  1. Yes, we usually use An-2s becausemMost of the airports/dzs have tehm in Hungary. Sometimes we use UTVA-66. C-206 or PZL-101 or 102 are available although I have not jumped from them yet. In the pic there is An-2 HA-MBC the plane we jumped from last weekend. OVER
  2. Yes there was BEER and the more painfull local custom: a little beating. We have this terrible custom, besides bringing beer to the skydiving club: after the first jump or the first freefall jump or the first square jump or the 100th jump or etc. Anyone who has done the thing you done can beat your ass, but if you bring beer or pancakes (if you are a girl), they do not hit that hard. But, we had a good party lots of beer, cakes fun. As an example see attached pic. OVER
  3. I had no problem with the rounds jumps for sure they count. At least they are safer and you can freefall a bit more . Now I just have to learn some landing accuracy. The training what I had was good but in the reality it is a bit more complicated. OVER
  4. After waiting for 4 month -the whole bloody winter season-, finally after many-many-many round jumps (49) and exams last Saturday I had my first ram-air jump(s). As a beginning jump for the season I did another round jump, than I had 5 square jumps (Saturday and Sunday). The whole weekend was awesome. Saturday -the first jump in the year, the last round- the weather was not the best very strong winds (6-8 m/s) and clouds. We planned to jump from 2000m but after the first group exited from 1000m and we reached 1800m we were in full clouds. At around 2300m we exited the cloud and I saw what I was waiting for since my last jump in 2002: crystal clear blues sky, snow white clouds beneath. After circling for 20 minutes looking for some "holes" in the cloud we jumped from 2600m. It was good, I was not that stable but at least belly to earth. My next jump was the first ram-air. I was a bit nervous, interestingly I thought I would be much more nervous. Me and my friend -also his first ram-air jump- jumped from 2000m to open after 10-15 sec . Yes it is high, but for the first jump it is good to have some altitude to play with the canopy. Oh, the canopy although it is a Raider -which is I think 220 sqf. that's considered big and slow- compared to rounds it is sooo fast. I can fly anywhere and I can still get back to the dz. The turns are fun too, for me the spins are a bit fast after a 360 turn, but very exiting. One thing I did not like, when flying with no brakes the canopy is vibrating, that I did not like. Also I was taught that we have to test the canopy one of the tests included stalling it. I knew that I have to be careful and slowly play with the brakes to come out of the stall, I was a bit fast so the canopy fell in front of me and I followed it downwards, well scary again. Landing (Impact) was soft even with some flaring errors, OK compared to rounds. For these first jumps I screwed up the "final approach", landing each time at different locations of the dz, the best landing was 15 meters from my instructor (I did better with rounds). Another thing I will have to learn. Overall, it was great. See attached pics. EDIT: After looking at the "mebeforelanding" pic I am not sure if it is me, maybe my friend (both canopies are the same color). But for DROPZONE FORUM readers it is me. OVER
  5. For Hungary I found this, now you have to find for the rest ~180 countries. It is from 1948 to 2000. OVER Hungaryjumps.xls
  6. I've checked we use ALAN 456 PMR for the instructor and Stabo Freecom 300 for the jumpers If you are in the US you should check the specs of them and find equivalent ones. OVER
  7. We use, I think two-way PTTs. So theoretically students -like me- can answer. But they usually they dont. The two way communication is only good for, if somebody drifted away and they are searching for him -even with radios some people can be deaf to clear and loud instructions-. Today I am going to the skydiving club I can check the brand name. Mainly it is a hand-held transreceiver for the instructor and some -we have four- smaller and simplier ones for the students. You can set to transmit to all four or more students or to each one separately. We put it on the chest strap as it is loud enough. OVER
  8. I talked with a friend so I have two options I get the material And my colleague will do it for me. Or there is a guy making jumpsuits around 90USD but he lives like 300km away. So either way I'd like to design my own so that is why I need that pattern. I'd design an Elvis type one such as the Flying Elvi team has. I know white color is not the best choice but it looks cool. Anyways first I should learn basic freefall 'tactics" and stop my uncotrolled Style and Accuracy jumps as they are without style and accuracy. But, I like making plans before., so I do not have to decide in two days when I'll order the jumpsuit. OVER
  9. " but my jumpsuits cost me $30 " ????????? Where ? I am going there OVER
  10. I've tried that but, I have a colleague and she is a dressmaker by her original profession so she could do it for me. I can buy all the required materials, but she needs exact patterns so the simple sketch images of jumpsuits are not enough for her. OVER
  11. I'd like to design my own jumpsuit, so does anybody has a "dress pattern" what I can edit? OVER
  12. Thanks for the info, maybe here in Hungary they use a different measurment I know that at the medical test what I mentioned (for pilots, skydivers etc) the acceptable range is between I think 2 and 6.3 (the normal test is OK untill 6.5). I just checked on the net the measurement is "mmol/l" (millimoles per Liter) I think in US they use mg/dl (milligrams/deciliter). The test does not shows the 3 month average as you must go with empty stomach, it shows the sugar/glucose level at the time of the test. Even a coffee can screw it up. Check the following link http://www.faqs.org/faqs/diabetes/faq/part1/section-9.html So as a conclusion my sugar level is OK/normal/average just I have to be more carefull what I eat -everybody should do that-. And I HAVE TO loose that extra 8 kilos I have. Regarding jumping with any medical problems. The Hungarian Skydiving Association is just trying to convince the Civial Aviation Authority not to have medical tests for skydivers. It is expensive for a useless thing. I can screw up beginners courses, for example you go to a DZ you like jumping, you would try it but you can only do a tandem, becasue you need the medical paper for a S/l or AFF. The test is one day -again 1 day of vacation-: Blood test, urine sample, X-ray screening, ECG, blood-pressure test, dental test, eye test, ear/nose/throat, neurology test, psychological test. The same as everywhere else in the World for pilots. OVER
