  3. Howard to you have that issue of Spotter Magazine that has the picture of the Walworth County Desp.?[
  4. Steve died flying a Lear Jet out of Denver. If I recall correctly it was overgross and lost an engine just after departrure. This had to be in the late 70's.maybe 1980. Steve was a great jumper and pilot.
  5. I remember as a young boy early 60's Land of Linclon Skydivers had a loft / training center in Chicago on Milwauukee Ave by Montrose. I grew up a half block from that loft. I used to watch them pack looking thru the window. Does anybody know who ran that operation in Chicago? I assume the DZ was Hebron.
  6. Leon did own the drop zone. It was a student mill in the 70's. It was called the Pig Farm. Most jumpers moved on to DZ's that focused on RW. East Troy, Rainbow, Hinkley and Chicago Hammond.
  7. Don't know. I would have to look it up.
  8. I was there and placed 9th in accuarcy. The top eight accuacy spots were taken by the Air Force Academy & West Point cadets
  9. JU 52 they were German designed made by the Germans and Spanish during WWII
  10. In the 70's when the piggyback containers were grommet and cones you could experince a cone lock once the ripcord was pulled. People would bang on the container to release the pressure. The Jesus string came into play to releive this issue. The string was routed to the top container of the reserve and the other end tied to the ripcord blast handel. When you pulled the ripcord and cleared the housing you would pull on the top flap. It worked well. The real fix was the inovation of moving to a loop closure vs the old cones.
  11. Starting jumping in 1972 and got my pilots license in 76. Currently I do mostly cross country type flying in a Bonanza. I have flown a lot of jumpers in the past
  12. Skyknights - East Troy, WI
  13. Roger & Carl made their first jumps in 1972. James Gang had disbanded as a team by the time Roger & Carl knew what they were doing. However Roger & Carl jumped with just about everybody that was in the photo
