  17. Thanks Matt!! You bet, seeing this video makes me smile as I don't get to see half of the good things that happen in our event. Glad you guys had fun. It's always a pleasure having the EPIC team.
  18. Hi Scott, this is Viviana, one of the organizers's for the PR boogie also a provider for Rook Nelson's Winter money maker and you are one of his employee's and you want to put our event down because we took the necessary precautions with the novice? I understand everyone can HAVE opions and you have made yours very clear. Obviously your "new Skydiving Girlfriend" (as you stated you came last year) with 68 jumps was not qualified to do beach jumps based on our ocean and the wind conditions on the boogie dates. Forget what the USPA says and other Beach Boogie events....Being the DZ Manager, a Girlfriend of a DZO and a low jumper at one point; he made the decisions for me but his jumping didn't conflict/prevent him from jumping. All organizers, with more experience than you made decisions based on the water condition coming into the landing area and wind conditions. The ocean at this beach is very rough and decistions were made constantly. If you had yours, you should have come to the manifest table. You talk about the Goody bag which was never promised but seemed this was so important to you! You forget to mention ALL the positive things about our event, HAVING free beer nightly, a Free Rums of PR party on friday night; and a Saturday beach party w/ catering, free beer and shots. All this included on our registratoin of $55.00. I wonder if you really appreciate like MOST people do, retruning and thanking us regardless if we make money on this event or not... Thank you for coming for the second time, we are a very well organized Company that has gone through some political changes...and we hope to do better every year as an aspect of the event. I will never leave the organization part for the last minute as you have mentioned! Blue Skies Viviana De Jesus [email protected]
  19. FYI: A more complete set of directions to all activities/places close by will be up on the Boogie section of our website by this weekend. We will have a few copies at the dz as well. Here is what we have up now. http://www.xtremedivers.com/vegabaja.shtml
  20. Hi. I am working with the Embassy Suits to get a discounted rate lower than $155 so as soon as I get it (tomorrow) I will post more information. Fpr more areas, goggle towns of Dorado, Vega Baja and Manati. These are close by to the DZ. We are working on posting the directions soon. The welcoming party is being moved to Dorado (next town of Vega Baja at the Corozo Sports Bar and Grill. Additionally, we would like to know how many people are interesting camping at the dz. We need to build some showers and would like to leave enough space for camping or not so much if not many people are thinking on doing it. Please send me an email if you are seriously considering in camping at the dz at [email protected] Thank you for your continual support!
  21. Here is the new location: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=18.464016,-66.365700+(Vega+Baja+Strip+XD)&ie=UTF8&ll=18.462432,-66.319141&spn=0.083367,0.208569&z=13 Also a local jumper got this new location closeby: call 787-278-7888 and speak to Rodriguez and make sure you say you are attending the skydiving event. Thank you.
  22. This location is for the Puerto Rico Freefall Festival 2010. We are still going to contract with Port Authority at the airport. I have called a few hotels in the area and they are either booked because of San Valentine's Day or their rates are a bit higher and they don't have all days available. However, this area (Vega Baja) has many house/apartment for rent. Here are some numbers in the area: Dorado Beach : 787-796-1234 Aquarius 787-626-0700 More information Soon. Thank you
  23. We want to start out thanking everyone who's supported and attended this boogie throughout the years, spreading the word, and making it what it is. This years boogie promises to deliver everything you've heard about and experienced and more. There's some rumors and changes to the boogie that will now be addressed. Due to govermental changes, lack of support from the same government, port authority abuses in contracting and dealing with skydiving - the venue has changed location. We have been displaced and battling for access at our airport for the last 6 months, after having had access for the last 5 years, the way many boogie goers and regulars have come to know. This battle came to a head a month ago, where the issue became cancel the boogie, or move it... For more than the obvious reasons, canceling was out of the question!!! We refuse to lose the momentum of this boogie (366 jumpers last year), and let down all the folks on their way here. The boogie will be in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on a private airstrip. The strip is 25 to 30 minutes east ( closer to SJ) of the old location (Arecibo), on hwy 22, exit #32. Its named Cuylers, after the owner. We realize the inconvenience for a number of folks with reservations at area hotels, and tried to balance it against the inconvenience of not having the boogie. We again apologize for the inconvenience, and can only promise to deliver what devotees and new attendees have come to expect from this boogie and heard about. With the heavy port authority yoke off the boogie, and our own place to cut loose, this boogie promises to be like none before!!! On-site after hours drinking and parties, bonfires, on-site camping, all a reality now. The boogie rocked without it, how about now?! We now have 3 beach landing areas, with a natural swoop cove 200' across and bordered by sand. For the lesser experienced, we have a 1 1/2 mile long beach that runs paralell to the wind. Stay tuned for google earth coordinates to all 3 loacations and see what it's all about!!! This boogie had a 3 pronged salvation that consisted of a generous man with an awesome 3,800' grass strip, the local FAA FSDO and local ATC management, and their coordinated efforts to make this happen. Thank you, Jason Gonzalez, DZO ([email protected]) Viviana De Jesus, DZ Manager ([email protected])
