in hawaii I was flying a velo 84,, I was starting my landing while still in the frkn airplane,, plus somedays I made over 20 jumps a day and worked on two islands,, a velo is a fun canopy,, but you better know what your doin,, 270 at 900 is closer to reality,,, it might sound crazy, but jumping into a velo as your first x brace canopy is not what I would advice personally, learning blind when the rnd was my bread and butter yrs ago is not helping, but bagging after a 9 tri cell light wing loading, after jump a pd elliptical 107, the jump numbers play big part in how other jumpers view the gear being used by others, 1000 jps is good..28337865ft for 450deg? Good attemt to get Darwin's award.

But the platform from building different gear has changed only by sight of what we have discovered, , I had nearly five thousand jps before going on my first xbr high altitude hop & pop,, not to say all is done in high speed landy vill because of me, but
People put memories and standards in how the sport is developed, , if you move into an area of the sport that other have moved forward for you,, great,, , but if you say sweet spot to me about a velo landing,, and I respond to you with my reality on the same and then you go try it, with what ever your jump number, you might get killed,, its the fact that your speed is now up from your sight pictures, plus the canopies all out design change, , the other guy said, he is turning,, most people need 500 jumps or so before jumping an elliptical, , most pilots would stay there, , happy and comfortable and alive for thousands of jumps before changing, anything,,

To answer your questions I'll do so but not in that order.
2) No I was raised a Muslim. I started to feel like I knew that God was there but it was as if he couldn't hear me somehow, like there was a barrier between my prayers and his answers. I also had a huge problem with the Wahibi element that seemed to be insidiously taking over Islam in the UK prior to 9/11.
I had prayed in Churchs as well as Mosques from a young age. When eventualy a friend asked me to go to church with them one sunday. I did and felt something that I hadn't experienced before.
1) I went on an Alpha course. The Alpha course is run in something like 48,000 churchs and locations around the world. It is a non denominational course which originated in my church HTB in London. Its designed for people who aren't Christians or 'Lapsed' Christians who want to know more. Its run over ten weeks and is one evening a week. Each week covers a different area of Christian belife. I garentee you there is one near you. Theres no problem with not being a beliver because thats who the course is aimed at. Don't agree with something? Great! Tell them so. The purpose of the course is not to try and talk you into becoming a Christian , its for you to find out more about God and I supose is more of an introduction. Then its upto you to decide if you want to develope your relationship with him. At any point of the course you can say, Nah, not for me and walk off. No one is going to go knocking on your door. Its compleatly upto you. How did I know it was the right choice? Because after all those years of standing and calling God with a brick wall between us all of a sudden I went round the corner and found a open window, I prayed and God answered me though the Spirit. That window was Jesus, it was like looking for God through a frosted glass then finding a lens that focused everything into clarity, Jesus is that lens.
How did I know I was a Christian? I used to argue all the time. I was a aggressive charicter and half the reason I enjoyed the Alpha course to start with was because I could go and argue as much as I wanted. Then on week four I went off to Empuria Brava in Spain. I was on a rented 285 canopy, it was my 50th jump. They called a 50 jump wind hold. I got on the load. As we rolled down to the runway they called a 100 jump minimum. As we took off it turned to a 200 jump minimum. Just before I exited I decided to say a little prayer thanking God for the privlage of being a Skydiver. I jumped and all was fine until I had a slamer of an opener. I then started flying backwards over the road and over fields. I was still flying backwards over a cabbage field when I was preparing to do a backwards PLF. I looked down at the middle of the large field below me and realised with horror that what I'd taken to be cabbages were in fact what appered to be eight foot high Hop poles about two meters apart squared covering the whole field.
I turned and was side on to the wind trying to get out of the field. I started to pray and then all a sudden the most amazing calm came over me and I knew every thing was going to be OK. The wind died and I just made it out of the field, turned and landed into wind. I landed in the most beautiful field of wild flowers and made the softest landing ever. My canopy just hung over my head on landing. Behind me was a bright yellow sea of rape plants and all around me red and white wild flowers. I touched down and felt like I'd been caught by the hand of God. The sun shone down on my face and I didn't feel alone. In front of me was a small building to either side trees along the edges of the field and then the hop poles. I came back to the UK and my personality changed. Where I'd had a hard heart it softened, where there had been anger there is now calm. When I'd be irritated with people I now feel compassion. I recived what I now know to be the gifts of the Spirit. Its not airy fairy its very real. The most real thing that you'll ever experience.
3) How did I know it was the right choice? I've become the person that I always wanted to be. I'm, not perfect but I know what God wants of me and am happier for it. Someone once said that Guilt is the difference between the person you are and the person you'd like to be. i feel more happy about who I am. People open up to me more, I am happier and never feel lonley anymore. I feel a freedom that I never experienced before.

