    new risers

Jumpshack make great risers with snaps on the toggles. No velcro to "eat the lines" and no matter how unstable your deployment (not than mine ever is) the toggle stay right there. www.jumpshack.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  2. I change them every time, it's a few cents worth of material and I consider it a part of the repack Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  3. I told you it was early..... that's a great write up, thanks Tom! Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  4. *** Keep in mind that officially, you must be a rigger or under the direct supervision of a rigger to pack a main other than your own. (direct supervision is read rather loosely in many circumstances) It's early and I haven't had coffee yet, but I seem to remember that they more clearly defined what "under supervision" means, and I believe it's "Rigger must be there to answer questions and willing to assume responsibility for the pack job" - but dude, I've packed many, many thousands of them and just use the following rule "Pack it like you're going to jump it" - good luck! Rigger Tool Bag

The catch on the old Fishing Tackle box finally gave way and I was looking for a tool bag over the winter. I had admired one of my tutor's "Rigger's Tool Case", but really couldn't justify the $170+ price tag that I saw it advertised for. However, while in Sears I found a Contractor's briefcase and I think it was around $10. It has multiple pockets for tools, seals, cord, manuals etc. It's really strong, and if you change your last name to "Craftsman" I guess it's personalized. Anyway, I like it, it does the job and I just wanted to pass the tip on. I've posted a couple of pics. 7. yep - and the only rig out of date was the pilot's they do happen though and when you least expect them. They happen more frequently if they do one and find something of course....... 8. no - that's why I ducked Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  9. check out the pictures on my site at this link http://www.sidsrigging.com/skydivers/skydivers_index.htm old gear doesn't have to be dirty gear, just don't try this at home (in other words get your rigger to do it). 10. I stuck this on the other thread, but I won't pack anything with a "catapult" (read secondary) pilot chute, I'm not certifying something as airworthy that probably never was in the first place (duck......) 11. well, I won't pack anything with a "catapult" (read secondary) pilot chute. Not naming brands or anything , but I'll pack Racers any day... sid www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  12. if anyone would like to see a short video of Chris landing after his 2000th skydive it's on the team badfish site, news page. http://www.badfishfreefly.com/latestnews/news_index.htm congratulations buddy!!!!!!!!! 13. you better believe it's coming!!!!!!!! If we hadn't got so drunk on Saturday that we forgot where we put the damn shit - you'd have been smelling dairy product for a week!!!!!!!!!!! 14. the newer racers have a great tuck pocket that aids riser cover. The vecro acts as a "guide" to keep the cover in place (not well explained, they have a great visual on their web site I believe). I'm glad to see that many other riggers are not falling into that "Charge more for a racer" crap. The only time they should cost more is if you have to change the quick loop, which is not often and a valid part of the maintenance of a quality rig. Racers are comfortable - very comfortable to wear - and once you know how to pack them, no harder than any other rig. The reserve deploys incredibly quickly too (that'a a bonus). 15. don't forget - if you get a Racer you'll really piss off your rigger........oh wait, I'm your rigger and I like Racers! pd www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  16. Rob - thanks - I just did the rig and you're right, apart from flaps 1 & 2 closing in a different order it's identical..er similar...er bears a striking resemblance to....oh shit - it's a knock off. Appreciate the offer though. pd www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  17. I really appreciate that - I'll call the owner and see if he has the manual and if'n he does I'll make a copy - if not I'll holla at you! Thanks again pd www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  18. a rigger walked into a bar - oops wrong forum. A skydiver walked into the loft yesterday with a Stunts Eclipse and no manual. I've googled and can't find their web site - does anyone have the url? Thanks www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  19. and learn from your mistake! Daisy chain your lines. The best time to do this is as soon as you land and are clear of the landing area and it's hazards (other jumpers). It takes a few seconds to daisy chain, and can save you hours of frustration. www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  20. no - let him buy cheap shit - get ragged out equipment at whatever he does and take the absolute minimum of training while adopting a cocky "you can't teach me anything" attitude. It's called Darwinism in action and it helps stop the planet getting too overcrowded. Hey - all you SERIOUS skydivers out there (as in those that take what they do seriously) be safe and have fun out there this weekend...... 21. ever stood on the ground with a radio in your hand, wondering if they'll listen? Walk and chew gum my ass, that would account for over 50% of the serious & fatal incidents occuring under good canopies right? I"m glad that USPA included the letter though.... Sid Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  22. Anybody else get a laugh out of the letter in the latest parachutist about the new training programs? The dude obviously missed the point, there is already a system in place to weed out bad and dangerous students - after all we got rid of his ass! Happy paddling you assclown! Sid www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  23. I've pro-packed hundreds of Mantas, they're smaller than tandems and I've pro-packed enough of those things too! Most manufacturers recommend the propack because you're packing the canopy on the same heading that you want it to open. For those interested I have a pro-packing study guide on my web site for free at http://www.sidsrigging.com with over 30 pages of instruction and high res. pictures. There is also a cd available with an extra 200 mbs of video clips (couldn't put those on the web site I'd have got hammered for bandwidth). Enjoy! 24. a real good friend of mine uses a canvas belt with 2 pieces of light bungee attached. The belt goes around the student's waist during a training/dirt dive and the bungee goes to two loops which slip over the student's feet. Then while they're on the creeper or horizontal trainer they have to exert pressure against the bungee simulating "wind on the shins" - I've seen that it really helps the learn leg awareness as most students have no idea what their lower limbs are doing in freefall. sid http://www.sidsrigging.com Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right?
  25. hey - I wrote that music too!!!!!!!! (Don't know whether you enjoyed it or not - I'm just showing off) thanks for the comment about the clip though, (incense on the way, pass the patchouli?)
