  1. im pretty surprised they didnt have the idea to put the wind tunnel at one of the dropzones, that would get a hell of a lot of use i think at one of the larger ones. if you ask me, the location of the tunnel really makes it seem like its more orientated to the average joe than the skydiving community.

PS: im rather gla the venture finally has the funding together after all this time, i almost fell out of my chair when i got the email from simon!

  2. did my 2nd and third static line today
    im so tired its umberlevable.

im getting good feedback apart from 1 thing, my knees are coming a little out than they should be causing me to go into a slight de-arch.

ugh.... im gonna praccy the arch n stuff this week.. i guess it will all come in time

  3. i did my first static line jump today! yey. exactly 1 year since my tandem.

it was mad, i didnt push my hips out enough on exit apparently, but everything else went ok, the jump made me remember why i wanted to learn this sport in the first place. im off again to hibby next weekend possibly weather permitting for another jump :p

  4. i think teasons put it best really...

im new myself and asked the same questions last year when i first wanted to jump (i was 16 and i live in the UK wow!)

i got mixed responses also, to be honest it was a really difficult desision to make i had all these questions still floating around in my mind 'will i be able to remember to pull if i do aff' ' will i cope with everything at once' 'will i land it safely'

i really want to learn about the sport and get into it, at first i thought i was going to do AFF, i wanted in quickly. but then as i thought about it i decided that i'd probably be better going with static line because that way i get eased into the sport rather than having to do it all myself from the off.

i figured that by the time i finish the progression i will have more canopy time than the AFF guys, and having several canopy rides before my first proper freefall would be really beneficial because i wouldnt have to worry so much about that part of the jump.

so i did a tandem jump last year at Hibaldstow down south of hull. it rocked, however it made me realise that for me it would be really hard to remember both to arch and pull and steer a canopy on my first jump.

so i had it set in my mind now to do a static line course...

my first static jump is next weekend. i would of done it earlier but my a/s exams got in the way.

hope it helps, if it confuses you more then just holla!

  5. ok so you have found SpyBot Search and Destroy..
now get the following programs and you will rid ALL spyware viruses etc.

    SpyBot S&D (update it regulary)
    AdAware (update it regulary)
    HiJackThis
Mcafee Personal Firewall.. (by far the best i have seen)
    PopupKiller
Google ToolBar (the only toolbar i have seen that doesnt give u popups of its own)
2 Virus Scanners... Norton Antivirus (you have to pay :()
and the 2nd one is AVG, this is a great FREE program that usually picks up more than norton. however having both is good because 1 usually picks up what the other doesnt

I also have an updated version of the 'hosts' list. do a search if you are unclear about it.

another good thing about hyjack this, is that there are websites devoted to helping remove spyware / BHO's that use hyjack this as their way of helping. you simply scan, post, and then they help you (its worked so many times for me).

    i also have SpyWare Blaster
    and CWShredder

oh and then i have NTX, Magic NetTrace, and my port scanning skills to strike back at those little kiddys that think its fun to con your little sister into downloading a file that has a trojan. (those never get through now anyway tho coz of the above progs
    !)

Firefox (just browser) is MUCH better than IE. Blocks popups, etc.

For the spybot stuff - adaware and spybot search and destroy are both good , and free for the basic programs.

Hijack this is another program that can tell you just what is taking over your browser.

If you've got a file that's being accessed at startup so that you can't delete it, wholockme is your new best friend...

    Hope this helps

ugh... finally someone that actually knows the right programs to use to get rid of these things :p

i was just about to post those myself.

the other ones i have are popupkiller,
i have an updated 'hosts' list
my spybot has the resident protection enabled
    i have mcafee firewall.
i also have 2 virus scanners... norton, and AVG. i have to admit avg finds more than norton.

its best to run these scans once a month... make sure you stay offline when you scan, and possibly consider scanning from safe mode for best results...
run ALL the scans, let your virus scanner's go right the way through.

i had the same problem until a few weeks ago with various popups occuring when im not in any web browser, those were easily sorted by the programs...

infact i have only had 1 happen since. consider blacklisting IP's that you know are from bad websites.

hey i even started using the blocked website list because of my new hosts list i got... its surprising how blocking those sites tends to sort the problem

  7. your user accounts menu should work...

try logging on as the ADMINISTRATOR account (sometimes only accessable if you boot in safe mode)

then check on there... if it still doesnt work i'd definatly get out the virus scanners, the firewall, the Hyjack this program, the spyware removal (S&D, Adaware etc)

ooooooo God man froto gets hit by a car he is kinda small so you need to look really close to see him and the sound is fucked up so try to turn it up all the way.

video's ok, not the best ive seen there are sum more funny ones i quite like 'star wars kid'

if you havent heard of it its worth the google search!

  9. if your sure u want to enter the sport simply skip the tandem and go straight onto the AFF.. its usually the most expensive way to progess, but its easily the fastest, and well worth it if you want to get into the sport quickly. at a lot of places nowadays you can take a first aff jump course to give you a taster of aff course without the huge financial strain

  10. it really did annoy me watching it... i was so surprised that they didnt stick to some of the technicalities a little more... i understand that the hole thing had to fit with the plot.. but even so you would expect them to at least attempt to show skydiving in its real form

  11. i was watchin hollyoaks last night because i was promised some skydiving footage.. i watched, and was actually pretty disappointed.

now correct me if im wrong, but im sure that those guys that were supposed to be skydiving wouldnt bail out of their own in an emergancy especially if its their first jump?. i also noticed that they were all wearing the parachutes, and had no static lines. but the thing is that this would signify that they must have been doing a 1 jump aff thing, however there was about 8 of them i the 1 plane with only 1 instructor..

    anyone watch this program?

post sum reply's.. and as i said if im completely wrong hee about that not being very realistic then just correct me :p

  12. i agree with everyone else... airborne counts 3 fold.!

go aff, he knows how to fly a canopy. so all thats really left is the bit in between, with all the canopy knowledge he wont have to consentrate so much on landing, and may perform better at the freefall stages

Brain is so overwhelmed by everything else going on that a falling sensation is least important sensation to be generating.

even so... i still had a falling sensation for about .5 of a second. then all i felt was like i was floating.. strange because i didnt think that u go down towards the ground when floating

YEE i guess i might do another tandem:)

one of the only things i can remember from my tandem was my ears hurting like hell..... i had the jump video'd and one of the only things i say when i get on the ground is ' its great but my ears popped a bit(me rubbing my ears like a crazy person at this point)'
