    You claim you were once a cop.....sorry but with this and many other ridiculous comments you've made (so you don't believe there is such a thing as "suicide by cop? it all has to be an assassination???)I have to call BS that you were ever a cop-at least never out on the street in the real world!:P

    I always try to maintain a reasonable discussion in here, but with a lot of the rabid and ridiculous comments it's obvious that's useless.........

  3. ***It's possible the report is accurate but I don't think the whole story and I put the link up after my first post this subject with the understanding that some of what was in the story differs form my observation and opinion. The video records someone being vulgar to the cop who does not respond directly but calls for back up probably bot because of the suspect but the potential threat posed by the bystanders.

    So in a show of force a group of cops put this kid on the ground rather convincingly. What for? To show the kid and the crowd, "Don't fuck with us, you'll get the same thing too?"

    It is a lot easier to handcuff a resisting person without injuring them or getting injured yourself with more than less.

    I'm not armchair quarterbacking. I don't have the level of patience to be a policeman. I watch our Metropolitan Police in London and am in awe of their professionalism (not saying I could do it myself; I'm saying I've seen policing being done properly for the last 25 years).

    I'm openly/loudly critical when something is bad (I think British Telecom is a shit circus and the BBC is goddamn waste of time/money), but I feel fortunate to have a police force of the Met's calibre and feel sad seeing Americans abused by their police forces who are supposed to protect them.

    On our drive to Atlanta yesterday we saw a LOT of unmarked cop cars all over south Georgia on I75.
    I made the comment that in today's environment that I couldn't pull over for an unmarked car. My wife agreed.
    We decided if it ever happens that we dial 911, inform them of the situation and ask for the address of the nearest cop shop.
    I've seen enough people killed by cops for doing what the cop told them to do.




    Very reasonable if it's an unmarked trying to pull you over as there has been criminals impersonating an officer cases, but not sure what your last sentence would have to do with that situation....
    Old advice below that still holds true:

    Warning: If you suspect that the person trying to pull you over is not a police officer (for example, he or she is driving an unmarked car), you do not have to immediately pull over. Instead, put your flashers on, indicate that you acknowledge the ‘officer’s” presence by waving at him, continue driving at the speed limit towards a busy, well-lit area, and call 911. Inform the 911 dispatcher that you are worried that someone posing as a police officer is trying to pull you over. Tell the dispatcher your current location and direction of travel as well as the make and model of your car. Do not get out of your car until the 911 dispatcher can confirm that person trying to pull you over is a real police officer. If the dispatcher cannot confirm that the person, carefully drive to a safe place such as your local police station and follow all of the dispatcher’s additional instructions.

    While we sit here and wait for the full story to come out, who here has heard any presidential canidate say they will put in place procedures that require police to report all shootings to the FBI or other top agency?

    I have said before to identify exactly how big of a problem you have you need to know the extent of it and stop going off wildly speculated numbers.

    On the fire side any fire where a hose line is pulled and water is flowed gets reported to the state fire Marshall who then send it up to someone else. We include things like if the house had smoke detectors, if they operated, and if it alerted the occupants, if there were sprinklers, any casualties or fatalities and the descriptions around that. As well as other good to know info. This is mandatory and is sent electronically. One other thing that always gets sent up is malfunctions of electrical equipment cars, etc. Say a stove short circuits, or a dryer catches on fire we record all the details and send it up so trends about faulty equipment can be recorded nationally.

    Of course those don't take apart the incidents-only collects the numbers. Don't know what further analyses is done to say which ones are "problem deaths" or not.

    I jaywalk all the time. The removal of our ability to assess risk and danger and rely entirely on the crosswalk signs is is just silly sometimes.
    Cops have too many excuses to arrest and stack charges IMO.
    I'm having trouble understanding why jaywalking is arrestable in the first place, much less a violent felony type takedown.

    Of course jaywalking is not arrestable-it's a cite only.
    If the cop approached him and the "kid" shoved him or even took a swing then of course it goes to shit from there.....
    If not then the cop may well be one of those aholes that make everyone else's job more difficult.
    It's just seems it's gotten so popular to jump to the conclusion the cop must be wrong.

    Again-before jumping to conclusions-where's the beginning of the incident. What happened up to that point?
    Yes it may be the cop was a power hungry ahole. Then again it may be that "kid" (that's plenty big enough to do some real damage) initiated the incident.

    I just find it ironic that in incidents folk are always saying don't jump to conclusions-figure out what really happened. But for police incidents that just doesn't apply.....

  13. In that video it shows the suspect hanging onto the baton-so the cop should let him have it to use against him? The cop shows restraint-after retaining control of the baton he waits for backup to control the suspect with least amount of force used.
    And of course the beginning of the incident is not shown-yet again..........
    Sorry but all the Monday morning quarterbacks get old.....

