  1. I spoke with Gary yesterday and, although he was initially evasive, he stated that he had indeed jumped the eye of Hurricane Donna, but said "Kinda, we only went to 2000 feet though." He still works on aircraft around the DeLand airport. He asked why I wanted to know & I told him about the thread. He laughed & said " Don't tell anybody, I dont want people to think I'm crazy" Lemme know if you wanna know more & I'll ask him. ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  2. Pantera: Great Southern Trendkill Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffiti King's X: Dogman My own stuff, when I feel like playing it. Usually loud enough that my neighbors stop by....Most to hang out, only one to bitch...so far.... But I DO live on a DZ! ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  3. That post was in response to Tamer, but your welcome to see the video too. Regarding your size choice....whatever. Just TRY to be safe. I may be doing some jumps with Scott on the 5th too. Perhaps we should take it to the roof & freefly a bit before starting the canopy stuff @ 5k....just know I'll be tracking my ass off to get away from ya before you dump ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  4. Eloquent, dude. Hit the nail on the head. Frightening and clueless, yes? There's no faking it in the air. There was a guy about 3 yrs ago who hadnt jumped for a year, gained 20-30lbs and downsized. He had 2 jumps on his new canopy when he creamed in. Took care of him, got him breathing again & had him flown out to Halifax. Severe head trauma. Had him as my patient later that night in Surgical Intensive Care. Last I heard he was still in a nursing home, unable to wipe his own ass. What the flock are these people thinking, dude? I've got the whole gruesome incident on video. Remind me when you're at the DZ & I'll show it to you. ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  5. Never accused you of "crying" Angela. It still is a safety issue, plain and simple. There is no argument here from me, as you are licensed and know the risks, just like all of us. You havent been completely honest in some of your posts, and bordering on whining when responding to something you dont want to hear. I've seen the pattern before, and being at the DZ every day, I get the unhappy task of picking up the pieces when something goes wrong. Many people that are now considered innovators in the sport surely got the same kind of feedback in their day, as they pushed the limits of their chosen discipline. You know enough to obtain coaching from the best. You'll get more from Scott's course than you'll be able to absorb in the 5 jumps you'll be doing. The learning will continue long after your day is done with him, as you continue to apply different aspects of what you've learned. It would be cool to see you competing in swoop competitions some day. It would not be cool to see you in shock, lips blue, bone exposed, waiting for Air One. Check out the bios of the PD swoopers. Look at their canopy history. Be safe, stay current, and have fun, just don't break your ass. If I remember correctly, it looks pretty good in a jumpsuit. Nuff said, see you in October. ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  6. Angela, I have to agree with Skymama. Whats this about 360's? Thats your approach? You've been cautioned more than once. See ya in October, hope it goes well. People that havent seen your landings seem to think this is all OK, downsizing from PD230 to a .....what? 150? in 26 jumps? Hope you dont buy a ride in Air One.Working with Scott is the best idea I've heard from you. 2 days ago I was spared a nasty landing because of something I learned from him. Scott may suggest another canopy for you. Then what? Gonna look for more support online from people that havent ever watched you land? Good luck. ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  7. Yup...Jack Wallace, "Wildman", is away for the summer, but bought a house here last year, so he'll be back this fall, with everyone else... ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  8. Hi Angela! I did see your ONE landing on-target. Not a fluke, but the ONE TIME everything came together for you. Good job! Downsizing will put you under a faster, more responsive canopy. Your instructors have REPEATEDLY cautioned you regarding this issue, but it seems that isnt what you want to hear. Remember, the huge grassy student area is your target (not the active runway), landing on your feet there is a good first step, and landing on the "X" was wonderful, the best I've seen you make. When you land consistantly near the "X" on your feet, your instructors won't hold you back, so be patient, have some fun, and be consistent with the 190. You did, after all, just downsize TO a 190 from the 230 you jumped as a student. You are making progress. Relax and hang in there. You don't need to downsize twice in 25 jumps. ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  9. Oh yeah...He's got more jumps than I do! ___________________________________________________ Whatever
  10. So you've been freeflying since your 20th jump & have several hundred skydives to your credit, your a decent freeflyer. Good. Wanna be versatile enough to freefly or flat-fly on a 3D dive? Great. The only time you fly on your belly is the 5 or 10 seconds before pull-time? Bingo. Carl Daugherty, at the behest of your humble Narrator, has initiated a course of instruction for those of you, like myself, who meet the above criteria. Cost of instruction: pay your slot. Carl is one of those skydivers who just wants "To give back" to the sport. He certainly has the skills to coach the likes of us, as his list of medals and trophys is far too numerous to list here. The group is limited, and membership is not automatic. Admission will come after an evaluation dive with one or more members of The Underground and is subject to peer review. We want people who have already shown a commitment to the sport, so to be considered, you should own your own gear, have around 200 jumps or more, be safety conscious, a good tracker and not live with your parents... Feel free to apply if you suck ( or just lack experience) at belly flying and are a half-decent freeflyer. If you plan on being in DeLand, let us know, and we'll set something up. Our schedule is flexible, and you dont have to be a local to get in on the fun. A weekend, a week or whatever is cool. One-on-one coaching is also available with Carl for those interested. Contact Nurse Tim ( or Evil Tim...whatever) at Skydive DeLand..386-738-3539 or email me at [email protected] if interested. I'm full-time staff so I'm usually there, leave a contact number if I'm not, and remember... . . "Belly-flying...It's not just for pull-time anymore." Skymama, do I owe beer for my first post? ___________________________________________________ Whatever
