  1. I think that Doug Stanhope sums it all up quite nicely, in that Sodomy is "Eco-Friendly" and Abortion is "Green" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgDhDa4HHo ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  3. Is the story of Adam and Eve a "fabrication" ??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  4. To be honest whether he died or not is largely irrelevant. The act of dying on the cross was to symbolise his suffering to free us from sin. (but did he suffer, being a god, and knowing that after he died he would rise from the dead, and the go home and hang out with Dad, probably not, but this is a whole different topic of conversation) Now the bigger issue is Sin. So according to the Christianity’s version of “original sin” we are all born with the hereditary stain of sin due to the belief that we are descendants of Adam, who committed the first sin by eating the fruit of the forbidden tree. Now God had said, 'you shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'" (Genesis 3:3) So, the original sin was disobedience, mistrust, and disloyalty against God. Now this is the fundamental underpinning of particularly the Christian dogma, as story is that Christ son of god came to earth and died to free us from this sin, so without Adam and Eve and the original sin, then the story of Christ is pointless and meaningless, and Christianity is nothing more than a fable… Oh dear………. So, God creates Adam and Eve, he creates them with knowledge of good or evil, right or wrong. He pits them in a Garden, and creates a tree whose fruit gives them the Knowledge of Good and Evil (probably through some god magic). God tells them not to eat the fruit or they will DIE… Now, as Adam and Eve don't have the faintest idea of right and wrong, they don't know it's a Bad Idea to disobey God .The only way they can gain this knowledge is by.... Eating from the Tree! To make matter worse, Adam and Eve were threatened with the punishment of death. How can this be any sort of threat? There was no death in The Garden - they had never witnessed it, and would probably have a hard time grasping the concept anyway. So, they were told not to do something (and had no way of knowing that disobedience was bad), otherwise something would happen to them (and they had no idea what that was, or whether it was a good or bad thing to happen anyway).. "We'll die? What does that mean? Maybe it's fun!" Now we know based on overwhelming empirical evidence that Adam and Eve were not the first humans, and that man had existed for many 1000s of years before them, So we have to ask the question what if (am most likely) that Adam and Eve never existed and the “Original Sin” never happened??? Kind of makes a mockery of the whole story and the crucifixion IMO ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  7. Im running a fairy new machine dual core 2.9ghz, with 4GB RAM (I wouldn’t have considered this slow) and Vegas Platinum Pro. Working with any other format is great, easy super smooth no problems. As soon as I try to work with native AVCHD whether straight of the card or from HDD (15K SATA) Vegas becomes (to me) un-usable. My CPU is maxed, memory is not problem, now this might be a issue with Vegas I don’t know, I haven’t tried any other software yet. So what spec setup do you consider is required for native editing ? Thx ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  8. Hi All. So I've recently made the migration from DV to AVCHD and was wondering what other people who are editing this format are doing. I have noticed that working with native AVCHD is painful, in that it is very CPU intensive and that whilst running a dual core 2.9Ghz chip it runs 100%. So scrolling through clips is jerky and slow, and preview play back is the same. I have done a bit of research and this seems to be the general consensus that working with native AVCHD is not the way to go. I came across a package called Cineform Neoscene Link which converts AVCHD to .avi whilst retaining most of the quality. The .avi is then a lot easier to work with in most Editing packages, and seems to solve the problem. Anyway I was wondering what other peoples experience or advice would be? Thanks Oli ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  11. Anyway this whole thread is moot as we all know that the ark could never have been build. Well that is my opinion, and mainly based on the following"facts" 1. The Wyoming schooner is currently the largest wooden ship ever built. It was built in the first decade of the twentieth century with modern shipbuilding methods. It was about the same length as the alleged Ark, but only two thirds of the width. This ship represented a tremendous feat of engineering, and posed several substantial construction problems. Most notably, it required large iron strapping for support, just to hold the boat together. Something that Noah would not have had "iron". Also it flexed so much that it required constant pumping to keep the water out whilst at sea, and utlimately sunk. 2. The QE2 for example took 1000s of people using a modern shipyard, machines and ship building knowledge 2 years to build, so how long would Noah and his 3 sons have taken to build the ark!!!! 3.Where did they build it, did Noah have a ship yard with a dry dock largest enough. Who built this? I could go one. I simple find it stagering the people will believe such outrages rubbish. