In order of effectiveness, from my experience: Ambien Dr. Ben (Benadryl) A good book

I personally can't fault Airtec for this latest incident/development. As some people choose to push the performance envelopes of their canopies, speeds are being generated that approach that of freefall. Common sense to me dictates that this could be a problem when jumping an AAD. I think we need to take some personal responsibility for our actions and choices within the sport. We all must learn from our tragedies and experiences...so hopefully this latest incident will help us develop safer procedures and equipment within the swooping discipline. Perhaps the short term solution is to turn an AAD off before executing super high performance maneuvers under small canopies, now that we know it can prove to be a problem.

Funny thing happened on my Sabre....Opposite of a hard opening
tsisson replied to mdrejhon's topic in Gear and Rigging
Typically, rolling the nose "tightly" will not produce the intended effect of a slower opening, as the tighter you roll...the more it will want to unroll (the nature of ZP). Try rolling it loosely...ie, if you roll 4 times tightly, try rolling it 4 times but more loosely. You will find that the material will stay rolled after you release it and wrap the tail. -
I second that...

You could try calling someone in the department, a receptionist or assistant and inquire as to the status of the position...i.e. has a hiring decision been made yet. You might send a second letter/e-mail re-iterating your interest in the position and that you look forward to hearing what the next steps would be. Include in that note a statement to suggest "I can provide additional information such as references or samples of work to assist you in making a good hiring decision". Good luck!

If it were me...drinking alone...I would move it to the 3rd bottle status, that way when you start drinking it you are already wrecked and it wouldn't matter if it were a bottle of Opus1 or a bottle of Boones Farm...

What are the Natural Disaster Risks where You Live?
tsisson replied to lawrocket's topic in The Bonfire
In Arizona, an air conditioner breakdown in August is considered a natural disaster. I know, it happened to me last summer....tragic. -

AMEN brother...I've thought about this same thing for some time, and too have been frustrated at times especially when jumping at an unfamiliar DZ with the various landing "cultures". I think the simplest thing is to communicate about the pattern and direction of landing before getting on the aircraft. Communication means discussing things like light and variable/shifting winds etc... One of the golden rules to Skydiving is "Always have a plan". Discuss the landing plan before getting on the Aircraft...execute that plan.

The Right to Bloat, or, Jabba flies Economy class

I'm a big fella...but don't take up more than my own space. I was on a flight once where there were three of us big fella's in the same row. We were all in the 6'3 to 6'5 and 250 lb range. I've got to tell you, we were a team in that row...alternating the lean forward/lean backward positions for the whole 4 hour flight. Comic relief for the flight attendants and other passengers, as we were moaning and groaning the whole trip. -
What in the hell is an "up jumper"?

I'm relating...I just lost my beautiful happy young lab to liver cancer last week. She was only 2 1/2 years old. Brought her in to the vet for what we thought was a tummy ache, turned out she was bleeding out internally...emergency surgery found her liver was lacerated by the tumors. She didn't make it out of surgery. We never saw it coming. My dog was truly a great friend and companion...so I can relate to what you must be feeling. I too have no interest in heaven if our animals cannot go...

I swallowed a toad on a $25 dare when I was 11...threw it back up 5 minutes later, but 25 bucks when you are a kid is like winning the lottery. It was horrible though... -
Flints in Oakland California...period.

I have paid attention to the thread...and I am well aware that the protesters are not on the Presidents lawn. Point being...screw up as bad as our commander in chief and you will get "jobless stink hippies" all over lawns in your area. They probably did vote for someone else...but then again, Diebold and Katherine Harris happened. And regarding the last drooling veggie...I believe it was our President, Tom Delay, and Bill Frist that were wasting their time on that along with the "stink hippies".
