  1. A guestbook has been set up to remember our friend Colin Hicklin, who was lost to a plane crash in Queensland, Australia on the 2nd January. Colin was the most genuine and big hearted person that I'm blessed to have known. Messages can be left at the following URL... http://www.guestbookcentral.com/guestbook.cfm?guestbook=38362 Fly forever free mate - you lit up the lives of so many people.

  5. Hi there, I shoot using TV - 500 with a tongue switch from these guys... http://www.conceptusinc.com/tongueswitch.htm ...which has a 2.5mm plug on it. I've found that by supergluing a small nut over the switch input on the camera (of about 3-4mm thick) it stops the jack going as deep in the socket. As a result it merrily clicks away using the settings you want rather than resulting to sport mode and you can fire off a number of shots without the buffer refresh getting in the way too much. Certainly a nicer option than re-wiring! Every day is a school day... Andy
  6. Hi there, Welcome to the digital stills age! I bought a Canon 300D (the UK name for the Rebel) last year and was faced with the same dilemma. I use a 19-35mm lens, set to 19mm and this gives me the same field of view as I get for my 28mm fixed lens attached to a conventional SLR camera. I got my lens from eBay. I've just checked and if you put "eos lens wide" in the seach field there are a number available, mostly from US suppliers (at around the 140 bucks mark). The particular make I've got is a Pheonix. Hope that helps - have fun with this awesome piece of camera gear! Andy
  7. Unfortunately not - got some team training duties to attend to that weekend (talk about forward planning!)
  8. A boogie at Nethers and Hib - a cool outcome I reckon! I'll apologise on behalf of the Hib collective for the spate of voting that was partly due to a group of bored skydivers being on a winded out DZ with an internet enabled computer to hand. But it has resulted in a number of new registrations and more interest in DZ.com, which isn't a bad thing. I was at the Eloy boogie X-mas 2002 and know what a sociable bunch the DZ.com crowd are - and look forward to when its Hib's turn to play host DZ. Have fun down there at Nethers...
  9. Top banana. It's happening on the weekend of the 20/21 Sept by the way. Laters, Plank boy.
  10. ...47 four way teams and 7 eight way teams - making 54 teams over the two weekends (I prefer the 47 teams in one weekend statistic though!) How's tricks Ivan? Are you going to the Birdman weekend at Weston in Sept BTW? Andy W.
  11. I've done a fair bit of roaming around different DZ's in my time and keep coming back to Hibble. I live just out of London and its my choice - the journey is well worth it. Superfast planes, more altitude than you can shake a pointy thing at and some really class parties to boot. I think the recent FS Nationals and the fact that 47 4-way teams completed all of their rounds out of two planes within two days speaks for itself! Not forgetting the super slick cameramen up there... Having said that, in line with what Craig said above, I've had some pretty class times at all of the other UK dz's - Hib just has that edge for me. There's just too much fun to be had out there...
  12. The makers have a website with on-line ordering... http://www.glassafe.com/catcrap.html Rigga
  13. Hmmm, yup, had this problem when I first started to jump a cam suit. It was a cheap 'n cheerful second hand job and not too long back I bought a new one, made to my measurements. It made all the difference - I always felt as if the suit was flying me, now the tables had turned and I could control things as I wanted, so I reckon the fit of the suit is a pretty important factor, for me at least. For filming FS, look though the formation and aim to keep the landscape as solid as possible - the more you film, the less conscious effort it would take. On an early cam jump I remember orbiting perfectly with a spinning 4-way - I felt ill watching the video afterwards! Happy filming, Rigga

Did my premier rodeo at the weekend - took a freeflyer friend of mine Laura for a ride on the back of my birdman suit - worked like a dream! Does that make me into a jumpship? There's just too much fun to be had...! Rigga
  17. Nice one - welcome to the flock! It just gets better and better - I'm working on my backflying now and trying to get tighter vertical transitions and docks. Hot-doggin' it across the wide blue yonder never fails to put a smile on my face....!
