  2. Couple of things: #1 I hope that you are being facetious about the power-tool thing. If you are using anything but your own strength to close the container, the pressure on your pin is going to cause more problems rather than solving any. Yes, you need a tight (tighter) pin when freeflying...no doubt about it; however, your problem is that the pin is being exposed, not that it isn't tight enough. #2 See a RIGGER. Or better yet, a MASTER RIGGER. They may be able to help you customize the closing section of the container to catch your rig better. I have seen this done to a couple of rigs. ...both, at the pin cover and riser flap cover. Usually, they will be able to provide a remedy. #3 Try posting this on the "Gear and Rigging" section of this forum. There are people who frequent that section just to help out in this area. #4 Don't be afraid to contact the manufacturer. Even if you purchased the container second hand, these companies are usually VERY happy to stand by the product. Javelin is a premier container, the company has been around for a loooong time, and nothing less than quality customer service should be expected. HOPE THIS HELPS!!! -David
  3. Hey Scott, VERY COOL! I noticed you guys the other day at the DZ. Wish I could have been there to check out the video and landing. I had to leave early that day to go back to work. Kudos to your sister... Now she is OUR sister too!! -Dave C.

A few more links are available with Pics from Project Horizon!!!! The first pages are managed by Craig "9-Toes" Amrine and they are his pics. The next one is managed by Adam Rosen. The last one is by Guano Freefly - some of the lead organizers of the event. Here are the links: http://homepage.mac.com/craigamrine/PhotoAlbum42.html http://homepage.mac.com/craigamrine/PhotoAlbum43.html http://www.freeflyfoto.com http://www.guanofreefly.com/PH2links.htm Also... The links that have been provided (Bobby's, Adam's or Craig's) offer print outs of the pictures. Depending on the size, prices range from about ~$30 to ~about $80 or so. I think the largest size is 13X17... but don't quote me. Note the latest pics of some extra curricular fun that we had during a clouded over day. Stuey and I shooting rockets at people, dressing my remote control car up with FAT BASTARD and video, running it through fire, then taking it down the highway and into WAL-MART LOL, ...and of course, the topper, dressing selwin (sp?) up in Reynolds Wrap (naked underneath) from head-to-toe, and making him run around the swoop pond at night in the middle of a lightning storm. It would have been ugly if he got hit by a bolt, but hey, we had a doctor in the hangar - what the heck!!!!
  5. That's great! Get as many coach jumps from Mike as you can. I've tried coaching with a few of the greats, and in my opinion, Mike Ortiz is THE best.
  6. I was twitching in bed for a few months after my first jump. Keep going, it only gets better and better and better!!!!
  7. My flying dreams were fun. I used to go all over the neighborhood and visit friends. Only problem was that in order to fly, I had to hold my breath. So, much like true freefall, my flight never lasted long. However, it was very cool to fall horizontally. Can't tell you guys how many times that I woke up because I was out of breath. LOL
  8. Hey, just thought to help you a bit. A good rule of thumb in sit flying is to use angles to your advantage. Of course, like many things in freeflying, there is no one correct way to do anything. That is the beauty of the sport. Although, to be a more dynamic flyer (and by that, I mean capable of moving to different positions), try to fly your sit position with 90-DEGREE ANGLES ALL OVER THE PLACE. ...at the knee, between the waste and thighs, in between the legs (yes the crotch), underneath the arms, etc. You can still move forward and backward by using your body as though it was sitting in a reclining chair. No need to bring your legs together. Arms back, pelvis forward, legs forward a little. And to move backward, it is just the opposite. Arms slightly forward, pelvis back, and legs in slightly. You may notice that your backward movement is more sensitive than the forward - and that is quite normal. Make sure that you get used to countering your momentum (i.e. recline for forward movement then lean in to counter for just a second). You'll find that the pelvis plays a HUGE roll in freeflying -whether it be on your head or feet. It is the one part of your body responsible for your horizontal movement in the vertical position - in any 360-degree 2-dimensional direction (forward, back, and sidesliding). Take it one jump/step at a time. Be safe and have fun trying. -David
  9. Yeah, it was probably one of the more difficult ones that we did. Can't remember which organizer said this...(think it was Storm) but he said, if it was any formation that he would have liked to have completed, it was that one. Good stuff.
  10. Welcome. You are at a crossroad my friend; once you walk down this path, your mind will always resist anything else. Enjoy your new freedom.
  11. Cool! My chicken will be standing at attention waiting for the request. lol

  18. You're so sweet, Shanie... Thanks. Headin to DZ in 15 minutes. You guys gonna be around this weekend?
  19. Yeah! That is a cool idea - Toe Taps. "There's no place like an eagle." Thanks Sunnydove.
  20. Hey, I was one of the Dave's there too. hmmmm... It's all good.
  21. The Universal Signal for F$%ked is a signal index finger point, with a great deal of friggin emphasis, while simultaneously providing several faces that resemble these: . Not really sure what they are doing with the riser covers. I do know that the receiving flap is going to be much like the 2.5...which is stationary. It would be best to call up Sandy at Rigging Innovations and ask him more about it. If you are continuing to experience problems with the VOODOO 2.0, you should let him know about it.
  22. Just an FYI for all you Voodoo owners out there. I own a Voodoo 1 size V1. Actually just purchased it off of eBAY. Nice rig, but within 1 week I had two minor malfunctions. These were caused by, what I believe to be, the shoulder harness coming untucked. Now, I know this is a common problem and that many know about this. However, I feel that it is a good idea to report it to whomever wishes to read on this forum. Malfunction 1... while I opening, my steering line came unstowed and tangled in the ajacent lines. This sent me into a spin on my crossfire 109 until it was untangled. I was two seconds away from chopping when it came untangled. Malfunction 2... Steering line came out during freefall. During a big way head down jump (at a prominent freefly meet) at my home DZ, the steering toggle was hanging out of my rig and down at about knee level. A very level headed (and well known) person on the skydive gave me the universal signal for "You Are F#@KED"; and my thanks goes out to him. NEEDLESS TO SAY... I am not jumping the container right now. It is on its way back to rigging innovations to have ALL of the appropriate modifications. Side panels and shoulder covers will be replaced - and whatever else they do. The owners of the company ARE VERY HELPFUL with getting you started. Moral of the story... And this is just a suggestion... If you own a VOODOO 1 and have had a similar experience, get off your butt, pay the 30 bucks (or so) for shipping, and send that container back to RI in Eloy. BE SAFE UP THERE! Blue Sky's Vertify
