  1. recently i did a little searching on side-spins in the forums apparently there is still very little knowledge of this phenomenon out there, how and why side-spins develop and how to get out of them if you are unlucky enough to find yourself in on in my training as a strong-TI i had to do some solos inducing side-spins and recovering from them and i must admit it was a big eye-opener on how fast you can spin being solo... so how many of you actually went into a side-spin on purpose (solo of course) and what are your experiences? 3. i do not question this i guess ted strongs philosophy on this one is: never change a system that has prooved to work. i agree, that strongs don't look neat and tidy and when it comes to comfort, there is definitely room for improvement. but the value of a gear or design can't be measured by appearance yep. nothing to add here The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
  4. the whole arguement, that only bill booth has all the innovations in the industry and everybody else out there is just copying them and therefore other gear just plain sucks tends to get boring one could argue, that the design of the sigma system is just an answer to inherent design flaws in vector 2 systems The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
  5. nice can of worms... i'll give it a shot Being on the same page should be out of any question. if a staff can't agree on rules and on how what should be done, it's a sign of poor decision-making. back to real life: let two people explain the same thing, you'll get two answers using different approaches. nece you can be on the same side and still sound different. i guess the most important thing would be a consenus, that only the teaching staff (affis & coaches) is to work with students, all others (yes we know you have the best intentions) - STFU & go foxtrott oscar The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

  10. without any doubt it will be the same old "we have the best plane, the coolest jumpers, the nicest bbq's, best packers yaddayaddayounameitwhehaveit and if you don't name it and we don't have you wouldn't want it anyway" kind of advertorial sentences we are all to tired off. I'll take bets on this one any time The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
  11. again: RTFM. if you (the general you, not to be taken on a personal level, you know) don't want to play by the (really simple) rules, STFU if you wake up in a place where you didn't want to be sometimes ignorance is bliss, most of the times it's just a royal pain in the you know what The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

  14. when the book came out, something like 25 years ago, it was a huge bestseller, that topped the bookcharts for years in the hardcover version i have no idea how the language works in the english translation, but in german it was (and still is) something very special. i didnt want to watch the film, then i said what the heck, its not going to ruin the book. basically its a 1:1 adaption, still the book is what it is: a great piece of fiction as for the "orgy scene being a bit over-the-top" - whats your beef with that one? 15. so there's this extremely boring interview-section with prefabricated questions, with the answers edited down to something like three lines. if this was changed to a real interview, where it didnT matter if it cover three pages, well.... 22. you forgot sunflowers - my guess these are even worse than corn. ripe sunflowers (the head) before harvest weigh something like 3-4 pounds and the plant is full of hook-like stuff trapping lines. i'd say this beats corn any time btw: up to now i've avoided landingin any of the mentioned plants The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

  24. did you try fronts, rears, flying in deep brakes, cross-wind landings? you can fly a nitro 150 @ 1.3 like an accuracy canopy. I doubt you can do this with a Safire just my 0,2 The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
  25. ok - you got me i have a rapid downsizing career going from mantas over falcons and sabres to the nitro 150 in something like 50 jumps. over here we have a somewhat laid back attitude regarding wing loading and canopy size. do i think it was clever to downsize that quickly? looking back i think, that a slower progress definitely has it's merrits especially if you have somebody actually teaching you how to fly a canopy (classes in canopy control are actually non-existant in my part of the world) i also have to admit, that I've never been into the swooping thing nor do i want to go that way, and that i've had my crashes where i was lucky not to harm myself (other than a few bruises) if i had to buy a new canopy today I'd upsize to a 150 and i think that pilots are great *jmo* The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
