  1. Good call. I'd probably go for that. As an aside, if he's still looking at a spectre, i'm sure pd would send a demo. They all fly the same, likely, given pd has laser cutting. :) -A
  2. I suppose it depends on what you were looking for. I wouldn't pay more than 1100 for the container system, I personally wouldn't buy a Tempo, but I can't see it being worth more than 500$, and the Spectre probably 1200$. There is a website you can check cypres values at, I can't remember the location... maybe someone can link you. I wouldn't pay more than 600 for a cypres due for it's 4 year. -A
  3. In short, yes. If I were selling my rig, I wouldn't want you test jumping it, you might slide in on the pavement for all I know. Try it on, have a rigger inspect it. -A
  4. Wow! That is awesome! I usually don't bid until the last seconds, but this thing takes the work out of it!! :D Kickass! -A
  5. OK, I'll bite... I was treated differently than guys by fellow jumpers, definitely invitied on dives, helped with packing, etc, that if I were a guy i'm sure would not have happened. However, this DID NOT extend to my AFF. I am 100% sure that my AFF training was just as strict as the guys get it. I even repeated a level for not checking altimeter on time. I was treated professionally as a person, not as a pretty chick. If instructors are playing favorites or are slacking on instruction for some people for their level of hotness, then SHAME ON THEM! Glad that didn't happen to me! -A
  6. It's hard to read past the yelling sometimes. But, try to take a few important things away from this on your own. Do you remember what was going through your head when you were in the landing zone? Did the winds throw you off, or was the speed of the canopy a little more than you were used to and you ended up heading toward the tarmac due to overshooting your lz? Did seeing that you were headed for the tarmac freak you out and you forgot to flare? Do you remember that part and why you did not flare? Here's something you did right, though, you didn't make a hard turn trying to avoid the tarmac. Not knowing your lz or what direction you were going, I might suspect that doing a small flat turn might have helped, but no turn is better than a hard turn to smack yourself into the earth. So this could have been worse if you'd made other mistakes. No one should tell you not to quit. But, if you are quitting because of dz.com then you might want to take a break from this website and rethink the sport on your own for a while then consult your instructors (non-husband instructors.) If you want to stay in the sport and be safer, you will seek help, probably consider upsizing your canopies, too, because not flaring is a very big deal. I think the shoes were the smallest part of this, so I hope that you aren't stuck on the shoe thing. Take care, heal well, and log off of this website! :) Angela.
  7. I would love to come out and play! Now unlock the door! happy Birthday! Get yer ass back in my closet and put the gag back on dammit. Nooo... wait until the weekend, then Rory and I can join you! Hope you're having a fun day! Happy b-day!
  8. Crap! Don't burn the place down before I even get there!! So, the cause of the fire is a secret? Or, no one actually knows? -A
  9. Well, i'm probably not much help here seeing as I am a slacker when it comes to grants and scholarships. I got a scholarship from the school, but it was automatic. I am assuming you've filled out the fafsa, did you not qualify for Pell, or any loans? Even after the school scholarship, subsidized and unsub loans I still had to take a signature loan out to pay for living expenses for next year. If your parents claim you, or you are under 24, you will not qualify for Pell or Subsidized loans if they make "too much" which could be any amount over the poverty line. You can try online scholarhip searches, there are books (I don't have the names). Also, if you are a member of your schools Phi Theta Kappa or Honors program there are usually scholarships for them (so I hear, I wasn't offered any!) Good luck:) -A
  10. So a street price with 25%off will be 1641.75 With options that'll hit $2000 easily. base: 2189 25% discount: 1641.75 hip rings 200 freefly pud 35 logo + embroidery 85 deluxe backpad 75 freefly mod 10 rws logo embroidery 25 total without skyhook 2071.75 Competition is a wonderful thing. Aerodyne's Icon is 1,799 with most options included. Street price is 1,529. Articulated Wings is 1,480.00 with most options included. Street price is $1,110 Apart from the Skyhook, I'd challenge anyone to show how a Vector-3 is "better" than an Icon. Is the priveldge of paying even more for a skyhook really worth $500? _Am Don't forget the Voodoo... mine costed somewhere around 1700 with stainless. All other options are included in the price (including competition backpad if you ask for it, same as cut-ins!) Oh, and it is sexy, comfy, freefly friendly, not to mention that Sandy and Brenda are so awesome!
