  1. http://youtu.be/lpnMWT-BCrU Thank you coick. Reading your post helped me a lot. Very good information. Original (ouch) post is above.
  2. My "idiot" best friend - well he feels like shit, as he should Nobody here claims to be an expert. I'm just saying that fucking burble caught us up. That was our first RW in the tunnel. That said, I was wrong posting this. I'm gonna re-post the vid for educational purposes. WE sure learned a lot. I'm mending and can't wait to hit the overnight next month. That said - now I am reading all your posts. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeXcERUtY30 (first try)
  3. I think I'm starting to figure this culture out. So yes, my helmet smells like my balls. I am curiously wanting to make that stop. My balls smell great. However, I typically wear that thing 2 to 3 hours per week (walking around wanking of course) but I'd like to smell more like........ happy puppies. LOL WTF - I just want to remove the sweat smell! (welcome to DZ.com, eh?)
  4. Broke 2 ribs here... I won't go on about what an idiot this guys was changing the plan up mid fly and sliding into, and then DIVING into my burble. Maybe we wind tunnel folks need to talk about this more. I was just playing around with a 2-way in the tunnel - I had no idea I'd crack two ribs on the outcome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY1ZfL6DyIs
  5. Personal story? Sorry to hear. Mine just smells like a jock strap, which may or may not be Ok to you but isn't OK for me.
  6. Isn't there something made just for this? Being a full face, I'll be breathing that crap in (and as I'm learning some crazy stuff I pant pretty hard after each go-round). I'll ask around the tunnel - but wouldn't either of those kind of have residual smell/effects? And no, the lining can't be removed unfortunately. My luck I'd end up shrinking it anyways. LOL
  7. Got a full face Phantom X (love it) and use it a LOT in the tunnel, but being the Orlando tunnel, it's pretty hot and I sweat a lot and it's starting to get.... "funky." What should I get to spray in that thing to refresh it?
  8. I have a lot of hours in the tunnel (Orlando) and am practicing belly to back 1/2 flips (and vice versa). I was having a hard time so I thought "oh I'll just use a bigger suit" - BAD IDEA! That super puffy suit made every little adjustment I did WAY over the top and it felt like I forgot how to fly. Needless to say when I'd botch the last 1/2 of the flip onto my back I'd go driving into the wall or be flipped back over to standing or belly. Nevermind trying to walk around! I certainly am going back to my well fitting suit.
  9. Thanks guys... I have been studying this along w/ your feedback and I think I have it nailed. We will see in my next 75mins in the tunnel next week. LEGS IN/KICK/ARMS OUT. It's a start! LOL Love body flight and back at it next week! Thank you!
  10. Overall, this is a great tunnel. I live and work no more than 10 mins from the tunnel, so that is awesome. I flew some of the newer recirculating tunnels which are also wider and it made me realize the age of the MCO tunnel. The staff is amazing and really wants to see you progress, plus it's a hop skip and a JUMP! to Deland dropzone, but I think it's time for an overhaul. Lots of tourists, but that can be fun if you are experienced and want to spend you last few seconds of a block showing off. The prices are totally fair, better than most, and they offer all kinds of special deals. This is my home tunnel, and honestly I love it and have learned so much there. The hike up the stairs is always full of anticipation of what I'm going to do next.
  11. I'm strong, I can handle it. WTF am I doing wrong on these rolls in the tunnel??? In the sky - it's not a problem. (go ahead and mute the music - trust me). I was proving a point to a fellow Rainbow boogie friend. haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFACdo5OOWE
  12. Thanks all for your advice. After my last back-to-back (over a week) 75 mins I learned A LOT! I got the leg drop down (and even the double leg drop - though the first few times I can now understand the EXTREME backslide risk (I ended up standing once - and it was a hard landing on my feet (and the wall) - but I stuck it and walked out (with 30 seconds left in my turn as I was pretty freaked out)... That was an eye opener and got me to walk/stand --> belly --> 1/2 barrel --> back --> 1/2 barrel --> belly --> stand/walk in just a few more sessions. THAT is fun stuff. :) The display is messed up at the Orlando tunnel - so I can just go off percentage as the MPH is not accurate (said something like 75mph for me at 90%. But I fly 80 - 90% (maybe a little higher for when I try sit). Another thing I learned is super high speed "dime turns" - I don't know what you call them exactly but imagine being 1 foot off the net and your bottom of arch (crotch) is dead center, drop one arm, raise the other (from mantis) and proceed to spin (of course using a really solid leg "kick"), in place, very very fast 7 or 8 times before I think I'm going to puke and do a hard counter to stop, on a dime, all over that same axis like someone put a stick through my crotch and spun me REALLY fast... LOVE IT! I always wondered what zero gravity felt like - and I'm still wondering, but this will do for now considering it's in my backyard basically. Now, I'm selling organs for my next 75 minutes. Anyone need a not so great liver? hehe
  13. You certainly can participate! You should think about spending about 10 more minutes in there and then getting a private coaching session for 15 minutes. It's a little pricey but you'll walk out quite proficient on your belly most likely. Also be on the lookout for deals from iFly - like them on Facebook. They often have "last minute" deals where you can score 1/2 price time or the like. I go up to LiquidSky saturday to get fitted for my very own tunnel suit fitted - THAT'S how much I love the tunnel. So glad you enjoyed it! Wait till you do it when it's cold out - the wind gets "thick" and it's a whole 'nother experience....(albeit a pretty cold one!) And if it's raining - Oh just you wait for that moment. Dove in there not realizing it was raining (hard) once and thought little pebbles were being sucked up into the tunnel and right into my face at 120mph. I did that twice before getting a full face helmet. :)
  14. The tunnel is a lot of fun. It will give you the basics of freefall but OVER doing it led to me getting tunnel legs on my first solo jump (basically I can fly in the tunnel with crappy form and have fun now but put a 20lb+ student chute on me and that don't fly so well - literally - legs were almost on my butt! ) Either way - enjoy the tunnel, and yeah - get decent at it (RELAX is key) and then share time and blocks with me! I'm there all the time. . It's much cheaper (but still very expensive) that way.
