I do not think this or any other " Forum" on DZ.com is the means of finding out about the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps IF you are interested, you could seek another more valid way, but I sense that you aren't really interested because you would have to change your lifestyle to search with honesty. When I was training the Special Forces in Ecuador, we all boarded the aircraft, and took off. Then one of the soldiers realized he had forgotten his reserve and his helmet. I quickly took mine off and give them to him, and he was astounded, that I would miss a jump all because of his careless thinking. I was almost going to jump without both the reserve and tghe helmet, but since I was there to train them in safe parachuting, I thought I would not be setting a good example, so I went down with the aircraft. If it hadn't been a situation where someone would have thought badly of my unsafe? training, I certainly woulld have followed them out just to see the look on their faces. Bill Cole D-41

You should be worried more about being in a motor vehicle, and not knowing if the brakes will slow you down. Your parachute is made to open, and if it doesnt, that is why we have a reserve chure. You are likely to get grey hairs all over your head from worrying about what amounts to a simple waste of time. If you don't break the tether that keeps you bound to earth, you will never really know in your heart just what a great thrill and a safe thrill, you are rejecting for a folish though that your chute isnt going to open. Don't let some people persuade you not to jump. Its the greatest thrill available to mankind on the face of this planet. It would be a terrible shame if you let it slip by you, and you never get to experience that thrill...it simply cannot be put into words. I feel sorry for those who are tethered to the ground, and never spend some time flying their body through space. Go for it, and dont worry about your questions. I have seen people in wheelchairs jump, and they couldn't walk on ground, but they sure liked the thrill they experienced. GO FOR IT, and dont let others talk you out of it.. I had not seen this thread until last week, and although my name is mentioned, I am not sure I really qualify. Many things I did were in a challenge to a dare, Maybe I should be on the stupidest skydiver thread, eh ?? It is almost impossible for me to not accept a dare. Its a challenge and I won't back down. Almost cost me my life on more than a few occassions.

I think Felix's jump was absolutely amazing, and I am very glad that he encountered no serious problems. My heart jumped a beat or two whe Isaw him spinning, but he managed to correct that nicely. I was certainly there encouraging him on in spirit, and although I wish I could have been there in real time, I congratulate him for his great jump. Perhaps someone should put him on the " Bold Skydiver " list. He has earned it. I watched the counter as it ticked off the seconds,and he activated his chute at exactly 4 minutes and 17 seconds, but including his opening, one could say he got a total of 4 minutes and 20 seconds of freefall. Considering the cost and the work he and his team put into that jump, I was quite amazed to find out his freefall time was only 1 minute and 48 seconds longer than my Canadian record. On my jump from 36,916 ft, I got 2 minutes and 29 seconds, but if I included the opening time of 3 seconds, I got a total of 2 minutes and 32 seconds. Incidentally, I likely did mention that the USA would be taken over by others. I know which nations that will be, but think it better that you find out when it takes place. I will tell you this, there are four nations that will replace the USA administartion, and to whom and to whom its population will be submissive to. Perhaps I misread that it would be in Bush's term of office. However, there is certainly enough evidence that the USA is declining. The nation as a whole is void of decency, it has a kill mentality with their gun craziness, and they are going down the tube as we speak. Little by little, and likely to end with a big bang, the USA is a doomed nation. However, many don't have the intelligence or wisdom to see it is taking place now.

I hope you are able to make it back into the blue. About 3 months ago, I weighed myself while waiting for the doctor to come into his little room, and I hit 215 pounds. I was shocked, and deceided I had to do something about it. I changed my diet, and the next month, I was at 208 pounds, Last week I again go weighed, and I am now at 202 pounds, and feeling much better. I want to drop another 15 pounds, and end up at about 185, which is good enough for my 6 ft 1 inch height. I plan on a few more jumps, but I turn 80 yrs old on Oct 31st, and I am not sure how long I will continue to jump. Much depends on my daughter getting the ability to fly stable for 60 seconds. I have measured the speeds in freefall, and after 12 seconds, I was clocking 150 MPH, and then went into a high speed dive, and clocked 222 MPH. I then returned to my spread eagle ( as you call it) position and once again returned to exactly 150 MPH. I used a sensitive altimeter, an air speed indicator, and a stopwatch. I had a directional pitot tube on the side of my helmet, and its open end was pointed ahead of me no matter what position I was in, and the tube from that pitot tube was enclosed in a metal ripcord housing, so as not to get it pinched as I changed body positions. I believe that a skydiver falls at 150 MPH...NOT 120 MPH. The entire jump was captured on 16mm film with a camera mounted on a 1/4 inch thick piece of aluminum across the belly mount reserve.
