  1. 4 wonderful things about the new management: -larger grass landing area -soft, thick, rubber packing matt -hop'n'pops from 4,500ft! -MANAGEMENT, this place has management now and it shows. Things are running smoother, and loads are turning quicker. With 2 super otters and 1 caravan, the loads are a flyin'. I feel like I can train now! Whether it's freefly training, swoop training, RW...this place is fast becoming a TRAINING DROP ZONE. Oh yeah! You can split your block tickets with anyone, so basically it is $16 per jump. If you have not been here yet, you truly do not know what you are missing. The new manager has only been there for 2 weeks now, but he is quickly moving forward with many great plans for the drop zone. The NEW manager truly sees the great potential of this drop zone, and now Skydive San Diego seems to be thriving with untied hands.
  2. Parabatix is the best DVD ever! It will be available in stores and on-line March 2006 for $30 bucks. Check out the trailer here: http://www.parabatix.org This DVD is so awesome. It has: Object Swooping Mountain Swooping Competition Swooping Freefly World Records RW world records Base and Wing Suit Base Paraglider Stunts VX crew and formation flying A great slide show The best wrecks section ever! The movie runs about 45 min. The slide show and commercials add another 15 min. But when it's over, you'll almost certainly go back and watch your favorite piece again. Wait for Parabatix. You won't regret it. I'm sure there is someone out there who has seen it. Hey anyone out there! What did you think about the new Parabatix DVD?
  3. bonehead da bomb (old style) for sure. you can find a used one out there, you just have to look. it is a clamshell style, and you do not need a chin cup. It is what i use and i love it. i'm a small girl. i hate chin cups. and the best thing of all is that you still get great STEADY footage without a chin cup! it took us 6 months to find mine...good luck! but it's worth it! also...it looks sexy as hell (low profile). no aggiedave i'm not sponsored...i just love my bonehead da bomb that much. it just feels that good.
  4. yep. i've seen this happen on mirage hard housings also. get yourself some infinity (vse) risers. infinity has the only risers that are tacked down and therefore they will not have this "slippidge" problem. while you're at it get an infinity rig to go with the risers. best rigs out there. NO aggiedave, i am not sponsored. i pay for my gear. i just love it that much. i just feel that safe in my infinity. (hey kelly, can i have a rig?)
  5. At the same time, though, I think it's kind of disturbing that there are some who feel this way about us as skydivers. Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't skydive without a consideration of death. *** i agree... sister, let me know when you start skydiving girl,(5-8 years from now?) so i can talk you out of buying the high performance canopy you're going to want at 223 jumps. passion and determination is a good thing, but unfortunately in this sport it can easily turn against you and KILL. nice writing skills though, i've had a dirty mouth since i was a kid, and i got by ok. people always used to tell me "that's not how a lady talks/acts". my standard reply was ,"who the hell ever accused me of being a lady?!" stay strong girl! don't let them get you down. there are plenty of other girls out there that don't believe in the whole "having kids completes your life" idea (inclulding me). afterall who wants to be a baby sitter the rest of their life? there are plenty of other people out there that will have the kids and the families. leave it up to them. you go girl! you be hard core athletic chick. we need more of us!!!
  6. hey how 'bout this? instead of finding a way to mark sponsored jumpers (people that actually help the sport) let's find a way to mark people that are on canopies that are too much for them and find a way to say ,"No, actually you ARE NOT jumping that here." now that would be worth a little effort...
  7. A. #1 First Off Most Important Factor: YOU ONLY HAVE 280 JUMPS. You should not fly an ellipticale yet. Get more experience. Wait til you have 500 jumps at least! And you should be current. Crossfire2's are the MOST HIGH PERFORMANCE elliptical. Crossfire2's are the most high performance canopy before going to crossbraced. You don't want to mess with that power with only 280 jumps. Don't do it! It is not worth the risk!!! And even if you could land it safelty 100 times. What about the malfuntions? When a crossfire2 has line twists, because it IS elliptical it will burn up altitude like you wouldn't believe!!! Sometimes in-experienced people don't even realize the alitude they are burning and ride that shit into the ground. It aint' worth it. STAY ALIVE. STAY ALIVE!!! Yours Truly, Drunk and Inspired and sick of losing people...
  8. Thanks for clarifying that Icarus WAS NOT lying about the wind tunnel testing. People are so quick to point fingers and put blame and call people liars when they don't even know the TRUE FACTS! To think this forum started out with a question about those things on top of the Nitrons, and then turned into calling Icarus a liar. Do the moderators moderate stuff like this, or do they feel good and smile when it is hear say shit being talked about Icarus?......Come on now! Something doesn't seem right... Someone else that just had a hard Sabre opening was concerned about this when they tried to share their experience and get someone info they were locked out and told to "Search Previous Posts" Check out their comments on this Dead Horse Post. "Dead Horse Forum"
  9. I totally understand. It is like how when Ford cars first came out they were the best, most dependable, all round car made in America, so everyone bought them. But now-a-days other car companies have surpassed Ford in technology and safety, but Ford continues to sell based on their name and the fact that they're made in good 'ol America. Are Fords now the best cars on the market?...well I'm sure Ford owners believe so....... P.S. I own a Toyota
  10. Holy crap! Are you serious? Your BASE rig? Your BASE rig should be in perfect condition, as this is the only way to survive each jump. You only get 1 chance with BASE jumping. A ground launch rig/harness is always on the ground, rubbing in dirt, getting UV damage. I don't understand why you would be treating your BASE rig like this? Would you take the reserve out of your sport rig and kite it around for a day, letting it hit the ground over and over, and then pack it into your skydiving rig as your last chance of survival? I wouldn't.
  11. Hi CanuckInUSA, I'm just curious...do you think you will persue ground launching on your own and go out and find some hills in your hometown to launch. Or was it a one time excursion?
  12. i'm pretty sure all canopies kill people... i'm just really really glad i DO NOT jump a canopy that could break my femur, hip, pelvis, back, neck, etc. just on a normal (not malfunction) opening sequence?!?!!! NO THANKS! -diana
  13. i'm still so amazed that people have so much loyalty in a company that they continue to jump something that hurts them
  14. ..."hold my beer watch this!"... that doesn't sound very smart...do you guys freequent the WFFC a lot?
  15. If you are asking about the Safire1, it is completly different from the Safire2. I learned to swoop the shit out of my Safire2 109 (I received lots of canopy coaching). Super soft openings and lots of flare power. Sometimes I popped myself up TOO high, and in very light winds. Diana