  13. In Hungary where I live you can not jump with diabetes. Unfortunately my blood sugar level is not bad however after -let's say eating- it goes up and goes down slower than it should. So I was really scared, but at least it goes down. The highest number they measured -without eating, in the morning- was 6.5 -I do not know what is the unit of measurement. Again unfortunately here in Hungary for jumping you have to have 2nd class medical certification issued by Civil Aviation Authority. I was lucky they measured 5.3 it was OK, but in August I have to go to renew it again I ma scared. Oh, last thing: 2nd class aeronautical medical certification is good for: Private Pilots, Glider Pilots, Ballon, Pilots, Flight Radiooperators, Flight Mechanics, Steward/esses and "Parachutists" Nice system isn't it, to be able to jump I have to fit as an astronaut. 14. No, I would not jump with a round. Because I am STILL waiting for the good weather to jump my first ram-air after 49 round jumps. OKAY Para-Commander, UT-15, SW-5 I would not jump vertical speed is to much. RS 4/4A, D-1-5U, ZT-2 I would jump anyitme. In our club the begginers -untill 40-50 jumps like me- jump with ZT-2. That is a Hungarian brand new round, in a backpack conatainer (c/w 3 ring system, RSL, Cypres, round reserve). We bought these chutes last June, because the round static-line jumps are safer (especially with Cypres "on board") for beginners, and require less skills (watching the scary exits of ram-air S/L first jumpers). Also in the conatiner you can fit a bigger ram-air. see pics Blue chute a nice girl from the club Red chute me on an accuracy competiton (I had three jumps, can't remember exact distances: 1st around 20meter, 2nd around 9meter, 3rd around 14meter if I remember well) OVER
  15. A fellow skydiver sent me a link to a Russian site reporting a tandem jump with two "passangers". Check out. ARTICLE http://www.skydiver.com.ua/english/news/trio/index.htm VIDEO http://www.vesti.ru/video.html?vid=19434 The video is in Russian. PS: If anybody would tell me how to download/capture that asf video I would be gratefull. I have tried with Streambox VCR capture :-( no luck. OVER

  17. 9 round static-lines 40 round freefalls ...and because of the weather STILL waiting for the first freefall ram-air jump, I passed the "jump" exam (exit @ 2500m, stable fall, imitation of opening [by throwing away and old plastic bag], backloop, 180 left, 180 right, stable opening) I passed the written etc. etc. etc. but I'll have to wait for some more weeks But then... If I could start again I would follow the same path. AFF is expensive and might give a false feeling of experience. Square S/L - suicide With my little experience I have seen ram-air s/l students: -as we call counting the pop-rivets on the plane after "superb" exit -missjudging wind direction (when at least 10 others landing in the good direction) -missing a huge ex-military airfield, thus landing near to a high voltage transformer with a canopy that super-controllable, super-speed compared to rounds -opening at 300m because he was doing 180 turns from exit AND he said that "You can not open in turns") What I would like is to jump with an instructor after having 10-15 ram-air jumps, kinda like AFF but leaving out the too basic stuff (if I find a sponsor see signiture). 20. G-222 / C-27 Spartan maybe G-222 is a STOL transport deigned and produced in accordance with the NATO requirement for a V/STOL transport. After the requirement was abandoned the G-222 became a more conventional design, looking like a smaller, twin-engined C-130. It is considered as one of the most successful medium range transprts. The USAF bought 10 of these planes and operated them as the C-27 ?Spartan?. It was acquired by the USAF to meet Air Force requirements for a rugged, medium size airland transport. The aircraft is particularly suited for short-to-medium range tactical operations into semi-prepared airfields as short as 600 meters. The G-222 is an all-weather, day/night transport with capabilities to perform medical evacuation missions. It can carry 24 litters and four medical attendants, or 34 ground troops. It has a cargo capacity of more than 54 cubic meters, or 5,400 kg. http://www.tayyareci.com/digerucaklar/italya/g222.as p http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/c-27.htm http://www.lmaeronautics.com/products/airmobility/c-27/ OVER

  25. Lazy Americanos without RULES and REGULATIONS and LAWS how and where to store a rig. Check out our super rules for storage. I do not think that anybody in the past 10 years did this -except military-. The funnies thing this is a law issued by the Civil Aviation Authority many-many years ago -still effective. Conditions for storing parachutes Temperature: between +5C and +30C Humidity: between 30-80% No radiation (sunlight, UV) No chemicals or oil-steam No fretters, rodents Parachutes must be stored at least 50cm from roof or wall, 20cm from floor At least 1m from heaters. The storage room should be closed from unauthorized persons. A device must be in the storage room to measure temperature and humidity. Two times a day (morning, afternoon) the temperature and humidity must be checked and documented. These documents must be kept for one year. The parachutes must be stored with their logbooks. OVER