  15. They keep telling me to pull a leg in while on belly.... when I do that I do a sharp leg turn. Which is fun and I decent pretty quickly however, not the goal. :) They max the tunnel out for my back flying and (piss poor) sitfly. It's the Orlando tunnel and one of the older ones so "maxed out" is about 140mph. I know when I leave a plane (fully loaded) I'm hitting around 130mph as evidenced by the copious weight belts my instructors wear. I'm going in for 75 minutes the week after next and will talk to my coach about this. Thanks.
  16. I"m pretty good with the tunnel. I can get around, spin, walk, go walk to back, and even a little (horrible) sit. I just want to really enjoy the tunnel. I'm wrapping up AFF next week. Honestly - Bodyflight in the tunnel is more fun for me. :)
  17. They keep saying this - but I'm missing it. What is knees low? - the bounce back is not a problem and I'm good with a solid de-arch. Thanks!
  18. So one of my favorite things in the tunnel is to soar up and down very fast (and I'm still very much learning bodyflight just now venturing into basic backfly). I got the basics down, but the instructors seem to be able to rocket up and down and bounce off the net and back up again. How the heck do you make yourself decent REALLY fast (while on your belly)? I have arched till I thought my back was going to break and still can't quite get that super decent speed. I also pull my arms and legs in to make my surface as small as can be.... Still can't quite get that "falling" I'm looking for. Any advice? Going up fast I have pretty down... THANKS!
  19. Are you from the NE area? I grew up on Candlepin in W. Mass.....
  20. After my buddy's cutaway line over and BOTH of us having hard openings we are heading to packing school ASAP. :) Deland gets busy and I wonder if that has something to do with it?
  21. PD 280 loaded at about .85 (I'm 230-ish out of plane). Either way that shit HURT like holy hell and I spend the first 2 minutes of canopy finding ways to move the leg straps down my thighs. :) And yes I tend to be pretty stable belly to earth. A little more leg pressure has done wonders however. :)
  22. OMG - just found out my buddy had a spinning line over mal on his level 7!!! He didn't want to freak me out so he didn't tell me but our instructor mentioned it in passing and I was like WHAT!? He handled it like a pro. Needless to say, I bought plenty of beers for him tonight! :)
  23. Ironically we love bowling post-sky-dive. Kind of a nice come down from the thrill. Oh, and they have beer. :) Buddy KILLED level 7 and I was under the weather. Monday is my day to make this up (we are very competitive). LOL
  24. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm looking into prescription sport goggles. Figure I could use them for skiing as well as those goggles also cause me all sorts of problems. I can't stand contacts and have tried to wear them several times and it's been a nightmare. I have very sensitive eyes and the contacts turn them all red and puffy and it just sucks. Gave up on those. Lasik is something I'm thinking of doing, though my eye doctor told me to hold off as they are about to start a new technology where they put temporary contact like lenses fused to your cornea. They can remove them later if your eyesight changes (and I have a complicated astigmatism so lasik isn't even guaranteed to fix it totally). I like the feeling of the wind rushing on my face and the "open" feeling of an open face helmet, so I think the prescription goggles are the way to go (and so says my instructor).
  25. My last few jumps (AAF 3-6) have been great in terms of openings. Speaking with my instructors my body position on jump 2 (the one with the hard open) may have had something to do with it. I was looking down, de-arching, and had my feet on my butt at pull time. Either way, now I make VERY SURE to get a super arch going before yanking the toggle. My buddy and me are all bruised up but still loving it. Like we say to each other - you DID sign up for skydiving, right? :)
