  2. Such sad news. I was only talking with him last week at PIA, he looked so well and vibrant. Such a shock. Condolences to his family. Bill Sharp
  3. I understand what you say but our problem is that the organisation that rules us (BPA), states that students can only use a wing loading of 0.80 on their first jump, and 0.85 on subsequent jumps unless the manufacturer states a higher wing loading limit. The limit on the 270 doesn't give us enough range so we went for the PISA Skymaster 290. I also know that wing loading is not the only criteria but thats what we are ruled by.
  4. Are you sure they do a Solo 290. Their website only goes up to Solo 270 and thats one of the reasons my DZ didn't go for them for students, ie the recommended maximum weight wasn't high enough for our full range of student weights.
  5. No, it was a profile set up mistake. It is fixed now.
  6. This is OK as long as the dates entered on your new(used) Cypres (inside the box and on the red sticker), show the same 'insertion' date as what's shown on your expiring Cypres. The battery is then only being used for a two year period from its original insertion[email] date, although it has been in two differant Cypres units.
  7. QuoteThe slider change wasn't maditory but I wouldn't pack an original Raven reserve without the change. Many riggers felt the same. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Apoligies to Terry about my earlier post where I said that the mod was manditory. He is correct, it wasn't manditory, however my organisation (BPA) made it manditory and I have always considered it so. Once again, apoligies. Bill Sharp
  8. Quote The slider change wasn't maditory but I wouldn't pack an original Raven reserve without the change. Actually, the bikini slider change was manditory if the Raven was being used as a reserve. Raven 1's became Raven 1b's, Raven 2's became 2b's etc.
  9. OK, I'll bite. As a rigger with similar ratings and time in the sport as yourself, when I place a new reserve into service, I make a loop at the manufacturers mark and then sew it, instead of a tieing a knot. As long as the end product is the same length, I really fail to see that it makes any differance at all. Yes I know what it says in the manual, but there is more important things to worry about in rigging than whether a reserve has a knot or a sewn loop in the end. I equally doubt that PD really give a hoot or not which way it is done. Reallistic Rigging!!!
  10. I seem to have after directly contacting Nancy at Jumpshack. Thanks for all help and replies.
  11. Someone has already sent it, thanks to anyone still looking for a copy for me.
  12. Has any got a copy of what an actual Mil Spec document looks like, for example, Mil-W-4088. I am running a rigging course and would like to show the candidates what it actually consists of. Can someone either post a copy, or a link to a common Mil spec.
