  1. Agreed but the othher part of my question, was regarding God, is he considered perfect by mainstream Chrsitiainity? and if so do you agree with them?
  2. Well thats my experience. I have to say Ive never heard of any mono theist claim god is anything but perfect. I thought this was a standard assumption of the Abrahamic faiths. anyone disagree?
  3. Bilvon , are you suggesting that mainstream Chrsitianity does not think The bible is perfect, or does not think God is perfect? or both?
  4. Your not sure how a passage that says the those that dont follow jesus are like sticks that should be burnt might inspire somone to burn their religious opponenets. Really? You are aware that many Christians have burnt their opponents. Just as many Muslims states currently sotne to death adulterers. If religion had nothing to do with these crimes why is it that stoning to death happens in more religious countriues. I gues they just happen to be bad and the religions got nothing to do with it right?
  5. The world would be better if they followed Christs teahcings? So should they burn his opponenets as he said in John 15:6 "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned."
  6. Im not aware that the 19 hijackers of 9/11 showed particular evidence of ppsychological disoderes, now were they undereducated. What seem to unite them was an unshakeable belief in their cause. Perhaps you have some evidence otherwsie?
  7. Are you suggetsing the belief in after life of eternal sexual pleasure has no impact on a perosns d to become a suicide bomber?
  8. Yes the point is essential to our debate. You are implying scientific belief is on a par with religious belief. So do you think that is the case with the example I gave, where relativites "belief" has been confimred to 9 decimal places, scientiific 'belief" is on a par with religious belief?
  9. If all scientific questions were settled there would be no need for any scientific research whatsoever. That doesnt mean all scientific questions are still open. Some have a lot more verification than others. So the question is : where there is good verification, say in testing relativity to 9 decimal places. do you think belief in this conclusion is on a par with religious beliefs? forgive me if i dont take the lure and turn this into a climate change debate.
  10. Lets take an exmaple of a scientific "belief". Relativity tells us theres somethign called time dilation. This implies for example that we will observe time running slower for something in motion than at rest . But it doesnt just do that, it enables to calculate exactly how much slower it should run. This "belief" has been tested experimentally and the thoeries predicitons have been checked to be correct to ana ccuracy of least 9 decimal places . Care to name a religious belief that has been confirmed to 9 decimal places? If not I think we can conclude that scientific beliefs are not in any way comparable to religious ones.
  11. You say "something cant come from nothing " have you read this paper showing that the universe can come from nothing? "http://prd.aps.org/abstract/PRD/v30/i2/p509_1 Ironically its by Alex Vilenkin, a physicist that Christian theologian William Lane Craig loves to quote. If only some of these theologians would read the books they quote!
  12. Why trust without reservation? why not trust with reservation?
  13. Not looking for a debate, just curious to know what the results are.
  14. May I suggest the people that taught you through their life, havent got a clue what they are talking about? furthermore , its not hard to look up the word socialist on wikipeddia. Perhaps you might answer my other points?
  15. But evil seems to exist as long we have had history, so if evil is the result of free will then history seems t be telling us its pretty much in human nature for evil to occur.
  16. and can one have freedom without evil as the result?
  17. You an define evil how you want, however you define would you agree it comes from mans free will?
  18. Heres a question for theists: Is you contention that evil exists due to the free will of human beings?
  19. How is Obama a socialist? Do you even know what socialism is? I was taughht in economics that socialism is the idea that the workers should own industries either directly or indirectly via the state. Since I see no plans in Obama's legislative programme to nationalise the majority of Us busineses's, I would conclude he is not a socialist. In fact isnt he priavtising NASA launch business? Hows that socialist? Furthermore capitlaism is the idea that one doesnt need a top down planner to create effiecency in a complex system like an economy. This is exactly the same idea as in evolution. Im always perplexed at why Conservatives seem to supprot capitlaism and oppose evolution. Both are the same idea that effeciency results not from top down design but from competition. If things have got so much worse, where is you data to support this notion?
  20. I believ the Stanford experiment had a number of methodological flaws, read this: http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4102
  21. Sound like your book is simply parroting the utter nonsense foun in "the secret". Quantum mechanics does not imply one can create one own reality. Your intentions have no bearing on the universe.
  22. Actually one year at the free convention, I hired Mike And his amazing plane for a zero g flight. It was fun but each parabula lasted maybe 2-3 seconds and there wasnt huge amounts of room to move around.
  23. $5,000 . What did you think of the experience?
  24. You are not alone its v v hard, the most useful things Ive found was using the in air head sets. But they dont seem to have caught on, why I have no idea.
  25. Would love to hear nay feed back on whether its worth the whopping price tag?
