  1. good going man i kinda lied about my weight when i call ed the DZ taking me and have dropped 18 lbs in the last three weeks...so it looks like i will be about 308 on jump day..been working my arse off. "GOT LEAD?"
  2. I'm, going through AFF tomorrow and jumping a military rig due to my 300lbs weight. I'm curious if anyone could recommend a rig/canopy size for me after i complete AFF and get off student status. Does anyone no where i could get my hands on such a rig either military or not? I dont want to buy new so something used is what i have in mind. FYI the rig i will train on has 370 ft2 canopies. Prefer it not to be military since i've heard alot of DZ won't let you jump one because it is out of the "norm". (does that sound correct?) i dont see what the difference is, if i'm off student status and have a rig that is TSO'd for my weight. Anyone know of such a rig laying around that someone might want to get rid of? "GOT LEAD?"
  3. no worries...i've watched "Cutaway" about a dozen times in the last few weeks...and i haven't even jumped yet "GOT LEAD?"
  4. thanks for you reply...im very excited and look forward to meeting you too....just look for the big guy with the tears in his eyes...that'll be me. lol "GOT LEAD?"
  5. or i'll hate it..one or the other but knowing me, i'll be hooked..adrenaline is a wonderful thing "GOT LEAD?"
  6. I'm trying to relax but i think that might be easier said than done..lol "GOT LEAD?"
  7. that is too funny...i live about 10 minutes from elsinore too. i saw the event there and said it would be fun to go watch but i guess experiencing a jump is more important right now. "GOT LEAD?"
  8. thanks for the encouragement. i'm also glad to see everyone else giving it to me. I've worked my a** off to find a DZ to jump a 300lbs guy, and i'm excited as hell. i have been talking to several people at the DZ's around here and they have been the nicest people and very encouraging. If any of you know "Bear" and any of the other Sky SKum that jump at Perris tell them i said thanks for all of the support and offers. they were the nicest guys imaginable. Any way thanks to Prost for hooking me up at Moss Point and all the others who replied to my posts both encouraging and not. I'm not giving up this dream and after meeting the "Sky Skum" i know it is possible to jump at my weight, and these guys did nothing more than get me more excited. "GOT LEAD?"
  9. Anyone jumping there on saturday oct. 4th or sun. the 5th? I'm flying in from San Diego to start AFF. Why would I fly all the way to Mississippi to go skydiving? Cause I got to be one of the biggest guys ever to do it, thats why...and they said what the hell. OK enough jokes..looking for some encouragement (yes i'm scared shitless) and need to buy my new "friends" beer! Look me up. "GOT LEAD?"
  10. CONGRATS!!!!!! I start AFF on friday and hope to have it all done by monday. Soon i'll be there too. Man you gotta feel good BEER "GOT LEAD?"
  11. i live 15 minutes from perris and start AFF next friday (oct 3) but am flying to point moss, ms to do it. (300 lbs and need military gear) i would love to come up and watch you/meet you on saturday if you dont mind. im getting nervous and i think seeing/hearing someone after they do level one would make me feel better. message me if you wanna hook up. "GOT LEAD?"
  12. after lots of whining and crying lol i got a phone call this morning from Gold Coast Skydivers and i will be starting AFF in a few weeks!!!!!!!!! Wish me luck. "GOT LEAD?"
  13. ok i found someone here in california who will take me on a tandem jump but will only allow 5 seconds of freefall..DAMN. i also talked to gulfcoast skydivers and the instructor (lewis) that i talked to said they could do it and have the equipment on hand, and it would be the AFF course.. HOT DAMN!! only problem is he has to clear it with the DZ owner. IF ANYONE KNOWS THIS GUY please put in a good word for me...BEER WILL BE BOUGHT AND FED-EX'D TO YOU FOR YOUR HELP. can ya'll tell im stoked? "GOT LEAD?"
  14. im 6'2' and 300lbs.....um are you an instructor? lol "GOT LEAD?"
  15. i have tried them all here in socal and shut down immediatly due to the weight issue. but thanks for the help. "GOT LEAD?"
  16. ok most people say it is feasable but no one has given me a name or dz to help me out... come on guys help out the fat man
  17. i appreciate the advice...ive lost 70 lbs already but 60 + more is a lot. besides i look about 250lbs now and at 250 i look like most people do at 180-200. so losing the weight is always an option but damn it took me a year to get the 70 lbs off. i will do almost anything to start jumping even if it means just one jump.
  18. im begging to skydive but weigh 300lbs. can anyoine help me out?? i live in the san diego area but will fly anywhere (in the usa) to go. anyone crazy enough or can get their hands on military gear? i will go aff or tandem or static line as a last resort. "GOT LEAD?"
  19. i posted all kinds of questions a month ago, about weight limits and heaviest people to skydive. all your answers were appreciated by the way. well some of you said i was crazy and the guy willing to take me up was crazy too ( i happen to weigh 300lbs). well he has my credit card# and the ordering has commenced. gonna be spendy..gotta get our hands on military gear. luckily he has connections with the guys at Relative Workshop as well as military folks, and is good friends with the guys at the dz's here in so. california. i did alot of checking around and this guy is well known and has actually worked and made equipment for some movies. i meet him last saturday and feel perfectly comfortable in his ability. i dont think im crazy but you might. anyway...wish me luck. would this be the record for the "heaviest skydive" lol "GOT LEAD?"
  20. who was the heaviest person any of you have seen or heard of skydiving?
  21. ok if my weight is reasonable....where might i find a dz in southern california that might let me try it? by the way the guy i was talking about said the gear is recommended up to 500lbs but is tested to 750lbs. with his weight and the gear involvrd we would be around the 525-540 lbs range and he says in the right condtions we should be ok. he also said he would want to do it at another dz near the coast due to cooler condtions. AGIAN I NEED TO TRY IT! please someone let me know if it might be possible.. i would really like to go AFF but he said not a wise decision because it would be difficult for the two instructors to keep up on the way down. this doesnt make a lot of sense to me because back in science class things drop at the same rate..right? wouldnt someone my size create more drag to slow me down? "GOT LEAD?"
  22. does anyone know of "skydive palm springs" ??? im about 300lbs and wanted to skydive for ever and of course dont make the weight limits at any dz's. i talked to a guy who says he owns "skydive palm springs" but cant find any listings of one on the net. he says he will take me up under the right condtions and for about $500. does this sound fishy to anyone on here? The $500 doesnt bother me so much but not knowing anything about these guys does. thanks for any insight. "GOT LEAD?"
