It's officially "Bug Season" in Florida
SkydiveNFlorida replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
Its been at least a couple years since I was skeet bit up here in Washington state.... neener neener I think I hated the dayum sabre-tooth gnats ( no see-ums) down there the worst.. they usually hit in the late fall when things started to dry out a little.. Those ARE the worst! As much as I hate being bitten by bugs, it's a wonder i've survived this long here. I sure can imagine living somewhere else... just have to adapt to the change in weather! Isn't it like 90 degrees up where you are right now? -A -
-What's the worst thing you ever said to a cop??
SkydiveNFlorida replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
angela stopped by cop in school zone. . angela calling her friend to bitch.. "fucking school zone, if they'd put a god damn flashing sign up like every other fucking school zone i'd have seen it. Fucking cop... blah blah" "there are children that can hear you. If you know whats best for you you'd stay quiet because i'm just writing you a warning." -cop to angela "*silence* " -angela being quiet awaiting her warning Angela -
Beer Backpacking Trip -or- I slept with Flyangel2
SkydiveNFlorida replied to skybytch's topic in The Bonfire
Lisa, where is that? I wanna go, too!! I've never been hiking (I know, unbelievable, my living in Florida and all.) -A -
Glad someone helped you out. I had voted other as well. I would give up tunnel camp instead of giving up the jumps. And, i'd definitely keep the PD. I'd think if you couldn't afford tunnel camp, just don't go. -A

Anyone tried MEGA-MEMORY or the like?

Anyone tried MEGA-MEMORY or the like?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
What were your experiences? I am considering an audio cd like this or Quantum Memory. I am extremely forgetful, maybe stemming from my partying animal days;) It is very frusterating because I can learn and understand things, retain them for a little while, but then if I don't continually use them I lose them (Physics, Diff Eq, and other courses have come and gone in my mind.) -A -
I hear you with the treatment options. Everything was very fast for me, too. After the initial discovery I was in surgery in just 3 short weeks. After that, they told me i'd need the iodine treatment. After a bit of research, I realized that once you have your thyroid removed, good luck finding a different (more open minded to new treatments) doctor because they are all booked and you'll sooner go into a coma than find a new one. But, alas, that is over. And, i'm moving so i'll be switching doctors before my next tracer dose of RAI. I wish you the best. I didn't go through nearly what you did. But, I was probably nearly as scared, so I know how you feel. HA! -A

How often do you wash your jumpsuit???
SkydiveNFlorida replied to sum1mom's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I remember those instructions but I thought handwashing with Woolite was okay...just not Tide because it's too harsh and will break down the fibers and will fade quicker. That's why I got a 2-pc suit... too hot in the summer! Guess I won't be having that problem when I move to SF. -A -
If I can't go out, i'm fine if he does, but he knows I require at least one of this weekend days. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isn't that kinda selfish? I do not think so. If he didn't wart to spend fire with we it wouldn't work. I don't have to ask, he warts to spend time with me, ever if I cant Jump. And, he doesn't live like a hobo due to spending every dime on skydiving. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If "living like a hobo" is what makes my b/f happy, then I'm all for him doing so. I'd rather be with someone who lives in a van and is happy with his life than someone who lives in a mansion and isn't happy. I agree. But, only because being with an unhappy person would be awful. That said, we all have a preference as to how we live... just have to find someone with the same goals. It's about choices. Because you wouldn't choose a particular lifestyle doesn't make it wrong. True. But it is "wrong" for me.

When I'm actively losing weight, I skip breakfast, eat whatever I want for lunch, and have a salad for dinner (with minimal "goodies" on it). When I hit a "wall", I spend a couple days of watching what I eat for lunch too, until I start losing again. I also work out very hard in between work and the salad. Blues, Dave Of course you are losing weight, you are starving! One large meal and a salad likely doesn't carry a decent amount of energy. Then you work out, too?! Not that i'm a nutritionist, but that doesn't sound very healthy to me. -A

:( It is sad that what is considered attractive is stick thin, not healthy. And, it is even worse that popularity is gained, at least in part, due to ones looks. When I see the plastic surgeries that are done to make girls look like their idols it sickens me. But, this is what many of us are trying to accomplish, at least at some level, without even knowing it. Beauty is always in, right now stick thin is beauty,.. therefore it follows that stick thin is in. And regardless of if you think you care about what is in, it somehow keeps us on the path that has been beaten (into our brains by the media, conversations with others, and our daily surroundings in everyday life.) I am thinking of taking those up! Seriously. Yes, it is amazing how much time can be saved! I hear women talk about these things all of the time, especially diet aids! I can't even think of how many threads on those things i've seen in the Women's forum here (I have one about hair color out there right now, but mostly because I feel like it was a freedom I lost when I became a professional, why is that?!) Makeup, plastic surgery and diet aids are recurring themes here. So, true. I am working at becoming more aware. Angela.

