  1. Good day everyone, I contacted information at WFFC for 2006 in Rantoul and found, to my dismay, that there is no gear rental there. I am C license with 320 jumps. Right now I do not have my own gear available yet. Right now, the problem is the cost of gear. Now I heard of vendors with demo gear? Do you know if I can use (rent) gear, such as a demo from Skyfest (or the like). If so, how can I hook up with some? All I would use is your average PD-190 / 210 range type main. If so, what are the restrictions on demo gear? Just one jump? No specialty (balloon, biplane, etc)? I just moved to Missouri (from FL) for 6 months and Rantoul is temptingly close by so any kind of comments will be appreciated. Blue Skies, Chris - C30317 Fly High ... Don't "Get High"!

  3. Good day everyone, I was rather upset a few weeks ago arriving at Skydive South Beach (SoBE) in Pahokee, FL under Blue Skies, light Saturday winds, burning sun, and cool breezes only to find the DZ closed up!! Bummer!! I asked the FBO there and they "blew me off" knowing nothing (skydivers always pissed those guys off anyway). A walk around the hangar greeted me with an upset skydiver stopping by to pick up his gear (reserve re-pack) and the place being locked-down! I was also told by several that "Skydive SoBe" was going to build a world-class facility (a super-rumor I guess). This was a few months of being blessed with 15 jumps on fridays, great people, good altitude, great boogies, you name it! So sad man, sooo sad! The only thing I heard was that they were trying to hookup with an otter (can't skydive w/o a plane), but I kind of find that hard to believe. I guess the middle east, 9-11-2001, gas prices, and inflation took it's toll! Welcome to America! I also tried emailing ron@skydivetecumseh.com and got nothing back (that is what it says on www.skydivesouthbeach.com). I am wondering what will become of this DZ??? Fly High ... Don't "Get High"!
  4. Hey all, I had the pleasure of recently visiting Skydive America in Pahokee a few months ago on some clear-blue Saturday morning only to find the place itself also "Clear and Blue"! But not "clear" as in "blue-sky kind of clear" but "clear" in terms of "no-one there"! I have been jumping at other DZ's but still miss Skydive America. Homestead is always tandem-intensive, Clewiston is too far and you have to wait too long to get on a load, and Skydive PBX (that little DZ at Pahokee that opened) I feel waery after hearing a lot of bad things about them at SD America! I remember after Larry Kirshenbaum left the place Carolina Sky Sports took it over, then suddenly, nothing! What are they gonna do with the site? Is it gonna sit there and rot or is it going to be opened under new management? I know it's summer and slow cuz all the really fun stuff is goin' on in the north now ... What do you think will happen with winter 2003-2004's onset and an improving economy ... Hummmm ;-) Fly High ... Don't "Get High"!
