I vaguely remember seeing a photo of a Hornet in "high alpha" configuration, taken from the door of a DC-3. But, I think it was an intentional formation. Pretty sure about the F-18, not sure about the DC-3. Could have been Twin Otter or something else. IIRC, the photo was published in either Parachutist or Skydiving Mag. Maybe late 1990s. May not have even been a skydiving related event.

Interesting take on it! The attempted coup and the resultant populist rejection allowed Erdogan to successfully stage a sort of "coup" on his own government (where his authority was somewhat limited), by seizing and consolidating even more authoritarian power. And he did it while on vacay! But here's what is really interesting -- In the past, a deposed leader would either be killed or go into hiding or exile not knowing if he really has enough support, whether from government or from the populace, to regain power. In those cases, the coup might well have been successful. Here, he tapped into social media and, within hours, was able to mobilize his supporters to actively repel the coup and see their successes in real time. He was then able to make his triumphant return to Istanbul. All in one day.

Seems to be over. That was quick! The "Republic" of Turkey may now resume its resolute, inexorable march toward the 7th Century.

That's generally just an excuse for not releasing damning footage. Seems you bought it. Yeah, if someone believes they are hiding something, nothing will convince them otherwise, even releasing the video. So WRT releasing the videos, damned if you do, damned if you don't. I don't disagree with releasing the videos. But do it after any potential criminal investigation or trial. That might even expose any "damning footage" or bad cop shenanigans that might have been suppressed by the police! Over here the cops involved still have civil rights to a fair and unbiased trial. We should at least go through the motions. No need for trial by public opinion or by pontificating politicians or clergy members. Plenty of time for a hanging afterwards. Oh wait! I've forgotten that it's not about justice. It's about "No justice, No peace". Read that any way you like.

Well, my point to your comment is whom does one trust more, the cops as a whole or the media? Turns out to be not so easy to answer. We've already seen intentionally biased or out-of-context reporting by the above-mentioned, award-winning, nationally "trusted" "journalists". I have yet to see a video that has been manipulated by the police for purposes of a cover-up. Not saying it hasn't happened. also - most folks who would see a given video, even in it's entirety, would probably not understand what was really going on or what was happening outside the field of view and would likely prejudicially formulate their own opinions, regardless of any "truth". ...with guidance from the press, of course.

First (and only) flag jump. Combined with an RW jump. Landed downwind and against traffic. Piss poor planning and failure to treat as a "special" jump requiring focused attention. Ended OK (except for the deserved ass-chewing).

Great story. Just don't be getting any ideas, ""There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes.." a C140 isn't all that fast. OK, I'm not a pilot, but (depending on her speed at that point) I wonder if flaps might have made things worse when she was "launched" back into the air by the hill. I'm imagining something like flaring a canopy too high and then dropping straight down. (maybe an invalid comparison?)

While watching a TV morning show interview with a Florida State Trooper, I was surprised to learn that you will be ticketed for impeding traffic if you do this in the left lane even if you are exceeding the speed limit. And, If you're speeding, you'll likely get a ticket for that too.

Now I wonder who that handsome dude was. He had to be an old fart to have a 10 year pack job and a Swift on top. That sounds just like my rig (...but I'm not handsome, and certainly not an old fart!)

On the plus side, the UK would no longer be on the hook for the £13 billion payment (2015) to the EU, so some of that money could be used to replace the £60 million that Cornwall now gets from the EU. According to these folks (I have no idea who they are), if the UK picked up all of the EU's payments to the UK, they would still come out £8.5 billion ahead. Obviously, looking at just that one point as a "closed system", so who really knows how this will play out in reality (jobs, trade deals, security, etc.)

Only a prediction ...today they will vote to remain in the Union. But when the EU inevitably (and possibly violently) fractures, sooner rather than later, they'll wish they'd bailed when they had the chance. Hope not.

I think he's referring to Anders Breivik. Breivik self-identifies as an Odinist (so his choice must be honored). But, he may be lying so Thor will let him use the toilet of the gods instead of having to use only the Christian facilities. Thor is kind of an asshole (not the good kind, either.)
