Not true. 300' is too short to make an urban skydive from. He must have jumped from a plane or heli.

This is really not my business except that I have interest in the state of our local objects, and that good people just got the shaft when they shouldn't have. From what I've heard it seems like the large groups earlier in the year left quite a trace and that the trace they left angered the rangers and motivated them to start making arrests. It's a shame when a few idiots stuck in the moment ruin the good things enjoyed by the rest... and in this case it seems that the more responsible jumpers walked into a mess left by the previous jumpers. I'm not yet warming the tar, but it certainly sounds like we should all at least have a good long talk about this! Any members from the group before the busts care to tell your side of the story?

Ooops, I missed that you said May, the marathon is the same week but in March! Sorry for confusion...
-
Better get your room soon - the marathon has booked out many of the hotels.

Oh my gosh, this is terrible news! Matt is wanted here on earth! Hang in there Matt, we're all inspired by your fresh outlook and waiting to go rope jumping with you someday! I am spending some time today praying for you working my connections on “the other side” – hopefully we can help! Don't beat yourself up over the accident, we're all just happy you're alive and we will certainly learn from what ever happened. C-ya soon after your speedy recovery, sum1 Pope: Tell him I'm there too in spirit - and not to give up - there's too much still to live. -
It should be noted that public input regarding the changes to the National Parks Management Policy ends tomorrow night: So PLEASE make your comments, hopefully with tact and in a reasonable, educated sounding manner, before tomorrow night's deadline. Make your comments at the website Tom linked: Planning, Environment and Public Comment (aka PEPC - the gov always loves acronyms eh, hey maybe that gives us some advantage!) I wrote Senator Ken Salazar about this issue and he actually replied to my letter. In the letter he referred me to the same web link inside a pretty detailed and customized personal letter. It's never useless to stand up for our minority interests, but it's foolish to let discouragement keep us quiet.

I too would appreciate any scoop on this object - headed there in March. Thanks for the PMs!

deep thought: a counter-clockwise twist filmed from below is a clockwise twist if filmed from above, isn't that interesting! Further - when you start a flipping twisty, assume you start by twisting to the left facing out (counter-clockwise right)... once your head is below your feet you are spining clockwise as seen from where you exited! also: I wonder if the hemisphere you call home makes a difference, IE, more Aussies twisting counter-clockwise (as seen from above)...

Take each and every one and then don't ever quit learning from everything else that happens out in the world of BASE! edit to add: If you're about to say you can't afford each and every FJC you just need to sell more of your plasma!

okay, apologies for my confusion and the needless banter

I think you'll be fine so long as you wear the helmet and knee pads you "borrowed" from me over a year ago!

Cold towers are easily climbed with Atlas Therma Fit Insulated Gripper Gloves. Cheap, grippy, warm, and small for jumping down in your pocket. I always jump without gloves, but that's personal preference.

Did anyone ever complete a BASE specific logbook program?
