  1. The 'Tanned' Beret is worn by the SAS in the UK, and a similar darker Tan by some of the Elite Infantry Regts. This is reconized as the symbol of hard work, determination and pure professionalism. If anything for some the new beret of the rangers symbolizes exactly that.
  2. Does anyone know of a company world wide whom purchases suiss watches in bulk order? PM me....
  3. Hey Dude Buy the PDR, PD reserves are the best reserve on the market in my opinion, I have had a few chops and my PDR has proved outstanding in every aspect.
  4. Skydive Ocana - Madrid is hosting Formation Skydiving Skills camps for beginner intermediate and advanced belly flyers with members of the swiss national 4 & 8 way teams. Individual coaching and emphasize on team development will be the main goals of the coaches. This event will run continuous throughout the summer in between the training scheduale of the Team. Skydive Ocana recently joined the USPA and is proud to be part fo a great organisation, and this week has been running AFFI certification course's to bring their existing staff upto speed and qualify them to the best standard.
  5. Hi My friend is from this country , I will speak with him over the weekend and get some info for you. regards J
  6. dude this is the funniest shit i have ever read !!!!! Duckwater you are truly a bro in the sport ! well done on taking the piss and defusing another thread, Oh man, this is freaking hilarious !! For those of you who dont know why this is funny go read ' desire to witness a fatality " thread.. you can be my neighbour anyday dude
  7. I knew I had seen this dude somewhere before !
  8. hey Chuck My friend Titou Auvery ( Former French 8way ) was one of the innovators / believers of the PAC method, I was privelaged to see some of the first dives he did with a girl at Annemasse DZ near Lyon Fr and without a doubt this is an incredible method of instruction. i agree with your post, Titou had 14000 jumps at the time and this going back a few years, and is one of the best flyers I have ever seen. Even though this method is brilliant in terms of student training and the AFF evolution process, I think our USPA ISP is just as advanced and achieves the same magic results if taught properly and combined with further Individual and Group Skills.
  9. great thread !! Hot debates as usual.. AAD's are mandatory here in Spain, I wouldnt jump without one, i have seen them in action and they are an incredible piece of equipment. I respect people who choose to jump with them and I respect people who choose to jump without. I choose to jump with an AAD.
  10. When Skys The Limit was in Montgomery NY .. Geoff Root used to get Pizza on a satureday for the jumpers to eat in the hanger... they were gereat !!!!!
  11. ' the Gorillas killed my brother too !!'
  12. Hey Everyone, very interesting inputs here, but lets not forget how this incident or close call happened. Glider Pilot ignores regulations of Airport, strays into Area at god knows what speed with tail wind ( on the day was high winds at altitude ), hears radio traffic from DZ GC and Jump Pilot, realises his error after talking to ATC and takes immediate evasive action ( his direction of flight is SW to their flying area, which is restricted to gliderz or aircraft on landing approach, AOB to jumpers ). Weather was clear day with patchy white clouds at 6K. The glider is clear in the picture because he is damn close !! The dudes jumping have a lot of skydives and believe me they know their shit, so checking airspace before jumping is second nature. This incident was treated with respect by all party's involved and agreements were made so as too prevent in the future, this is through the good spirit of the AirSports community. There was no finger pointing or whining, just the realisation that safety issues must be reviewed and thoses not in the know, must be briefed accordingly. Blue Skies !
  13. yeah... I even know a daft idiot that logs a jumps everytime the plane takes off, and he'll be on the ground with a cigarette in his gob ! .. well at least thats my theory coz for his jump numbers he can't fly his canopy for shit...
