  1. No thanks, I've had my fill of dirty thank less jobs

  3. Ah yes. I remember that one. It was a shipping mistake made by the now infamous Dirty Dave while he was working in my shop. He took one short riser intended for a smaller customers order and sent it out with a standard riser as a standard riser set and then sent the other small riser and one large one to the smaller customer. The other customer was more understanding and allowed me to correct the mistake with out making a big deal out of it. Of course, Dave, took no responsibility in the matter. I was out of town at the time it happened and learned about on DZ.com and after I had fired Dave for being incompetent. Instead of allowing me to make the situation right, the person who received the incorrect risers in the U.K decided to use the incident to slam me and my work. It is reasons like, asshole employees, and arm chair rig builders like you that led to my desision to no longer build gear. It is simply not worth the head ache and the money is certainly not good enough to put up with it. As to weather or not you care for the design, that is neither here nor there. They are a proven design with many thousands of jumps to their credit. I have over 800 rigs out in the world. The recent fataltiy at bridge day was the first and only fatality to date on any NEO. Do you have a track record like that? How many rigs have you built? Please show us your designs. I'd love to critique them here in a public forum as you have done. In closing I'll offer this. Show me a man who has made no mistakes and I'll show you man who has done nothing at all. Kevin
  4. The best gear out there is, with out a doubt, the gear you build for your self. Nothing else even comes close to matching the feeling of standing at the bottom of an object, alive and intact, wearing your own freshly unpacked design.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong but you are the one that found and posted a picture of a bunch of naked guys are you not.
  6. I personally make a concentrated effort to limit my time spent with naked men. But hey, thats just me you must concenntrate, and put effort into limiting your time with naked men? Thats funny! I would consider it an effortless task. But hey, that's just me. Don't worry, I'm not one to judge the choices of others. Hopefully your buds on the site are as understanding. Your over reaching with that one. Nice try though
  7. Humm.... hot tea, honey, lemon, and a trip to Vegas, yup, that would still be a nice trip with a strap on You forgot the drugs. There were drugs, too. How correct you are. Sorry, my bad

  10. At first glance, I thought you said you were on a bussness trip with a strap on.
  11. I got shopped by payment and I'm paying wayyyy more for the car then I wanted. BUT I'm not in a lease, I got the car for what I wanted to pay a month. Plus I'll never pay it off... Fair enough, but most likely you'll get less on the re-sale because you paid more at the out set and, your more likely to become "upside down" meaning you owe more on the car than it will fetch by selling it. Your also paying more in interest because the price of the car ended up being higher. Don't feel bad, it happened to me years ago and I learned my lesson the hard way as well.
  12. [you might get a loaded one for $1000 over invoice. Good luck! $1000 over invoice? $500 over invoice is all some one should pay according to my car dealing friend. He says that anything more than that means your not getting the best deal possible. The dealership needs to move cars off the lot fast in order to keep their discount with the manufacture. If a car sits on the lot for a week or two then the fleet manager starts to panic. $500 is a fair profit for the dealership to make on a car considering all they did was wash it once or twice and park it on the lot. My friend also says that buyers should never shop for payments. Doing so will cost you big. Instead, shop price and let the payments come out to what they come out to. If you shop payments, the dealer ship will always put something called "leg" in the payment (this is how the individual dealer makes his commission) and you will end up paying way more in the long run than you would have if you shopped price. Do this. When you get to the dealer, ask to see the fleet manager and the invoice for the car you want. The fleet manager does not make his or her money via sales commission. The person who approaches you out at the car does. Therefore, you will pay more dealing with him than you will dealing with the fleet manager. If the dealership balks when you ask to see the invoice, you should bail. They are going to try to screw you. They must keep a copy of the invoices for all the cars on the lot so if they tell you that they can't find it they are lying to you and continuing to deal with them will waste your time and your money. Happy hunting
  13. $10 says some one in your office rubs one out while looking at that.
  14. I was about to give you a full body check into the boards for your first reply but then you saved you're self with your second post. IMO, a simple piece of paper with a cute picture(hand drawn by the sender, not hallmark) and an "I love you" at the bottom is worth ten thousand of the purest diamonds
  15. Did you know that if a bear eats your entire liver, you'll die?
  16. I have never used Tacsew so I have no real opinion. I have used CONSEWS 20U, and I hated it. It was even a new one. But to be fair, I've had plenty of trouble with other Consew models in the past. Some times you get a good machine from them, some times you don't. But that is another discussion. I have also used the Artisan and thought that it was crap as well. Neither Consew or Artisan could hold a candle to a Bernia, Phaff, or even the original 20U. and I doubt that Consews 20U and the Artisan will stand the test of time like better made models have. It should be said that I am not a casual sewer. For thirteen years, my sole source of income came from sewing. Not over seeing sewers, but actually sewing my self. At the height of production, I personally produced over 100 complete rigs a year and did so for several years. As such, my standards might be a bit higher than some one who occasionally sews a patch on a jump suit or replaces a piece of velcro. (By the way, I'm not trying to brag, I'm simply putting things into perspective.) When I sit a machine, I expect it to do what I want the first time. Not constantly jam, get knocked out of time or bust needles as often as did the Consew and the Artisan. Personally, I don't think thats too much to ask. I guess I am a bit jaded towards knock off 20U's because I have never found one that was worth my time or my money. Kevin

  18. the only 20U type machine I recommend for use in container work is made by Singer and even those can be less than wonderful if the operator is not an expert. However that being said, the singer 20U is used extensively by some major manufactures with very nice results but the operators at the above mentioned manufactures tend to be very skilled. Most if not all other 20U knock offs are cheaply made with light duty parts and are simply not up the heavy task of container work. As to the specific name of Gemsy, I have no experience with it but I'm betting its not worth the money you'll spend on it. If some one else has had good results with that brand I'd like to hear about it but, most likely, its built more for the home market where the sewing needs are not as demanding as they are in this sport.
  19. Nothing like a little black stinky death to start off the day. I certianly hope that you get a hold of the rigger that did it. This is one fuck up that should not be swept under the rug.
  20. Here! Here! Couldn't agree with you more. Winning has less to do with building character than losing does. If a kid never has to be strong enough to move on after a loosing, then how will he or she accomplish it as an adult? Therapy? Chemistry? Yea theres a solution.
