  1. Bloody gorgeous! my first Xmas in the middle east (first away from UK actually) Doesn't feel like xmas really at all it's been weird, but very good - rather take the late summer holiday than cold xmas any day. All we need now is a DZ (Next weekend, inshallah..) Merry Xmas to you all!
  2. I finally got over there this weekend! It was awesome, great DZ - go there if you can I had so much fun Hoping to return in a few weeks. Send me a message or email if u want to hear more about it. Kat
  3. Actually I have it on my CV in the 'other interests' bit.. at my interview the boss was more interested in asking me about skydiving than my work skills! He had actually done one jump at the same DZ a very long time ago. (But then if they were a shining example of wise employers, we'd all still be there now eh )
  4. Hey I hope lots of employers agree with that, cos it's pretty much what I'm doing! Was laid off end of September, having fantastic time so far. Am going to travel as many places as funds allow, and do the 'gap year' cliches. Can't skydive for the first time as such.. but hopefully for the first time in a few new places. (Umm Al Quwain this weekend) (I'm sure the optimism will wear off when the money runs out and I have to look for a job though )
  5. First I thought no. 1! But then looking back at 'em I see why everyone says no. 2.. I agree a couple of lines might be good though. But then better not listen to me - I helped a guy design his tattoo once... a kind of swirly tribal thing. Then later that night a drunk guy propping up the bar saw it, and pointed out that it looked like an inverted Teletubby! Thing is, he was so right!!! (oddly, we're no longer friends )
  6. Hey there, does anyone know any more about this? I just bought a rig made in '92.. (and am rather attached to it already
  7. Hey Hummusx, i dunno if it's 'unreasonable' but that's what I, & a few others of similar exp. do... (looks like I got same no. jumps as you btw) Seems like some dzs that's cool & others it's a bit high - but as long as everyone knows that's what you're doing it'll be all good.. I kinda like to enjoy the view for a bit! (funny though, my 1st jump was from 2200 that didn't bother me )
  8. Fair point! But what yardhippie said.. it's disco Ministry for da kids (like me) :) Biohazard!
  9. Pantera! ..in fact all of the above.. except Slipknot, who truly suck donkey balls :ducks & hides: wow skydivers AND metallers! Where are you guys??
  10. Columbus Direct? I bought travel insurance from them for a jumping holiday in May - and then cancelled it immediately! Because on ringing back for further info on another point the guy said, "you do know that you're only covered for (insert very small number here - 2? I forget, sorry) skydives don't you?" Apparently this was a recent change in their policy that meant it was useless for anything but the odd jump! Maybe if you bought it for the year before then you are covered, but please check! Blue skies & hope you don't have to use the insurance
  11. I rode a camel once, it scared me a lot more than any skydive! They're not very friendly.. I'm looking for insurance myself; something that will cover medical expenses worldwide and also allow me to skydive - any recommendations? Slightly off the subject, but where can I find a list of countries the BPA's insurance covers us for?
  12. Thanks for the replies! katiebear21, when are you guys thinking of going over? I won't be there until probably November anyway. I know there are a couple of skydivers in Oman, will see if I can track 'em down ;)
  13. ahh thanks for the welcomes
  14. You forgot plane tickets (for the really big planes they don't like you jumping out of) ..for when ya get pissed off with that bloody unsporting british weather.. HOLIDAY!!
  15. Hey guys just thought I'd give you all a quick shout to say hi!
  16. Hey Steve! Nice one & good luck! Don't be put off by winter, good old british weather can be real frustrating but it's worth the wait! I was a RAPS student too, took a while but made it in the end
  17. Hey! Are there any skydivers from Oman here? I heard of one or two guys that go to Umm Al Quwain to jump; I'll be in Muscat from November (probably for a couple of months) and would love to hear from anyone in Oman who skydives & is up for trips to the UAE! Kat x
