Grrr... not going to make it after all - will be in the U.S. for Christmas with the family but then have to come back to Athens right away and not go to the boogie. Have fun all, maybe next year!

Adding myself to the list...I miss jumping in the U.S. and am trying my damndest to get to Eloy this year.
QuoteGood call...
I actually checked out Greece. Looks like Hellenic skydivers north of Thessaloniki might be less than 200 km away. I guess I could also email some of the DZOs in Croatia and Greece, as they may know of others not listed on here in the region.
Brettski :)
I don't know anything about DZs in the other countries, but I jump at Hellenic Skydivers. They have a pretty regular nice-weather weekend Cessna operation. It's one of only two in Greece. Unfortunately, jumping's quite expensive here, at least for me since I was used to US rates. PM me if you want any more info.

QuoteAddie! Welcome back online!
It's been a mess here since you've been gone! Tell us a story.
Hmm...a story...Greece rocks and it's absolutely gorgeous. Pretty much the only bad thing about the country is the lack of places to skydive.
I've got the guest room set up though....
Pics: the parthenon and a view from the hill by my house :)
Hey everyone! I just wanted to say hi to all from Athens; I finally got my internet connection set up at home and can surf dz.com again!
I figure if I can't jump (since there's only one freakin dropzone in all of Greece) I can at least get my dz.com fix....
Miss you all!

Quoteprobably will go down for one of the days. who is organizing rw loads?
According to the website, it's Dean Schlemmer, one of our local 4-way competitors who's been to nationals a few times.
Look forward to seeing you there!
QuoteAnd Addie... your boss called me... you're fired... you can't go to Greece anymore.
Ya know, at this point that would almost be alright...
But who else is in for the boogie?! I know several of you are being party poopers and can't make it but what about the rest of you guys? I know there's more area jumpers on this here website...
QuoteI rented it two weeks ago. I hate depressing movies. If I want to cry, I have my own crap to cry about. I don't need to be depressed over the lives of fictitious people.
I completely agree....I can just watch the news or live my life and see stuff that can make me sad....movies should make me happy, I like happy endings!
I also watched it cause I didn't know it was a sad movie.
The Orange Boogie this year will be held from August 19-21.
For any of you who've been anywhere with jumpers from Orange, you know we know how to party....come on out and join us! It will also be my last weekend in the country, so come jump with me in Virginia before I head off to Greece!

Where's the part where you stole his shoe?
Quote
It always scares me when I log into dz.com and seemy name in a thread.
Yeah, ditto...my first thought was, "Uh oh, what'd I do now." Perhaps I'm feeling guilty about something.
Matt, we need to make it back up, especially cause I'm moving outta the country in less than a month!
What nights do you work again?
I wear contacts, and have lost them on jumps quite a few times. My vision isn't too bad, so it isn't a safety problem, more an annoyance. I've tried several different types of goggles, and recently had to switch yet again because I lost a couple contacts trying to fly head down in them. It basically just comes down to how tight they are around your face and the direction of the relative wind.
Luckily, the lost contacts are usually just stuck to the inside of the goggle, so they're not lost forever.

heheh KU sucks
Dude, that sure is a weird article, but no reason to go talking trash on KU, dammit!
QuoteSounds like a blast!!
Glad you both had a great time
Yup yup! But it wasn't quite the crazy party it was when you were there! We missed your entertainment!
Hate? Nah, I certainly don't hate you. We missed ya, that's all!
But I'm glad you didn't come and try to rip off my shoe on a skydive like I heard you did with Mike French!
This weekend, Chris Cowden spent many jumps following me zooming around the sky while (sort of)on my head as I attempt to figure out this head down stuff. He was patient and helpful, and hopefully all this stuff he told me will sink in sooner or later and I'll "get it"
This post is to thank Chris and all the other skydivers who unselfishly are willing to jump with people trying to figure out something new, trying to get better at something or just trying to find someone to jump with. All of you really contribute to the development of the lower-time skydivers; without you guys I wouldn't even be the mediocre freeflier I am today. Yet again, the people are really what make this sport so great.
So thank you.
Well man, ya'll, it's really a bummer that this is all planned for this weekend. I was hoping to get a bunch of you up to the Orange boogie in VA that very same weekend....damn. After Greene County it sounded like several of you would try to make it.
Now you're gonna miss a great boogie up this way and also my last weekend in the country. Damn.
Quotesomething just occurs to me... I bet female low timers do much less solos then male low timers.
No idea what you're talking about.
Actually, at dropzones I have been to, the new jumpers, both male and female, are well looked after. Many of the experienced jumpers at my new dz were quite willing to jump with me and all of the other (relatively) low-time jumpers.
Perhaps it was a mistake....someone trying to give the note to someone else, maybe even play a joke, and got your car instead.
If not, that person is a jackass and don't let them bother you one little bit!
True, the website doesn't have a lot of information as of yet, but they do still have the information up from 2004. I would guess that the weekend is going to be somewhat similar as it has been every year, with the prices perhaps a slight bit higher, perhaps the lack of hot air balloons, and the addition of women's showers.
Not sure yet what the club's meaning with these $1 skydives, but either way, the boogie's sure to be a blast!
Quotehey chica! i'll be down at the tunnel that weekend working with PAIGE.
gotta see you before you leave though!!!!
missin' you and liz!
Have fun at the tunnel!
Time's running short for me; that'll be the last weekend I'm in the country.....
I always suggest Skydive Orange when people ask about dropzones on the East Coast; it's got an awesome vibe both during the day and at night.
Usually, they only fly the Super Otter on the weekends and rarely during the week, but the schedule shows the Golden Knights being at Orange the first week of August. If that's confirmed, I'm sure the Otter will be up all week long.

Lost Prairie 2007 40th Anniversary Boogie
in Events & Places to Jump
Tell me about it; I've been MIA. But I can't wait to be home! (at least for a few months...)
So is a keg the standard beer payment at Prairie instead of a case?
