hmmm... ok, so you guys say I should have bright grips. Initially I thought about solid black with royal blue grips... but the more I looked at it I thought, wow, those would be really bright... I guess that's the point. lol. But there is a strong contrast I think between the lt grey/max blue especially and also the black/max blue. The gal did recommend the inseam grips as well as 1 1/2". I don't have gear yet and am hoping to find a used black container. Shouldn't be too difficult I imagine. Yikes, I didn't realize how much jumpsuits are... and looking over the color swatches really made me reconsider my prior considerations of pink and purple. So, these two color options I'm considering. They're both conservative, I know... I like the first one the best. What do you guys think about dark colors? I see a lot of people wearing black. I wonder if the color matters so much. It seems you're hottest in the plane where color doesn't matter as much as under the sun. Thanks! It was hard to get up there. My cousin and I were flipping through the book. I went to ask the karaoke/d.j. hostess about "Say a Little Prayer" which we didn't see. She said no we don't have it but we have another song by Dionne Warwick, "Walk on By." She started playing it and handing me the mike, and I was like no, no, I'm not ready! There were plenty of times that my cousins and I messed up the words, but we just laughed. I was never alone so that helped, so maybe technically I didn't "go all the way." We stuck to the karaoke classics such as "Locomotion," "Sweet Home Alabama," "Brown-Eyed Girl" among others. I kept thinking, jeez, I can't really know how awful I sound being behind the mike, but I thought hey, getting behind the mike, knowing you can't sing, now that takes balls. Reese, Spinning out of control is exactly what I faced during AFF, except it didn't happen to me until later. I had to repeat level 7. I was spinning like a helicopter, and I was scared. I couldn't barely stop the spinning to pull. I went in the wind tunnel for 10 minutes and this helped me tremendously. I was not keeping my spine straight on turns as well as pushing one arm forward at the shoulder instead of the symmetrical movement of both arms. You may be doing these things. The tunnel straightened me out. Also, an instructor recommend if I start to spin to tap my toes together to make sure my legs are even. Also, I find the rush factor affected me. Having to complete so many tasks in so short a time made me feel rushed. Remember to take one thing a a time, for example, turn, stop, then move forward. Rushing from movement to movement also contributed to my spinning. I took lots of time with my AFF, i.e., I only completed one level in one day. But I asked tons of questions, and told them I didn't want to be rushed, and they were always cool with this. I always said that I would never do it, not even if someone gave me $1,000 or even if I was extremely drunk... It all happened at a surprise party for my uncle which turned out to be more exciting than I had anticipated ... I did it first to the tune of "Bad Moon Rising," then I did it over and over again... Turns out I wasn't (too) drunk and did it all for free... and it even turns out I had a lot of fun... I liked it... I'm no longer a karaoke virgin. Hey Pyke, I've lived in So. Cal all of my life and in the Huntington Beach area for most of my life. I've been a full-time student for a while, so I'm not sure about salaries. I do know the last company I worked for, for a 4-yr degree a customer service position was starting at like $34K in Newport Beach. The whole area around Costa Mesa is mostly high rent. Newport Beach, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, and Irvine are the highest, although you can find cheaper apts if you look hard. They all have pricy/more reasonable areas. If you are looking for a 1br/1br type place with balcony and pool, you are looking at no less than $950. Cheaper communities in the area are Westminster, Garden Grove, and Santa Ana. The former two are better, Garden Grove probably being the best, but all have neighborhoods to avoid, although nothing too bad, nothing like some communities in L.A. Also, the drive from where I am in HB to Perris is 70 miles. It's slightly closer to Elsinore. The 91 freeway is crowded, but I have FasTrack which helps tremendously. If you are willing to commute you might consider communities out towards the drop zones, such as Corona, where the rents are better. Finally, the gas rates here are now about $2.12 for the cheap stuff. I can empathize with you. I didn't tell my father before I went skydiving because he is ultra conservative and is afraid of any risks. He won't even fly. Anyway, when I told him he said he hoped I wouldn't be foolish enough to do it again. He didn't want to see the video and pics, and it makes me kind of sad that I can't share my passion with him. Anyway, I would just be straightforward and tell your father. You are an adult, so you have the right to live your life. I don't know what else you have done that your father would need to say "don't do anything else stupid," but although skydiving has risk involved, I wouldn't call skydiving a stupid thing to do. I sold my first item on e-bay! I have spent so much money skydiving (including student loan money), and I have resorted to selling stuff on e-bay. I listed a bunch of beenie babies and records, but what sold was a pair of Mudd jeans, the kind that are way too low, and I figure now that I'm 33 I need to let those go. I had just signed up for e-bay a week ago and wonder if this is just beginners luck. Has anyone else had any success selling on e-bay? Any tips?
