  1. I hate to do that. In my ex-socialist (now capitalist), developing little country the Civil Aviation Authority requires skydivers to pass a medical test (the same test as for Private Pilot Licence) . Don't ask why. AND They have a nice test, they put you in a chair-like deivice, you lean forward they spin the chair, stop it and you have to take an upright position (in the chair), but you fail if you swing left or right a lot . SO I know this little game. OVER
  2. If you want region and macrovision free dvd buy a dvd for your computer buy a Real Magic Hollywod Plus card (this card will allow to play dvds in superb quality even with a Pentium I, and have S-Vhs out, Digital sound out (inc. Ac-3 digital decoding), Analog sound out. From www.hplus.hu you download a program called ZoneSelector and you can disable Macrovision and region codes) I just bought this card (4 days ago) connected to my Tv and the quality is superb. It can also play (and output to a TV) Mpegs, Video-CDs, with a program called DivxPlus even Divx Avis. I bought it for 15000 HUF that ~50 USD, the DVD was 12000Huf ~40USD. So out of 90USD I have a Region Free, Macrovision Free, Dolby Digital DVD player. OVER

    I'm famous!!

Congratulations! When there will be an article post it I hate swimming, when I was younger my evil/cruel/barbarian parents forced me to swim and play water polo for years (5 times a week). After those years I do not want to swim in a swimming pool again. OVER
  4. Poor Americans! You have DZs we have SKYDIVING CLUBS meaning free beer every tuesdays night with same good old jumping friends. And still we can go to any DZs we want! OVER
  5. ESP+Las Vegas+Casinos=Jumps OVER
  6. Sorry I can't help you my girlfriend left me after 2.5 years maybe I did not impress her. Oh when did it happen? Lets see my logbook Jump number: 19 Date: 2002.06.08 Place: Matkopuszta Altitude: 1000m Freefall: 7 seconds Airplane: UTVA-66 Parachute: ZF-2 OVER
  7. No that is not funny this is funny OVER advent.doc
  8. So you log tandem jumps the same way as normal jump. We have more strict rules over here, what can you log, who can sign it, who can stamp it etc. etc. Interesting. OVER
  9. I GOT YOU! "If you exit a plane" the TM exits the plan the load is just connected to it. O.K. maybe a S/L is less experience and only a canopy ride, but it is done on your own. As I mentioned I experienced both and my FIRST jump (S/L) was a much, much bigger exprience than the tandem. BTW in this AFP program the tandem jumps are logged in the students logbook as jumps? Technically it is easier not to let somebody "go away" from your dz/skydiving club after a S/L jump than to catch a ex-tandem passanger, even if he liked it very much. Maybe in the US it is not a problem but here the tandem cost same as the S/L so some people would skydive but can not afford both. So after an S/L they can jump only for the gear+ride up money. "After over 1000 JUMPS I still consider the people that come to the DZ and do 1 tandem, one of us! " I do not even consider myself as a real skydiver with 49 jumps, looking at my average jump per year. I am only a "good start" maybe in some years... OVER
  10. My only concern when one tandem jump whuffos call themselves skydivers. Tnadem is not a skydive for the load. OVER
  11. Michael Jackson without a full-face mask? OVER
  12. I was 23 when I started. Why does many of you say that started skydiving with a tandem jump? You consider tandem jump as a skydive? Yes for the TM it is, but for the ballast? Than I can say I am a pilot because when I was 6 an airline pilot let me in into the cocpit. Once somebody did a tandem jump with me, but even that time -BEFORE I started jumping- I was polite enough not to refer it as a jump. IMHO tandem is a good way of demonstrating the sport for those scared, old, medically not fit people who would never jump or can not jump alone. OVER
  13. Opera is the best for 11 megabytes you get better performance than Netscape or IE. And only like 0.5% of the webpages do not like Opera. And it is free, although I do not usually (never) pay for softwares I leave that to the rich, capitalist Americans. Little Billy Gates will never see even a cent from me. OVER
  14. I am not an expert, but I think it depends where is your dz. If it is in the middle of nowhere (countryside), than the lights you see are the lights of the runway, hangar etc. in this case it is easy to find the dz. As I wrote our problem was that the dz was at a city so anywhere I looked I saw lights, of course it was beautifull. It is usefull to check the dz or the place where you want to land from the plane many times during the ride up. Even better if somebody takes a day and a night picture of the dz from a plane an than you can compare those before jumping. OVER
  15. Congratulations, I had my first night jump on 23rd of November. Why didn't you brought a little torch/Maglite with you? I illuminated my altimeter with a bicycle flash and I had a little torch with me, although I never used it. The chute opened, mainly that is enough information for round chutes. Could you identify the dz? We jumped at an airport next to a medium size (European dimensions) city and were looking out of the windows from the plan everybody was keep telling: that is the runway, wait no THAT is it, no wait... :-). I could find it. OVER
  16. Here in Hungary the legal age to start jumping is "have to be in the 16th year" meaning 15 years and 1 day olds can jump. OVER
  17. Somewhere I had some mp3s of her. I will try to find them. OVER
  18. Check their page maybe they can help you out where to jump in Egypt. http://www.idf.il/english/organization/paratroopers/paratroopers.stm OVER
  19. I will have a radio for sure, but I have to learn everything. Anything can go wrong with the radio. When the begginers start to jump (round static-line) I feel that they do not pay attention to controll the canopy themselves because they have the radio. This gives them false confidence. When I started to jump 3 years ago, my instructor was really keen on controlls and I had to reach at least the runway without the radio. Although with round chutes (even with steerables) much is depending on the jumpmaster. Oh, check out the pic of the night jump (I am in the green overalls) we scared the whuffos a bit. OVER
  20. I do not what is the size, sure I've heard it but can't remember. I hope this week we can finish the exams and jump in the weekend. I think I will have a radio, but it is not essential for me I have to learn to controll the canopy by myself. OVER
  21. There is a guy called Gyorgy Meszarovics who has more than 12000 jumps. OVER
  22. I did it! Unfortunately I did not bring the camera with me. I had the camera, but I did not buy the film for it. My friend had a digital camera but, we did not want to take it up as after we jumped the plane landed and flew again with some passengers so we could not secure the camera. The jump was perfect. Although during the ride up everybody was asking "Where is the airport? That is the airport?" The airport/dz is at the outskirts of a city called Szeged. The view was fantastic I could see all the lights of the city, its a small city (pop 200,000) but it was unbelievable. The city is 10km north from the Yugoslavian border, we saw Yugoslavia, everybody made some jokes what if we land in Yugoslavia. I wish I had a camera with me when my instructor told the jumpmaster that my friend and me are jumping with round-chutes. The guy was shocked. Exit was at 2500m, I was open at 750m, the wind was a bit strong. Only one guy from the first load missed the airport (1.5km x 1.5km). BTW how can anybody miss a DZ/Airport with a ram-air chute if I can make it with a round which is 3 times slower? AND Maybe next weekend I can finnaly jump with a ram-air chute. I did the "test" which was an instable exit, back-loop, 360 left turn, 360 right turn (well the back-loop was not reallly good). But I am really scared I liked rounds because you could do everything with them open anyhow no worries. The rig what I will jump has a Raider main? Is it true that it is not really a student canopy? I will post some pictures we made at the DZ OVER
