  1. You might try these guys for plugs, cables and parts http://www.vetcosurplus.com/ I've purchased from them and have had no complaints.
  2. Classic bait & switch or "do yoy want to purchase the US warranty with that"? "No, the charger and battery do not come with it they are sold seperately" "this is a non-US model", etc., etc. Stay away from them. I have had good results with Buydig.com and found them to be one of the lowest cost legitimate places on the internet to purchase from. Pat
  3. On the Conceptus switches if you have a stereo mini plug you can use a stereo to mono adapter and get continuous focusing on the XT's. Or try this. Make an intermediate cable that has a stereo female at one end and mono plug at the other, connecting the two wires together at the camera end. I have this intermediate cable installed through my helmet in such a way that it's a cinch to swap out a broken tongue switch even in the airplane. I always keep a spare in my jumpsuit pocket!
  4. That's exactly what we do at our DZ Lazlo, sit down, drink a beer or 2 and pre-record our promos when the weather blows or when it's slow (without the beer of course). It works out really well, you can even label the chapter title if you want. By the way one of my greatest pet-peeves is that you can't save some pre-made chapter titles, or plug a kyboard in these things. With all the useless crap they pack in you think they would have added that feature? Pat
  5. Thanks for the feedback DSE, it seems to me then that the real significant advantage to the 7 is the microphone input. I was really pissed at myself for missing that on the HC-42, I really want to start playing with a wireless mic on Tandems and maybe even some AFF. Pat
  6. This will not work if you are using a standard linear video DVD recorder like a Sony SLVD series or RDR series. Pat
  7. It's a great lens, I've been really pleased with it and highly recomend it! Pat
  8. Cool, what about a LANC port? Is there an external mic input?
  9. They don't appear to have one for the XT's? If I'm wrong would someone let me know where to find one for an XT? Thanks, Pat
  10. The Sony .6 is pretty decent and will still let you zoom through it. The single element wide angle lens's like the Royal Stealth .5 is a great lens but will not let you do that. Pat
  11. Can you post a couple of pictures when you get ac chance?
  12. I've had good luck with & recoemend buydig.com and butterfly photo, B&H has been around forever, you can't go wrong with either of the 3 of those.
  13. Lonnie, I've had success with high speed sync on and set it for - 1/3 stop. Normally I'm shooting shutter priority at 1/500th of a second.
  14. Nice, I have a quick question regarding your horizonatal stills with flash setup. What are you using for a flash bracket? I really can't see anything in your pics except the flash attached to the remote sycn cord. Is that just being held on by the 1/4-20 thread?
  15. Here's a unique exit expression...................
  16. I 2nd the Canon 10-22mm it's great lens and it's not too heavy. I had the Sigma 15mm also and it was too distorted or fisheye "like" for my taste. Pat
  17. I have about a 100 jumps on the Canon 10-22mm, it's been working out great. No problems so far.
  18. If the heads were clogged when you recorded the video the lines will always be there. I would suggest that you clean your heads at every tape change or at least every other one with a dry tape cleaning system like the Sony cleaning tape. If they wer e really clogged you may have to clean them a couple of times. I also recomend that you always use the same brand of tape and stick to 30 minute or 60 minute tapes. Personally I like Sony.
  19. Maybe I'm just a dumb ass but all I see when I follow your link is the review & commnet page, links take me to a products page and when I click on hte video link I don't see any change to the page? Where does one register? Do I need to set up an account? Pat
  20. You can get the panels without the HUGE housing and the cool part is they don't require much power. I was thinking I'd just strap them to my chest or better yet find a volunteer to fly some in addition to a 2nd flash
  21. Very cool & weird at the same time, kind of reminds me of the Northern Lights only it's coming from the West at sunset
  22. No, but I was thinking about using some IR iluminaors for larger RW night jumps. Just google them and you'll find quite a bit. Here's a super lagre one on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/IR-Infrared-140-LED-illuminator-light-for-Night-Vision_W0QQitemZ9744300304QQihZ008QQcategoryZ48637QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and another link to several different offferings from one particular vendor http://www.digitalssinc.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=45&zenid=1a309ad47d12eba88313c448852d9f95
  23. Check this out for some ideas, I used the Bonehead wide plate, nothing overhangs the plate. I still have to work on the flash bracket and make it all look pretty but it's functional and very well balanced.
