  1. Us british... Not namenig this person, he has done 250+ jumps and he is jumpmig 170 ZP exe cancopy. his DZ is sayining that he is ready for 135 canopy. he personally feels not ready for it! He wants to go for 150... another story... Peer pressure... Myself, I have done 300 jumps, I tried out every cancopy the DZ had before buying my own first cancopy which was shilhoutte 170 (which sucked in deep spots!) then at 150 jumps, I downsized to Stilletto 150. being a kite flyer expert (I imagine myself attached to the kite... if I crash it, OUCH!!!! So hence I don't swoop!) Now at 300 jumps, DZ is saying am ready for stiletto 120!!! Can you see my and Ian's Dillema! We are being told that we are ready for smaller canopy.... We want more fun but we put our safety first!! Question is ... are we???
  2. I'm the organizer!!! I had several things on my plate (organised Stag weekend, bing the best man in a wedding in 3 weeks time!, to name few). Once the wedding is out of the way, I will pull my sleeves up and get everyone upto date with progress. I'll be writing a website decated to DWR 2010 in Empuriabrava.
  3. Yes that's correct as far as I know. What they'do is (That's what I have been told), they keep your reserve as it is, install new reserve lines, thread thro the AAD, remove old reserve line. To be honest - I've heard they do good job but how they do it exactly - I don't know.
  4. Come to think of it. June might be a better time just in case my little girl is old enough for kindergarten. You know those school schedules - most schools start the last week of August and finish the last week of May or first week of June. There is no way that I'm going to be able to go to Spain by myself. I will have to take my wife and little girl along. Don't get me started on how much THAT will cost me. If we get a 2nd baby between now and then, I'm screwed anyway and will be staying home. Billy... Bearing that in mind, I know Americans finish school earlier (Much) than Europeans. With us Europeans, we can easily fit into June - right before our school breaks up for summer vaccation hence it being less busy than July so I reckon late June is our best bet for you Amaricans & us Europeans... Anyone have their say? before I go ahead and negogate with Empuria DZ
  5. We don't jump in Norway but will do sometime in the future. We usually jump in the UK with few other deaf skydivers. We usually meet up at these DZ - Hibaldstow, Langar & Hinton
  6. Save the beers for Empuria!! That way we all deaffies can congratulate you!! Hope you do your 100th 200th or whatever jumps, We'd love give you the "Pie" heheh
  7. Awesome! We'll need to add you and Patrik to the profile pages on our website. PM me your basic info and a nice close up picture and have Patrik do the same. We're overdue for a revision of all profile pages anyway.
  8. I have been at Empuria in these months... March, April, June & August/September. March was pretty windy (my time!) It was buzzing & alive in August/September - quite a while wait to get onto load (About 45 mins to 1 hour). April - plenty of people about but still easy to get many jumps in. June was pretty quiet, I managed to get 10 jumps in 2 days! As for those who are worried about winds... When it becomes breezy, they put sign up "50 Jumps" meaning people with less than 50 jumps are grounded. Wind increases "100 Jumps"... Wind increases "200 Jumps"... wind increases more than 15 mph (I think) then everyone is grounded - usually around lunch time for up to between 1 to 2 hours.
  9. Spain... it's supposely to be sunny all year long! heheh Hence my asking them when A) best weather season B) Off peak times (So that we can get more jumps in) C) Avoiding holiday makers (Vaccation)season as things tend to be more expensive - Hence being at suggested dates June (Just before vaccaton season) & mid September (Just after vaccation season) - with these propose dates, flighhts are much cheaper for all of us. 10. I am in the progress of setting up a new website for DWR 2010 (Hope to pull in some sponsorships) containing as much information as I can input for DWR 2010... I am also in the progress of making arrangements with Skydive Emburiabrava. Planning things ahead... Would you please "vote" which month suits you all best... June or September 2010? Blue Skies Pete
  11. DWR stands for Deaf World Record
  12. At the BPA AGM, I met up with Alan Thompson & we discussed DWR and we all agreed that 2010 would be a good idea as it give us all time to save up as well as giving new skydivers chance to learn more skills. Alan & I have agreed to the place to be at Empuriabrava as it IS decent dropzone with lots of benefits... The down side are 2 main things. You would require AAD (You can hire one from the DZ for small fee) and at around lunch time it does get windy but usually lasts for up to 2 hours which we can use the time for lunch, de-breifs, dirt dives, etc. Alan has travelled to many dropzones & he reckons Empuriabrava is the one for DWR 2010.
  13. Congratulations guys - Wish we were there! Alan Thompson - you have been to many DZ in europe, suggest you and I get together and arrange something for the next DWR 2009 or 2010? I am happy to host the arrangement but leave the formation slots to the captains. Blue Skies Pete
  14. Yeah it is a matter of time!!! Like you at around your number of jumps - I had been talking to "Sky Gods" about their cut-aways etc... At around my 70 - 80 jumps under my belt at the time - I had this niggling thoughts at the back of my head was that "Your next jump could be a reserve ride". On my 84th jump (4th jump of the day). I remember clearly that as I was pro packing my shiloutte 170 having the same niggling thoughts so I did careful anal packing checking everything & everything was neat. Probably one of my neatest pack job into the D-bag & looked great. Stowed the lines. Went up, great dive to 3,500 for the dump, only to find the canopy on the horzon on fast spinning with line over malfunction. Took deeep breath - Cut-away - reserve. Landed on the peas! - Went to the town & got crate of beers with a huge smile (No longer a reserve virgin!) It's been almost 200 jumps since my last cut-away. Now I'm jumping with Stiletto 150 (140+ jumps) and I have done some really lousy pack jobs on the stiletto and opens just great! Bottom line is that when you have malifunction is that you drew the short straw on that day! IMO
