  1. as the bulk of my jumps are tandem videos, I have had the opportunity to film 30-40 different tandem masters in many locations. I have 504 tandems. one of the most experienced TM's i jumped with, I observed at pull time wave off, pull, and hold the students forehead as the canopy deployed. i had never seen this before. a few tandems later I had a harder than normal opening followed by the students head smashing into my mouth giving me a nice fat lip......all of a sudden it became clear to me, as my mouth filled with blood. I adopted this routine as well. I have had students reach up and grab my forearm which was actually pretty easy to deal with by saying "please let go of my arm" in a stern tone. I have since witnessed many hard openings by other TM's and as the student looks at the ground which is more likely with out video, their head seemed to hyper flex or extend, whiplash. when the TM holds their forehead actually in the prefered position there was no issue. I guess it is what you are personally comfortable with. stay safe, Jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  2. very nice website! on your info page it says: married 31+ years Damn, you look about 31 years old. nice job bro. Stay safe, jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  3. around 70 images large jpg rebel xt The ground always, remembers where you are!
  4. if your going big......don't throw the drouge.......tandem pairs with perfect students stand a better chance at any type of RW going tandem terminal. toss in a couple hangers and that would be a sweet hyrid dive. certainly could be done by some, but not by most!. 5. sold my ninja 900 for a cypres and a bunch of jumps The ground always, remembers where you are!

  7. I have a cable, a 4 pin firewire on one end, usb on the other end......is this what becca is looking for? video camera -------> to computer. I transfer all video to my MAC this way. I appoligize if I misread the post or don't understand the question. oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  8. I recently came across a reasonably priced VX2000. I also have a box-shell and of course it won't fit because of the large mic in front. can a ftp accomadate a VX? it looks like ftp will be my next purchase. it never stops. stay safe, jim oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  9. I have to agree with daves list 1. Deploy main 2. Wiggle head around trying to see the mal. 2a. If head moves freely, go to step 4. 2b. If head feels snagged, go to step 3. 3. Cutaway helmet, and peel it off your head. 4. Lean head away from risers, and chop main a main entangled with a camera helmet is a very serious event. similar to a 2 canopy out senario there is no cut and dry answer. what works for one person can result in a fatality for another. I don't think a main in tow would be a good option, especially if you have a freefly setup with only a small size fastex clip under your chin. a chin cup is better but I wouldn't recommend both. rear entry is best/quickest. having to say goodbye to your investment has to suck bad, but stayin alive for more jumps is far better. altitude is your friend in a malfunction. I usually sit in at 3800'. I used to be the guy sitting in at 1800'. sometimes its better to be lucky than good. great topic Stay Safe, Jim Oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  10. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Personal_Galleries/jimoke&image=IMG_7613m.jpg&img=&tt= does this qualify as a good shot? The ground always, remembers where you are!
  11. http://www.dealsurprise.com/trte5480wipc2.html a nice printer, fairly cheap, pays for itself before you change the ink twice. Oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  12. I think once you shoot the XT and see the quality of the images you will want to have every photo you shoot High quality.....even tandems. I have shot well over 300 tandems with my XT. and sold almost 500 8X10 photos to my customers. the photos sell themselves. just my thoughts, Oke P.S. your wife rocks!! The ground always, remembers where you are!
  13. I print 2 8x10 photos of every tandem I shoot. it takes 10 mins. for two beautiful photos. I charge $20. for one shot $30. for both. I bet I sell 85% of the photos I print. the ones I don't sell find themselves on a wall for other students to look at. the cost is about $5. per print. you won't be disapointed with the rebel XT and the stock lens Oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  14. try geethree.com oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  15. at my dz tandems get out last, some days going on your back to film the tandem opening means you won't make it back to the lz. make sure you know not only your altitude.... but where "you" are above the ground. off field landings can suck all for a few seconds of footage. 16. my friend just had error 99 on his 10d, I think it is upgrade mode, anyway he just bought a 20d to replace it while he is waiting for service. can error 99 be fixed? and if so for how much? Jimoke waiting patiently for my error 99 skydive The ground always, remembers where you are!
  17. nice jacket! I like the style, my only other thought is big gaps at the rear of the wing. this senario could allow the reserve/cutaway handle to get behind the wing if you were on your back, possibly allowing premature deployment of your reserve. this area should leave as little room as possible for some thing to slide through. if you can slide your hand through "by accident" you could have a nasty horseshoe malfunction. just my thought, stay safe, Jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  18. wait till you fly around for traffic, or looking for some holes in the clouds for 12+ min. at 15k hypoxia is gonna get you someday. a cam-eye is a great tool! stay safe, Jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  19. try it on sports mode with auto focus on ......close as your going to get to point and shoot. you will get some great shots, of course mastering skydive photography will take some time and experimenting with the multitude of setting changes. what the hell you won't be burning up rolls of film and processing costs. post some of your pics when you get some. welcome to the digital age Stay Safe, Jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  20. I had the same concerns last season. I bit the bullet, I bought a digi rebel, a really nice printer and all the other accesories. initial cost was about $1800.00. I made this back after about 200 videos. the biggest advantage is the ability to print 8x10s immediately. I charged $20. for 1 print $30. for 2 prints. I guess I sold 85% of all the prints. it is a bit more to do than handing your student a roll of film but I feel from a monetary standpoint it was well worth the initial investment. it certainly depends on your video concession and how much you actually earn for this service. you will not be disappointed with the quality of digital photos. 21. the difference between tounge and bite how tight your chin is when your locked and loaded. if your chin is secure and tight, pushing with your tounge seems easier. less stress on your jaw, blow switchs are properly named. Stay safe, jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  22. this is so true. but you did not finish the whole conversation. 100 jumps later Them: i am sorry, dude I fucked up......I am sorry, I should have listened to everybody. the doctor says I should be jumping again in 12 weeks. Me: get well soon bro! I am labled as ultra-conservative in certain circles, I can live with that....it has worked for me so far. I have seen too many newbies that just won't listen to more experienced jumpers. I have seen to many naturals with exceptional learning skills pile in because they thought they were dialed in. changing one thing at a time is a good idea, it took me 2 jumps to wear a pair of gloves i am sorry, rant over jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  23. just curious, why would you cut away your main? couldn't you have just laid it out still attached? just askin, sometimes last out the plane stinks. thanks for the heads up for the camera guy....we appreciate it! jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  24. this was one of the funniest posts in a long time......bravo. ALL TRUE. you should finish it sometime.....there must be another 100 or so. it would be great to see this list in a video format. it would be a scream! jimoke The ground always, remembers where you are!
  25. these are the proper location for the money shot. I would suggest you try auto focus. I have had no problems with canon AF try it see if you like the results. Oke The ground always, remembers where you are!
