  1. Byron is now open Wednesday-Sunday. Best to call out and see when the tandems are showing up Wed-Fri to get an idea of how many loads will be flown.

  2. From NorCal, a frequent sight at Rich Grimm's boogies.
Life of the party and really nice guy overall.
A solo car accident last Friday morning.

  6. Anyone know if anyone/who is currently in charge of Muff Brothers numbers? I've been sending in names but no one has been added to the "official" site since March 2015.

  7. Ok, this isn't about the Original Beagle chant but a reply chant that came out of the Northwest, probably Idaho. I heard it it from some guys, at least 15 years ago at Lost Prairie.
It started off "Cat shit, rat shit, fry it in a pan" and ended up with "We're the " name of group, "Motherfuck You"

If anyone out there knows the complete chant and its origins I'd like to hear from you.

  8. While it is really great to be staying at the Prairie, you won't be the only one commuting home to a cabin. If you're staying at McGregor Lake most of the cabins are rented to jumpers.
When it's hot, lots of folks will be heading to the lake anyway.
And nothing says you have to leave when jumping stops.

Either way you're going to have an unforgettable time.

  9. Hey John, glad you're enjoying Hawaii. Even though I've avoided rotator cuff surgery so far, I've decided that my next tandem physical will be my last one, so 2 years later I will retire from tandems. Even though I'm feeling healthy and know a few guys who have continued into their 70's, my own personal feeling is that passengers don't need to put their lives in the control of someone whose chances of stroke/heart attack are in the higher percentiles. IMHO. But don't want to get into an argument with anyone who feels otherwise.

  10. SOSFest 2016, in memory of Bud La Pointe is happening April 11th & 12th at Lake Elsinore, prior to the SOS World Record Attempt. A chance to jump with other SOS members for fun in Bud's memory. We will be having 4 way scrambles and a PC untangling contest on Monday and 10way Speed and Hit-and-Roll Accuracy on Tuesday.

We already have Andy Harris and Doug Garr for team captains and could use a few more. If anyone wants to shoot team video in exchange for your jump ticket please let me know, we could use you.

    Working on lodging discounts.

Come and play and support Bud's memory and the SOS record attempts.

There is also an event page on Facebook so you can indicate you're coming.

  11. I like the idea of cross connectors sewn into the risers. Any CReW Dogs see any problems with that? Also interested in knowing what the demo guys are using. We used to connect our French links for temporary stirrups but since lots of folks are using Slinks, would you trust a Slink for a stirrup connection? I considered using mini carabiner clips as attachment points to the slinks do keep wear down but haven't actually done it yet. Thoughts?

  12. Rear riser flares worked well for me on my Sparrow, but I was always ready to PLF. One thing not mentioned here yet, always look up and make sure you have the rear risers, due to the configuration it was easy to reach up and grab the front risers if you didn't look, resulting in much harder landings.

  13. Yeah, so much for "free stowing" your lines after that. The Altitude Shop had a highspeed video/movie of free stowed lines coming out of the container that was one of the scariest things I'd ever seen.

  14. Possible simple fix: We had a guy at our DZ who was having a similar problem, video showed perfect body position on opening but bag twisting almost right away. Turned out final line stow was too tight, causing bag to begin rotating. Loosened it (used larger rubber band) and problem went away.

hope it's this easy for you too.
