I met Mike in 1979 at Kunsan Air Base Korea. I was 19 and had about 150 jumps, and was eager to keep jumping despite being stationed in Korea. He was a Lieutenant flying F4's at the time. Mike would drive me and a civilian named Lee Mitchell up to Seoul one weekend per month where we could jump out of Army Huey helicopters all day Sunday. I still have a SCR application, with Mikes' signature as well as 10 others. At the time, that 11-way was the largest formation in Korea. I cant recall the name of Mikes "back-seater" in that F4, but he told me a few amazing stories about Mike, that I will not share here, but I do know that of the 2 squadrons of fighter pilots on the base, Mike was the most accurate at bomb placement. Mike was quite a character. Blue Skies Mike

One day, Adam was talking to God. Adam; "God, i have something to ask you...Why did you make Eve so beautiful?" God; "Well Adam, so that you would love her." Adam; "But God, why did you make her so friggin stupid?" God; "Well Adam, so that she would love you"

The weather changes, with or without human involvement. From the article... "For example, as Earth was emerging out of the last glacial cycle, the warming trend was interrupted 12,800 years ago when temperatures dropped dramatically in only several decades. A mere 1,300 years later, temperatures locally spiked as much as 20°F (11°C) within just several years. Sudden changes like this occurred at least 24 times during the past 100,000 years. In a relative sense, we are in a time of unusually stable temperatures today—how long will it last?" http://geology.utah.gov/surveynotes/gladasked/gladice_ages.htm

Republican alternatives to the ACA aka Obamacare

HR1321 [url]http://scalise.house.gov/bill/american-health-care-reform-act •Fully repeals President Obama's health care law, eliminating billions in taxes and thousands of pages of unworkable regulations and mandates that are driving up health care costs. •Spurs competition to lower health care costs by allowing Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines and enabling small businesses to pool together and get the same buying power as large corporations. •Reforms medical malpractice laws in a commonsense way that limits trial lawyer fees and non-economic damages while maintaining strong protections for patients. •Provides tax reform that allows families and individuals to deduct health care costs, just like companies, leveling the playing field and providing all Americans with a standard deduction for health insurance. •Expands access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), increasing the amount of pre-tax dollars individuals can deposit into portable savings accounts to be used for health care expenses. •Safeguards individuals with pre-existing conditions from being discriminated against purchasing health insurance by bolstering state-based high risk pools and extending HIPAA guaranteed availability protections. •Protects the unborn by ensuring no federal funding of abortions. -

how much skill is needed to deal with malfunctions?

>Somehow the parachute came out as soon as I >jumpedm, I guess something must have tugged at >it in the ride up, however the chute didn't unfold, it >just hung there above me, I think that it is important to know that if your main container opens in freefall, the first move is to throw the main pilot chute, then deal with the probable bag lock. -
I was temperarily assigned to Fort Gordon in May, 1980, when I showed up at Barnwell with 100 jumps. Bobby checked out my rig and logbook, then promptly took me up to do a 4way with him, Jeff Mellinger and some guy named Phil. Logbook #1 says I made 4 jumps with him that day. At the time he had more jumps than anyone I had ever met. I remember he always had a jug of sun tea sitting out. Some of the other names I can make out are.... Vance Frierson, Darell Linden, Joan Latimer, R. Cash, Frenchy, Pat and Patty. I had a lot of fun the 2 months i was there. Bobby and everyone else made me feel welcome. Rest in peace Bobby

July 21, 1979, Waynesville Ohio, the FJC was $45.00 because we could not get the minimum of 5 for the group rate. DRCP's, (thats dummy ripcord pulls for you low-timers) were $15, but it went down to $12 for subsequent "student status" jumps. After I spent $250 for a used rig, (SST with a strato-star and round reserve), another $60 for a new hotdog p/c, repair of a rip in the main and a reserve repack, the cost of jumps were $1.50 plus $1.00 per 1000ft,($8.50 to 7500ft). Sweet dreams and flying machines.....

I used to believe that my main parachute took 500 or 700 to open. After I bought a digital altimeter it became clear that it took 800 to 1100 feet from releasing the p/c until the slider was down. Booth Law #1 "The lower you pull, the longer your parachute will take to open, and the more likely it is to malfunction."

That was more fun than I've had in a long damn time. I'd do that every weekend!!!!!! Dave, do you have the individual event standings or any of the raw scores? tt