  11. If I get my hair done, I usually spend a few bucks on it. Last time I got my hair highlighted it costed me 120$ (my hair was long!) I wouldn't spend more than 60$ on just a cut, though, and I've never spent more than 40$ on one. When I buy shoes (not often) I tend to buy decent stuff. I stopped picking up pretty shoes and I stopped trying to be thrifty because your feet pay for it. I want something well made and comfy, and that is usually between 40 and 75$. I would not spend over 100$ on a purse, no way! I try to keep it around 50$. I've not had too much experience with art galleries, but wouldn't break the bank to attend. The most i've spent on a dress is 120$, it was for a wedding. Usually I shop for my stuff at Old Navy, or sales at dept stores. I've even been known to hit thrift stores. I like a high thread count, and don't want any sheets that aren't 100% cotton (ach, sweat!) I am a very picky sleeper, and I tend to sleep poorly when i'm at a hotel, in a tent, etc. I am a light sleeper, I want it very cold and dark and comfortable. My pillow costed 90$. So sue me! I will spend money eating. I dont' care how much i'm paying for "the next days shit." Some of my best memories involve good food, mmm. I would rather pay more and eat well. -A
  12. Hi, mama. We actually own the Body for Life book, too. Admittedly, I never read it, it is something Rory added to the bookshelf when we moved in together. I am not familiar with the book at all. I just liked the idea of the SB Diet because it seems to employ a lot of the concepts I am trying to follow now, but to a higher degree. I don't drink soda anyhow, that is a demon that Rory will have to conquer, though. Thanks for the offer. I will let you know when we get started and how we do. :) We might be up this weekend, not sure if we're going to Seb or Clewiston yet. I am kinda out of jumping shape so don't know if i'm doing enough jumps to warrant the longer trip to Sebastian. Ok, love ya! :) -A
  13. Yep, noticed it and didn't mind it at all. Still liked the area more than the rest. I try to keep an open mind and be accepting of other people's lifestyles. The fact that my neighbors wouldn't be straight has no bearing on my decision to live somewhere. Maybe that's just me. -A
  14. I have never lived in Atlanta, but was planning on possibly moving there so we checked out the area. We were planning to find a place near Piedmont Park, it was our favorite area of those that we saw. Lots of small restaurants/local joints near, the park was great, the houses had character (not cookie cutter), and all in all we just liked the feel of the area:) Good luck. -A oh, forgot to mention, seemed like everyone in the area had a dog!
  15. We visited all 3 on our trip out there. We got to Perris and Elsinore during the weekdays, and Elsinore was not very busy, but had recently had a fire or something. They were super friendly there, everyone chatted after the day was done:) Perris was bigger, and we got a few jumps in, but it didn't have as good a vibe as Elsinore. People were not unpleasant at all, though, I just liked Elsinore a little better personally. SD San Diego by far had the best view, there were lots of swoopers, and they had people offering freefly coaching for free. Everyone was very pleasant and the burritos were good. I liked this dz the best of the three. It's all a matter of preference, though. :) -A
  16. Hi, Wendy! Well, that's the plan. I'd like to shed a few pounds, but the idea is to be healthier for life. I already eat pretty well, I don't do fast food, I cut trans fats out completely. I need to exercise more for sure, and i'd like to start with this diet as a way to refiine my diet even further. Not for a week or five, but for life. Well, considering that i've never dieted, i'd have to believe you there:D -A
  17. I gain and lose 2+lbs a day... if I gained 2lbs, I wouldn't be able to attribute that to anything particular. I guess some people have a more steady weight than that, though. How did your friend make out ? -A
  18. haha! I am the queen of frozen food lately (not the real bad ones, though, the whole foods ones.) I will have to make a trip to Publix to see if they have the SB ones there. :) -A
  19. Hello. I am looking at possibly trying this diet. I have never dieted before, and i'm not excessively overweight, but I would like to be a bit healthier. This is supposed to help you cut bad carbs, get used to a new way of eating, even says it can help you lower triglycerides I think. After skimming through a copy of the book i've now placed an order for my own set. I am just wondering if anyone on here has tried this diet, and what they thought of it. thx. -A
  20. I bought a custom Voodoo V0 with a pullout deployment system. Sandy and Brenda were extremely helpful to me, and they take all requests for changes in engineering seriously. The rig fit great from day one. I ended up sending it back in to have the pullout system modified to be velcro-less. The system is great, the service is great, and I could not be happier with RI! I think they are a top notch shop and this is the best looking rig on the market, imo. I would buy again for sure, but this rig is made so well I probably won't have to for a very long time!
  21. Ouragan has a very nice team. Some good points are that they take pride in their designs, and if you are looking to get something tribal, or some abstract design on your suit, they will do it (but it'll cost ya$$.) I have a 2pc suit. The first time I got it they pants were too small in the butt. I sent back and they fixed. I later gained some weight and had them remeasure me to alter the pants. The job didn't work out, they came out very very huge. They determined they would need more money to make new pants. At this point I had them make them, but when I got them they were just a small at the original pants that were too small, and now i'm back to the butt not fitting well (goes up my butt.) I have given up on alterations, and i'm just wearing it as is because i'm not willing to waste anymore of my time. I have looked at a few of their suits, and the up-the-butt look seems to be kind of common. I think that the mold they use is for a small butt, and when you send in your measurements, they just scale the mold maybe, and don't account for different body shapes? In the end, I like the suit, I just wish that the pants didn't go up my butt again. Nancy and her team are nice people and their operation has grown immensely in a short time. I would not buy again, though, because of all of the hassle with fitting problems. Also, I tried to inquire on getting my boyfriend a suit and kept asking for a quote and never got one. His suit from Firefly should be arriving in a few days.
  22. You're right! I mean, why bitch when you can just join the masses, right? Not everyone is in the position to fight the politics in the near-dictatorship that has become our country (yes, I liken it to a dictatorship when votes don't count because the president doesn't believe something is moral, (can't wait for the veto!)) However, just because someone doesn't intend to right the world by fighting bad politics, doesn't mean they have to agree with them or move! And, if enough people see things that are wrong and share their views with others (via "bitching") then hopefully others will at least question whether these things are right. Hell, if it gets bad enough, maybe it'll start a revolution! -A
  23. That must be weird to sit in warm weather looking at snow.. :p Hey, you don't have to convince me... I HATE BUGS! ;) -A