Many teaching outlines fallow old business needs, low exit, students make the money, home base is canopy course,, its in the mind, the language, the time line,, many other teaching acts, like,, the canopy skills course itself,, came after business planes, and swooping,, go figure,, its the ability in view of demand,, most don't think about cost,, but the weak minded would do things,, and try to teach things without picking up on the student and the past, its like the pressure of knowing and being better never crossed their minds,, the gear and the skills go together,, you kill the sport if you forget were the money comes from,, the best course directors use a camera, are sponsored by at least one of the top three canopy companies, yet don't sell the canopy they are jumping, or over speak products from flight proofs from lateralling technology, ,,that's the magic that keeps the grass green, at least on my side of the aircraft carrier

reir,,to the other quote, blogging a canopy manufacturers name, is not blogging safety and skill, and no one paracammanderd the rock Brian idea of a wing suit, with flight safety types, from flight concepts before jumping the damn thing above 5000ft,, base jumper, trend,, a wing suit instructor is not going to tell the 10000 plus skydiving dude, please sure, I know more about the air up there, because I just sold your worshipfulness on this new trendy sport, high speed,, vs time travel, the idea that you can build a more stable canopy, never came out of a box,, most of these guys posting sound like students, fishing for something, are you teaching novice or student to birdman,,riggerrobThe "ellipticals versus non-ellipticals) argument started back when rectangular canopies (all ribs the same size) were the norm (circa 1990) when the Sabre 1 was the most popular canopy, but Parachutes de France and Brian Germaine were experimenting with tapered canopies.
Early ellipticals were far less tolerant of sloppy packing, sloppy deployments, etc. so they develop a "killer" reputation. Fast forward to this century, junior wing-suiters tend to be "marginally stable" at deployment time, so they suffer far more line-twists during opening. The last thing anyone wants is serious line-twists on the bottom end of after a "busy" wing-suit dive.
Now most mains are tapered in one way or another. Even student canopies (PD Navigator and Aerodyne Solo) are tapered, so the "elliptical" argument loses a lot of momentum.
IOW the only rectangular canopies still in production are made for: BASE, precision landing and reserves.
A more modern restriction (on junior wing-suiters) would be to keep WING-LOADING below 1.5 for the first few wing-suit jumps.

a developing idea is not a developing attitude, most military types say go with what you know, so the French skydiver that helped develop sport activities around the same wing suit I jumped in the 90s was flying an elliptical canopy, , yet a military team secretly builds a connection system for gear, suit , canopy, and mission needs, the point is not to question the statement, but are you willing to kill someone in order to in force a rule, vs,..are you crazy enough to jump a wing suit with a line twisty canopy or are you jumping a canopy prone to line twists, is in front of a sport developing a flight fun, vs a development already in motion,, most base jumper fly a big canopy, most hook turn pilots learn up into starting a turn higher and higher, if you set rules in place at a dz, you had better know a little history but a whole lot of current facts, setting the skill alongside the gear shows an interesting safety geometry, that few instructors can ever ignore, and you wouldn't make rules without an instructor,. no matter how many tandems were lined up,,tto78Hi
I am trying to form an opinion here and would appreciate some arguments for or against making rules about various safety-related topics at our DZ. The discussion often comes down to whether or not to make rules about something everyone already agrees on. For instance:
Current rules dictate that a wingsuit jumper may not jump an elliptical canopy on his or her first 15 jumps.
Group A - the wingsuit instructors - want this rule removed completely because it makes sense not to jump an elliptical ever on a WS jump. As such, the number is invalid and the rule should be removed entirely because the group will deal with this issue internally by teaching their students not to do it.
Group B agrees with Group A on the fact that ellipticals should never be used on wingsuit jumps but wants to ban the use of ellipticals (for wingsuiting) based on this argument.
And then my thoughts: With fewer rules we treat people like adults by not taking away their freedom to make their choices and mistakes. Mistakes which are necessary to get the experience which can one day maybe their ass if they encounter a situation that requires them to think for themselves. In time it will also make them better instructors when they can teach from own experience. I also believe that it is a persons right to do that he or she wants as long as no one else's safety is at stake.
On the other hand...
The are skydivers who - at least at some point in their skydiving life - need fixed boundaries in order not to spin out of control. I - like most of my co-instructors - prefer to spend my time on those who want to become better skydivers and it would be nice to have a set of rules to wave in front of people whom we cannot reach. In the event of a serious accident family and authorities will look for someone to point fingers at and its very likely to be the instructors. Because of that, it seems most fair to give instructors the tools to prevent that from happening. Also, even though I believe in a persons freedom, I do not want to see someone get hurt if I could have prevented it. I know its not in our power to save everyone, but lets at least try...
So, fewer rules or more rules? I will appreciate any comments or thoughts on this topic that you may have so please come forward!

