Anyone know Lise Winters from the UK ? Im trying to look her up ....
3. Hey dude send me some pics of your 55... i haven't seen one that size
4. Hey thanks Guys this is great... I come from the xbrace clan and its hard to get peoples opinion without it being biased. I need this type of canopy for work, openings are everything and the last thing i need is a chop when I have a student to worry about ( Im going for my AFF finally ) so i need total peace of mind ( well a bit ).Problem with my FX is your have to fly it out of the bag. I actually refer the FX openings ( sorry Jyro.. I owe you a beer ) as a box of chocolates because you never know what your gonna get!! With only 1800 on them so far... i would say its consistanly good but not enough to for what I want a canopy to do.( I timed my descent from opening to Landing once and it was 50 seconds.. and that is no spirals and a few turns for setup ,oh and I am under canopy by 2k normally ).Oh and boy do the spin on a twisty one!!! I have seen the Spectre only a few times and to me it looks awesome..The guys fly it nice and it looks solid and lands great. ( These are skysurfer dudes ). OK I order a 120 and will post feedback when I get it and test. Big it up and Thanks !!
5. I dunno but I have to be one of the slowest!!! it took me nearly 50 jumps.... Weather... shitting myself....Unstable deployments...involuntary turning...and turns in the wrong direction..Taken 2 hours to flat pack and aweful canopy control!! so much so I got a trophy for it at the xmas party... Ah sweet memory's
6. Im ot sure if this link has been posted...but I found it interesting ..here it is http://www.avsec.com/editorial/vesna.htm
7. well look at a tandem passengers face as they make for the door, suddenly her expressions will change once she realises the dawnting prospect ahead...but shes knows theres no turning back ...this is it ...its now or never !! Then when she enters the realm all that inibition disappears and suddenly she realises its the best thing since sliced bread and wishes she'd had toast for breakfast all the time!!! WTF am I on about....
8. I have only ever owned 2 new canopys.... But when I got my FX,Gyro ( the designer ) told me it can take a few jumps for all the lines to tighten and to generally run in if you like.... One thing he did stress that was very important is prior too packing too untwist the break lines...because they become twisted when you pass through the guidering on the riser.... Now,some days i didnt do this and i had similar experience to you.... the canopy wanting to turn in one direction. But saying that.... I can steer the canopy by just shifting my weight in the harness... I cannot think why you had what you did,but I thought I'd share my unintention turn stories with you
9. Thats Loic from the Reunion Island. He jumps in Ampuria ( CPCB ) with the babylon crew... He has been perfecting this and doing lots and lots of training,so youre not watching a one off stunt, youre seeing the end result of a committed serious athlete..and youre seeing the START of some amazing shit to come!!!.He jumped from a chopper.... If you go to Ampuria you can meet the gang there, just go to babylon and they will be happy to chat away with you.
10. I need to hear some honesty people.I would like to hear from anybody who jumps a Spectre 120 or any Spectre Loaded at 1.4 ( approx ).Im not worried about the loading ,Im more interested in these questions; 1: Consistency of openings over 500 jump period 2: Performance in Turbulent conditions 3: The Flair and swoop performance. 4:The sink rate, and glide using risers or brakes. 5:How the canopy performs as a work canopy.... I need to get a second rig and this is an option I am seriously considering, but the only spectre120's I have seen are jumped by Skysurfers...and I put 1 jump on one which was nice but not enough to form an opinion. I am more concerned with question 1 and 5.... Big it up and Blue Skys Sneaky
11. Anyone tried it or have one....is it ? or is it ?
12. well done!!!!! go fly!!! I love Tandem Vid... this is the best work you can ( after deflowering Virgins first ) coz you get to some funny reactions from the passengers...

I get up and start drinking again or do a 10KM run to burn it off... Years of practise has taught me this!!!! and it works as well
14. Hey Dude I went through the same bollox... at 900 jumps I got my FX99...all the time should I ??..shouldn't I ??..But as soon as I had it WAHHEY!!! You know your limits mate...dont be intimidated by it being 90sq... its no comparison to a stiletto 97 so dont worry.I have flown a 77 ( Im 85Kg ) and it was manageble and great fun.....not a everyday canopy but one off nice... If I was you I would go for it.... and treat it with respect....and remember do it higher than normal ( way way higher.... ).. The only disavantage of a cross brace is when you get a spinner mal .... boy they can really go...watch out!! I had one and had too take the rest of the day off....
15. its hard when you have been in the surf inn all nite and Passorella til the suns come up .. believe me I have done it...!!!
16. a few words spring too mind.... slowly slowly softley gentley monkey its a big Long learning curve....... take it slow... and unless you getting 100% out of your canopy you have no need to change ( unless its really bad or not suitable ).For a canopy youre gonna need something reliable and suitable for your weight and experience .Concentrate on Accuracy and your freeflying ( remember for us pros the swoop is the icing on the cake at the End of the skydive ) learn the canopy and how it respond in all conditions when thats perfect, then your ready to take the step to learning your swoop technique.. I didnt start even trying to swoop until about 800 jumps and now these have progressed too 270' long carving riser turns...( But only when its the right conditions.. and I feel up for it..( All the time baby!!! )
17. Reinier runs the course... hes a cool guy so you should learn a lot. I say from my experience from working at CPCB and what I heard the structure is on safety and how to do things safely....tailored to your individual needs ... ( ie you're swoops are good...then Carve technique is on the main course or if you hook low then he will show you how to do it higher and safer and still swoop further .... or if your really good ,maybe he'll take you down to the muga for some pond swooping..I dunno ?) Instead of the old school way of look.. try and try again ( like me.. )...Reinier will help you progress in a safe manner and Im sure you will come away with a better understanding of your kit and conditions to fly in and your eyes will be wide OPEN!! Making you a safer better canopy pilot and for those around you. Hope this helps ps I no longer work there so this is not a sales pitch!!
18. I saw Simon in Spain, and he said they were sorting some stuff out at Icarus.... you probaly wouldn't have heard anything because its very hard to Internet access in Ampuria ....thats probaly why?
19. Hi the Designer and origional owner Paul Martyn ( Gyro ) for NZ Aeropsports ,which then became Icarus is a mate of mine....And hes a cool dude... What I can say is,and I dealt with him in 1998 when he was in NZ,I ordered my FX99 and had it a week later ( they weren't that popular then ).. his service and proffessiolism and after service care was fantastic. I have not dealt with Icarus as yet,but if it helps ,please remember that you have got a really good canopy, that has been through some intense design and testing. And from now on,the pleasure is yours!!.. Its no excuse for poor communications though... 170 jumps is nothing on the line life..,you should be able to get near 1000 before you need to reline.I put about 900 on mine with Microline before relining with Vectran lines... Blue Skies
20. I want to use this thread to congradulate an old mate Paul Gurteen who won the advanced round in Norway!! So well done buddy and great to see a Makkem do well!!!!
21. ***airlocked 27 cell... I agree... if PD where to do something next,I'd anticipate this move.Only Logical considering the line up they have already, which just about covers everyones needs. Maybe the ' K' stands for ' Kiss My Ass '
