  1. Starting on: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Skydiving_Videos_and_Books/Videos/index.shtml I clicked on the next page button and got a Page not found on: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Skydiving_Videos_and_Books/Videos/more2.html
  2. If you look at the stats from the USPA at http://www.uspa.org/Portals/0/MembershipSurveys/memsurvey10.pdf, they've got the age breakdown of their membership (most American skidivers). Age 16–30 ........................................... 24% 31–39 ........................................... 29% 40–49 ........................................... 23% 50–59 ........................................... 16% 60+ .................................................. 8% As you can see less than 1/4 of skydivers are under the age of 30. I myself am just getting back into the sport at the age of 32. I wouldn't let age be any kind of blocker for you.
  3. I didn't see this functionality anywhere that I could find but it would be great to have an rss feed of the classifieds. I use Google Reader to aggregate lots of different sites contents and having an rss feed would let me quickly see any new items posted.
  4. My favorite was from my second jump after AFF which was jump number 9: 2 Out! Pulled Main at 4,500' Both Main & Reserve came out. Main shifted over in front of Reserve into a Biplane. Steered and landed with Main rear risers. No flare. I kept my cool and made it down safely!
  5. I checked my policy I have through work and the Accidental death policy does exclude skydiving. I've got both Life and Accidental Death and the Life insurance doesn't exclude skydiving but the Accidental does. At the bottom of the exclusions list is: Now that I see this I need to shop around for a larger life insurance policy.
  6. I try not to wash mine. It's bad luck. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  7. I don't think that the basic landing pattern needs to be changed. I think it is still the safest way for beginners (myself included) to come in for landing. What is needed is seperate landing areas for high performance landings and standard landings. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  8. I just got a Silhouette 230 myself. I'm a little heavier than you are and only have 30 jumps. I've put 6 jumps on the Silhouette (I haven't had it too long) I like the Silhouette a lot. It flies and lands very well. Only the top skin is ZP so it packs fairly easy. The ease of packing is what initially got me interested. It has the flight and long life of a ZP canopy with the packing ease of an F111. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  9. I looked at Gecko's website and it looks interesting. I emailed them, however, and they don't export to the US. He said something about Copyright infringment. So, I guess I won't be getting one any time soon. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  10. I'm pretty sure that the CASA boogie at Skydive Monroe is on the Sept 21-22 weekend. That's what manifest told me last weekend. I'll have to check next time I'm out there (probably Wednesday). And, you can check out the website at www.skydivemonroe.com. It was designed by our very own Cyberskydiver and has a countdown till the boogie in days. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  11. Wow, this is a shock. Andy was a great guy and will be greatly missed. I wish I had had the chance to get to know him better than I did. Blue Skies Andy. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  12. I just bought a new used rig (BEER!) and haven't jumped it yet. I got a MirageG3 with a Silhouette 230. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't roll the nose when packing a Silhouette. Anyone jumped one or have one that can share. Anything special about the packjob? Woohoo! I can't wait to jump my first rig. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.

Glad you're back. I'll see you this weekend out at the dz. It's been almost a month since my last skydive and I'm going into withdrawal. (Summer classes suck!) Also, my new/first rig should be put together tomorrow so I'm going to jump it Saturday. I can't wait to get back in the sky and finally wearing my own rig. (and yes I know. BEER!!) Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
  14. I loved her quote. "Mummy, I want to fly again" I'm sure we all can relate to that feeling. I know I can. Wesley -- I'll see you at 13,5 amongst the clouds.