That shit is scary (chemo)! I was very hesitant to take the radioactive iodine, even though they would love you to believe it is only absorbed by the thyroid! Whatever! I don't believe that for one second. I'm still not sure I made the right decision and i'll never know. Best of luck to you! -A

How did you come to the conclusion that you did indeed have a problem? How do you feel you fell into the problem in the first place? Media and the idea that thin=beautiful? Thanks for sharing that. I am sure that many who have these problems would read your post and discount it as they are "healthy" and how could there be such a thing as working out too much?! When I look at my body in the mirror it is not what it used to be. I am not "fat" but I am no longer thin, either. I used to have no tummy fat at all, now I have a more womanly figure. I try to consider that thin is not necessarily beautiful, that it is all media hype, but it does weigh on you regardless of whether you think so or now. The idea of what is beautiful has sure changed over time. -A

Nope, i'm not having any problems with gmail or google. -A

Well, I love fresh foods, shopping, and cooking! But, the lack of time is what makes it impossible. I am home for about an hour after I wake up while I prepare to leave, and for about an hour before I go to bed... doesn't leave much time for anything, really. It sounds like I could use the diet, though, because high cholesterol runs in my family and mine was 225 last I checked -A

LMAO!! Ok, that aside, I have no experience with the people who post ads on Craigslist... check back with me in about 20 days because I plan to find out when I make my trip to the Bay area in a few weeks.

All of the reality shows suck. Yes. All of them. -A

Well, who knows, I need scentific proof to believe some things. I can understand about the feeling of fullness, but i'd attribute that to it taking a little longer to eat the equivalent of whole fruit with compare to the time it takes to drink puree. But, I don't drink until i'm full, that'd be a lot of puree! I usually have a bit with breakfast, of half a bottle on the way to school. The Odwalla juice serving size is half a bottle, so i'm trying to split the juice up and only fill the bottles half way:p I'm no expert, as you can plainly see here, but I tend to question things that don't make much sense to me. The SB Diet sounds really good, btw. I read a little of it when I stayed with Katie & Ian, but wouldn't have the time to commit to that right now anyhow:*( -A

Seems most of us just shovel them in. I don't eat sweets often, but I don't organize/catagorize them when I do, ! -A
-
That was my thought, Lindsey. I puree the stuff in my mouth, I don't swallow the fruit whole. Unless there is some differential equation I don't know about that proves that fiber when broken down by puree actually further degrades in nutritional value over time. Lord knows I don't swallow whole chunks of apple! I can see how juicing something and straining out parts of the fruit would affect the nutrition, but am not sure on purees, smoothies and the like. nutrients0 - d2(nutrients)/d(t)2 = nutrientst Ok, I know, i'm a dork (and am not up on my diff eq lately, either, lol!) And, mnealtx, I am well aware of the sugars added to many juices, but they are required to list that in the contents. -A

Do you think it's a good idea to live together before marriage? Yes. Do you think it's something that you should wait for? No Is it a 'trial marriage'? Yes Those are the people that will stay together no matter how unhappy/unhealthy it is for all involved. Oh, and screw "stay together for the kids"... they can tell when you are unhappy and they would be better off in a happy home, regardless of the number of parents! -A

Yeah, so much for rare, my aunt had it, too. And, supposedly it isn't the genetic type. They removed my whole thyroid due to the size of the tumor. I gained some weight from the ordeal and still haven't taken it off yet. But, i'm on a good dose of Levothyroxine now so am at least balanced, now I need to work on the weight. I'm glad you're ok, too! Best of health to you, too! Once you go through something like this it changes your outlook on life, that's for sure. I am also doing my best to take care of myself even moreso than I already was, but I admit it is difficult to find the time for the gym with school and work. I am hoping to get a routine going soon. :) Angela.

Thyroid cancer here as well. Went though surgery a few months ago and feel fine now but it was a rough ride. Of course, after radioactive treatment one is always wary. The outlook is generally better for TC than many other forms. Cancer is scary stuff. My best to all who have it or love someone who does. Hang in there, people beat it. -A

Fresh fruit usually has fiber, which means that you get full as you eat it more easily. Juice, dried fruit, and purees allow you to eat more before you begin to feel full (even if they're unsweetened). Wendy W. But, regardless of how they make you feel (full, not full) i'm asking about why "You get lots of glucose in fruit juices, and they DO do all of those things.... " is true. If you drink a servings worth of fruit puree vs eating a serving of fruit, what is the difference (aside from fiber and the feeling of fullness?) -A