    And I have to wonder how many critics have actually had to go one on one to control and arrest someone? It ain't like on TV folks!

    Makes me think of a malfunction-lottsa folk will criticize you for what you did or didn't do. But "if in doubt whip it out" got you on the ground safe then tell the armchairs quarterbacks to go away.......

    At least in California it seems like the "system" is falling apart. This judge is a prime example of the problem-ignore the victim and be a "perpetrator apologist". I really do hope he gets recalled and removed from any bench forever.
    Yes, a defendant should have full representation-part of a functioning legal system. But when a judge then does something like this to circumvent the current system; I can't help but wonder where the hell he's coming from.

    For the lawyers here-should he disbarred too? I know thems pretty strong words-but.....

    This guy just has total disregard for the victim with his own statements-and he's not the only one out there in the legal system.

    This would be one of those rather liberal definitions of "friend."

    As funny as kallend's usual distortions are, it's troubling that at least two of you go on to blame the victim for not "doing something" to protect herself. She did, and the police and our failed concept of waiting periods failed her. Were she a FRIEND of mine, I'd lend her a weapon for the wait, along with the important element of taking her to the range.

    This is why you get a gun before you actually need one. 10 days or 30/2-3 months is too long if someone else threatens you.

    I'd suggest the Phantom from Robi made the most difference in the world overall, and it's the one everyone seems to still own and still be jumping/not many used ones available. The Phantom and it's cousin (the Shadow) are still the most-seen acrobatic suits out there.

    IMO, the Tony SBird or Xbird was the first one that opened a lot of people to bigger suits, but no doubt, the Bird series changed the industry.

    PF and Tony are still the most-copied suits out there as well.



    I always thought of the Tonysuits mach 1/super mach 1 as the first "big suits".

  23. I could care less what folk wear or don't wear-but I have to draw the line at the full face covering. On that I completely agree with France's ban.
    It's a basic safety issue.
    Many banks here have signs stating no masks, hoodies or even sunglasses inside. Take a guess why?
    If you want to get a driver's license you have to get your picture taken for ID of yourself. Take it off or don't get a license.
    There is no discrimination with those examples.
    If I went to a muslim country I certainly would expect to abide by their customs-so why not the reverse also?

    I see you quote "oppressed" in jest above -- but, living in a free society and seeing Muslim women wearing clothing from top to bottom on warm and sunny spring days while most other people (including the men accompanying women in said clothing) are wearing whatever they feel is most suitable to the weather -- can you kindly share your personal take on this dress code that your religion requires?

    Hi there, thanks for kind feedback

    Well all of abrahamic religions stress the importance of modesty for both men and women and have almost similar approach regarding the dress code.

    The purpose is simply said -- modesty. As someone who decided to wear hijab I her 20's I want to assure you that when its hot its hot both in sundress or hijab. Hijab is even more comfortable at times since skin is not exposed under the sun and in summer we wear breathable light fabrics anyways. personal benefits as I see them go beyond the modesty.

    There are two moments that I feel are very important:

    1. No more sexual objectification;
    2. Women don't feel societies pressure to fit into certain fashion/beauty trends which makes women more confident.

    Hijab is not only clothing but also attitude and speech. There's a hijab for men as well BTW:) generally speaking (for men) clothes should not be skin tight, especially between navel and knees. Eyeballing females (and vise versa) is forbidden etc I.e. they should be modest as well.

    My own experience with hijab was the feeling of freedom and liberation. I've never liked the unwanted attention of men and getting rid of that was priceless.

    Im still living an active lifestyle, so hijab was never a problem for me in this case.

    Some people think that we wear hijab 24/7 its not true:) its only compulsory in front of non-blood related men. We don't wear hijab in front of husband, women or close unmarriageable men relatives.

    I want to stress the fact that there is no compulsion in religion! If someone somewhere is forcing their daughters/wives to wear hijab it has nothing to do with Islam, its cultural crap. Today especially in western world women are actually fighting for their freedom to choose hijab and wear it! Some have to deal with their families and some with their governments. Which is ridiculous, government should keep itself away from lives of their citizens. Today they will forbid Muslim women wear their hijab, tomorrow they will intrude in private lives of non-muslims.

    I had to go searching for pics of skydiving with hijab-
    However as you describe it for modesty-then what about all these women who are wearing a headscarve with tight jeans etc?
    So is hijab just a headscarve? Or the full gown etc?
    Just seems like if you went to certain countries wearing a headscarve and jeans you would be confronted by the religious police?
    Sorry-I'm trying to make sense of this but it's just not adding up for me........