If you're jumping a heatwave like your profile says, I wouldn't try warping it. A spectre, triathlon, lightning etc are fine though.Again , to the pilot of the question, if you , on the safer canopy, were to say, fly closer to another canopy, and just feel, just feel,, slowly your relationship and speed, between yourself and the other jumper, and then , with remembering this, on your own, try this input, your awareness can better measure the canopies action and find purpose for the maneuver. Watching other airfoils, three risers, parasails, and other gliders, lower harness connection systems, then set yourself back into your own safe zone, and think about flying, ill be honest , crew is a little scary,, and any double up impute needs to be thought threw,,

all good big ways have cross communication, jump numbers with practice and strong understandings of each other and their dropzones,,, guiding people, , as a base team,, or gadging,, flight styles and positions are,, parts ,, not whole peaces,, if you can take a few friends on your own,, and set up group approaches,, knowing and seeing small peaces of your flight issue,, puts stop to,, maybe bad,, moments,,.. If you try stretching a bit with half flexing at points imagined in the dive as issues,, try to gadge yourself at that position while someone is watching you,, Also,, a lot of jumpers, as you might know,,daffesWhen I'm the last to dive out on jumps like a speedstar (big delay from the first out) I often find myself having trouble to close the vertical distance as effectively as horizontal distance. I try to get into a steep dive but I'm usually horizontally close to the formation while way too high. I then arch really strong and can get down but a lot of time is lost during this phase.
I did a lot of research on this forum and also on articles like http://parachutistonline.com/safety_training/foundations-flight/diving-exits but the only effective way I have found to make my dive steeper is to guide it with my head. The issue with that is that I can't keep my eyes at the formation as I'm looking to the horizon as in a head down position. I then keep alternating between keeping the steep angle and looking at the formation every couple seconds until it's time to put the breaks on.
I don't like this technique because if I really want to get the maximum out of my dive I can't look at the formation for longer periods of time, which would make me an unsafe skydiver and possibly overshoot the formation.
So, what are the other ways to adjust the pitch angle (dive steeper) while keeping looking at the formation? I'm basically trying to understand how to achieve the same effect using legs, hips, arms... not the head.
According to this article http://parachutistonline.com/feature/tracking%E2%80%94theory-and-application a delta track, would create a steeper track dive, but that goes against the powerful position explained on the first article (legs bent instead of pointing straight)
On angle flying, we see skydivers completely dearched and bringing their knees down, but they also are looking to the opposite way that they are going, so it doesn't help to keep looking at the formation.

get a lot of lift from some tracking positions, If you can find a wind tunnel, , all the better,,, when I first started out ,,, I tride a number of bigways at 90 degrees, arching and trying to slip a little with my knee,, also doing the 1,2,3,3,2,1, in your head real slow while watching video of the formation,, forwards and backwards, , till you get sick ,, or the tape brakes,,, most people that issue in bigways get better fast with micro movement training, , if your not worried in your mind about 1 part, it gets easier to get the whole picture in your hand,, also if you put yourself in the other jumpers head ,, under your sight while in the air,, as fare as looking and seeing movment, watching knees and feet,, can be better Info,, as you set yourself into a slot ,, before that moment, as the dive is doing well,, let the base be the base , but be a late shadow of yourself, , while looking at the other jumpers feet knees and hands,
!, try these jumps as often as you can, close flying, in that time without touching, , also,, on your own,, try freeflying from the door, it ll help with orientation of the base,, but like all good things, ,, take it slow,, do not try freeflying on the bigway jumps,, just solo out to understand the feel of speed position, , let that skill with others arrive in its own time,, over time,,, and remember, , some years I made over 1200 jumps working,,, if your not jumping alot, in the season,, some skill training might need to be in a different measure,, coach up ,, tunnel up,, what ever it takes , stay slow and sharp,,,

I think the xaos brakes down a bit much,, and most map out in the mind what we're aiming for in flight as for the goal and design, The Velo is that as fare as building a canopy of that purpose, the business of aiming your canopy over another in this flight idea with what we have to build canopies with is illogical, , other then that,, 500 bucks for a pocket rocket is a good deal, don't get hurt,,
