I "may" have seen a Tandem I (that's since retired) use a runner#s gps on a couple of dives. I think it was a "fore runner" maybe....... Jump Shack's toggles have double snaps and a really elegant way of stowing the line through a loop on the front of the riser. I have had a few rigging customers who have had toggle fires on opening with other systems and they've all bought Jump Shack risers after looking at mine....... Andy, you have no idea. I've been living here 15 years now and it is staggering how you can go from hero to zero in a few milliseconds if you let the U.S.Flag touch the ground at a demo. I called Eric at SSK. The answer wasn't just "No!" but "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" so I guess he'll have to do without. I looked at the Cypres & the SSK website to find a list of rigs that can be retrofitted with an AAD. Anyone know where to find such a thing? I have a customer with a 20 year old National Mirage (2 pin) that wants to fit it with an AAD...... any ideas? There was a beautiful video (shot by Kaz Sheeky, I think) of Pablo Rockefeller taking his baby in a car safety seat on a tandem at Skydive Daytona. I fell for it hook line and sinker...... until they pointed out the moment that they switched the baby for a doll, but it was SO well done. (Pablo REALLY had to fly that tandem though, I would NOT recommend a car safety seat as a passenger). there have been incidents of harnesses breaking, notably adjustable student harnesses. The manufacturer of the harnesses that broke issued an instruction to riggers to immediately inspect the harness in the field. At least one other manufacturer issued a "redesignation of use" notice for their single point adjustable harness, declaring it to be used for round parachutes only, and introduced a pulley adjust system that deflected the vulnerability. The 1st line of defense against harness failure belongs to the skydiver that owns the gear. This is otherwise known as "take care of your shit, your life depends on it". However, many skydivers don't take care of their equipment leading to line of defense #2. The "repack cycle" - no, not the bike that you ride to the rigging loft on, but the mandatory inspection and repack cycle (120 days in the USA). Note it's not just a repack cycle, it's an INSPECT and repack cycle. Your rigger will inspect the harness for signs of wear and weak stitching (note - you can do a lot of damage to your gear in 120 days - so please refer back to line of defense #1).