  14. actually big nose this is a picture from a colleque's camera...I wasn't on the jump.. so regardless of " whos fault it is ".. this pilot knew of the restricted 'parachuting Zone' that is in force at the airport. So both ways, this guy should have obeyed the strict law in force regarding Gliding and parachute operations, as stated in the briefings..and clearly indicated on the maps. Lack of correct radio proc' between Jump pilot & Gliderz flying within the Dropzone, is the reason we now have a great picture ! Please Enjoy and learn from this. Thats why i have posted it. But seeing as you have pointed out a valid point, I'll ask the dude did he look before he ... er " Leapt " Answers to the other members questions: kallend- we're in europe no FAR here... heidihagen- Gliderz here go upto 30k here sometimes.. they passed at 5-6K... they go fast gliderz... very impressive flying machines...wonderful too watch n23x- Still in FF dude When they passed, the glider pilot got on the net and tells airtraffic' i have just seen skydivers' he was then told to fly away from his location to the correct area. My friend landed white as a ghost.. but was quickly humoured by everyone " Should have took a dock "
  15. Man this dude strayed into a skydiver zone... you could see the whites of his eyes !!
  16. Yes, very good bit of kit, Chris the owner of headshield makes an excellent helmet, I have the side mount one and have done in excess of 2000 jumps with it. I jump professionaly and it had stood up to the rigours of tough AFF and being dropped scrapped and banged around. I have the earlier model from 2003 and since this version chris had made some major improvements. So next to the Rawa, this is my only preference. Buy one.. you'll be pleased.
  17. Gus Wing Always a loud laugh, always great enjoyment of the moment, always positive encouragement, a firm handshake and a smile.
  18. good effort !! I like the way he taps him twice at the end. ' hood style' !!
  19. Glocks...Definatly a good piece of kit, I had a Glock 17 as my issued PPW, very reliable and effective with the double trigger safety action. However... 9mm packs a punch but when you get re-issued a Glock 36 with the man stopping .45, and get groupings the size of tangerine over 30 meters... That 9mm just dont cut the mustard anymore. I like it..... a lot...
  20. Hey dude i was just about to write the same thing !! Yes it is a well know fact and high opinion that the British Armed Forces are the American Foreign Legion, or the Fighters from the 51st State.
  21. Ah a great subject ! A Tandem skydive is the best way to introduce freefall and CC to AFF students. On my FJ courses, I break the day after a brief synopsis on basic canopy control, by this stage the student is familiar with the level 1 dive flow, etc, and we go and do a Tandem together. Throughout the whole time we review what we have discussed in the previous modules, it is the perfect opportunity to Explain, Demonstrate and Practice with the student. I use the Tandem primarily to allow the student to fly the canopy and go through there flight pattern proc', to landing. All the time we are talking and sharing the moment so they understand what they have to do. It is easier to let them feel full flight, and a full flare by demonstrating rather than explaining with a pen / white board ( as do alot of schools ) After the jump we then break for lunch and crack on with the FJC, by this stage the student has a valuable visual reference to what you are talking about. And they are more confident for the level one. ( well... gagging for it more like !!! ) I highly recommend it !! This is a very important phase in my teaching method........And if you can implement this into yours do so !
  22. i have one... still putting it through the paces, but.. The plus points so far is the handling and function is the same as Dynax/Maxxum 7, so if you use this analoque modle you will love the 7D from the system design POV
  23. Stagging on as usual fella, doing a nice little number with some foreign ' you know who' types. Going to namibia soon to film a project, will be avaliable for viewing on a TV station near you soon. hows the jumping going? I heard your busy with Tandems?
  24. Thanks skydog, nice input. A sad case of ' do as I say and not as I do ' This thread was started with the good intention to share experiences and has turned into something other than what the origional subject was. I have had a few PM's from people telling me not too bother posting a subject because of the way it always turns into a bitch session. Thankyou to everyone for sharing their thoughts and the positive input is much appriciated. Blue Skies
  25. Me? innocent Me ? Naah.... never.... john you fat old shit? how the hell are you !! Any part of your body with skin visible I want to see it !! And Im not talking about your head ! Yeah I am getting a beasting here from all the goodie goodie know it alls... but what can I expect eh? a place to discuss a topic becomes a battle ground of ' I know this and blah blah blah wibble wibble ' Your banging the jumps out eh... good effort.