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  12. reply] Those exalted, highly educated, people should be the first to grasp the extent of what is known and what is unknown. Closing the door on spirituality is as ignorant as those who close the door on science. False information can be found in both areas but the core truth of each still remains. ... The core truth is that still to this day there is not a single shred of evidence to suggest the that the concept of "spirituality" is anymore then that. So in my book the door is quite firmly closed on this subject. But I will consider opening it on the reciept of proof/evidence that spirits, ghost, goblins, tooth fairy exist. I wont hold my breath.... Science on the other hand, well its rather ingnorant to even consider it the same as "spirituality" ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  16. Maybe have you considered this; we are the ones that are “equipped” with the “facility” to perceive when something is bullshit. 17. However, to those in the substance abuse/chemical dependency/mental health profession, both professionals and client/patients, spirituality is an integral aspect of treatment. From my perspective, my spirit is very self evident to me. To RonD, the same is also probably true. Hence his desire for spiritual exploration, in his case through Christianity. In JackC's mind, things might be entirely different. Here's one possibility to consider: It may well be that some people do not have the same capacity as others for any sort of spiritual experience. Some people may lack any form of an "Inner Life". In short, if someone says "I have no soul." it may very well be true. The person could have an intellect that allows them to outwardly function as a human being, but might have little or no capacity for any sort of inner life or spirit or soul (call it what you will). To such a person, any sort of spiritual efforts would appear to them to be like chasing after pink unicorns. It would be completely and mind-bogglingly meaningless to them, since they don't have a soul to begin with. Since we are not inside each other's heads, we can never know for sure, until someone invents the Vulcan Mind Meld or something. It would explain why these arguments never go anywhere. To someone without the capacity for a soul, spirituality in pretty much any form would seem like so much bullshit. To someone who DOES have a soul, it seems so obvious that we have this inner existence, that we might naturally, but incorrectly, believe that all other people feel it as well. Here we have a classic example of how these woowoo beliefs perpetuate and continue to exist. What speedracer is doing is creating his own hypothesis which supports his own belief and definition of a “soul”. This then reinforces his belief based on nothing but his own imagination, and requires no evidence. Now to make the statement “without the capacity for a soul” we first have to identify what this “soul” is and show empirical evidence that this “soul” exists. Which I don’t think anyone has ever been able to do, so into the I think the “soul” can go into the same box as the Tooth Fairy, Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, Witches, Homeopathic remedies, fortune tellers and gods. Right where did I put that snake oil??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  22. I know you asked this of Maadmax but I must ask...What are you asking? I know I am not as enlightened as you which may explain why I have no idea what your question means. Seriously! Perhaps you could re-word it. Thanks. John Schellenberg wrote an interesting paper that if there were a God, then nonresistant nonbelief would not exist. But, he continues, the existence of nonresistant nonbelief is undeniable: There are individuals who do not believe in God for reasons having nothing to do with emotional or behavioral opposition towards God, towards relationship with God, or towards any of the apparent implications of such a relationship. For example, some former believers who would have loved to go on believing in God could not do so because a serious and honest examination of all the evidence available to them unexpectedly eroded away their belief. Additionally, throughout human history theistic belief has never been a live option for scores of human beings either entrenched in alternative religious traditions or lacking the basic conceptual conditions to even be able entertain the idea of an all-powerful, all-knowing, and perfectly good creator God separate from the physical universe. From this it follows that God does not exist. A perfectly loving God would ensure that meaningful contact with himself was always possible for those he loved, but just by looking around we can see that this state of affairs does not obtain. Weak theistic evidence, then, provides strong atheistic proof. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  23. You can’t have both im afraid. Sin is product of the Christian belief system. Originating from the story of the “Original Sin” which was caused by Adam and eve when they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge after explicitly being told not to by a snake. Now we know that Adam and Eve never existed so therefore could not have eaten anything, let alone forbidden fruit, So that pretty much means the whole concept of Sin is a farce.(and whole christian belief system, but that's another discussion) Second the Christian god is omnipotent and omnipresent therefore the concept of free will is a farce… Madmax I asked you this in another thread, but as useall you decided to ignore it and bury your head in the sand… anyway if anyone can answer this then please go for it.. How can the Christian god exist when “non-resistant non-belief “exists???????????? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  25. ok so im sticking with the 82sqft. Jims optimum loading for the ZP JVX is 2.4 - 2.5. so with the 82 I can put on 12KG of lead (which is what im used to competing with) and be at 2.45:1. And when im not competing I will be at exactly 2.0:1. Seems good to me... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
