  6. Actually we weren't thinking when we put it together, thank god it panned out and everyone was ok. The whole thing was the guy on the bottom was going to cutaway and we would have a missing man formation. Well we had the missing man, and the missing weight needed to hold his canopy under control. We broke apart, the canopy floated away and not into anything and everyone was cool, but thank god for hook knives. My mom watched the video and gave me a few choice words. Don't know why though!!! take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  7. Well I guess you won't see T&A this weekend then Ransome!!! Sorry! take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  8. We were doing a Memorial dive for a fallen fellow skydiver who was a CRW dog to the last day (unfortunately he died on my first CRW jump) so we did a tribute to him. I think he was there messing with us because it got worse. See attached... take the time to appreciate the people around you.

  11. My friend is starting her AFF/ASP whatever they call it now and she has been asking my advice on what to buy, size, container, etc... I know when I started jumping (even though it wasn't all that long ago - 4yrs) I went through it a little different and heard flack from everyone and didn't want to give her wrong advice. Anyone who could give some good pointers would be appreciated. Here are her specs: 5'4" 115lbs Not sure of what type of flying she is going to do, not leaning one way or the other at this point. Currently looking at a Wings container w/ a hornet 150 main When I started I found an older Javelin with a Sabre 150 in it and I didn't have problems, but what should she expect to move down to right after "graduation"? This all might be a little soon to be talking about but I'd like to show her the different opinions since she is so new to our sport, she is open minded so I think the more information she has the better off she will be. Thanks! take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  12. This looks as bad as that one.... Kind of. Can you tell me what went wrong with my CRW jump?? take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  13. See, that would be me until pic #4, then there'd be a tumble and grass flying everywhere. I might have one of those on my computer let me see if I can find it. take the time to appreciate the people around you.

    Mortality ...

I'm sorry to hear about losing your boyfriend. I know losing friends is rough enough, I can't imagine losing someone you have shared more with than anyone else. My heart goes out to you. It seems like the losses keep hitting closer to home with every one that comes along. I hope I don't get any closer to home than this, I don't think I could handle it. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  15. Seems like just a number to most people. I waited mostly because my boyfriend is in Germany until this Friday and he made sure to give me shit about how I was going to do my 400th without him so I figured I'd wait. Boys. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  16. My girlfriend from work was supposed to get deployed to Kansas (blech) but since they cancelled her deployment we took her skydiving instead.. She was with me at Eloy when Holly had her accident. But she wasn't discouraged. She cried with me and then went up on her jump. She still beamed, signed up for her level I AFF, wish her luck!! We were hoping to do a tandem with her and me and a few other people, but she did her jump and I wasn't much up for it after Saturday morning. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  17. I hope this coming up weekend is as fun for me!! I'm doing the big 400.. Probably not that big for some people, but every number is just one more fun time for me!!! take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  18. This may be a stupid girl thing, but how about something that isn't going to die on her parents later? Nice plant that they can keep around for a while?? Just a thought.. take the time to appreciate the people around you.

You are right about never getting used to losing friends, but look at how many good friends you gain with similiar interests. Not that it makes it any easier to lose someone you care about, but it helps to know you have a support group at the DZ. take the time to appreciate the people around you.

    Mortality ...

From a newbie dz.com-er I know where you are coming from. I witnessed a fellow skydiver die almost 2 years ago and I was fairly new in the sport. It was pretty traumatic for me as it was my first CRW jump and he basically died right there in a few of our arms while we all performed CPR on him and begged him to hold on. Not one of my best memories. After that I almost felt like I had to prove something to who, I have no idea. But nothing scared me. Now, things are gradually starting to seem more real as far as death goes, and sometimes I actually have to take a nice deep breath and just go out the door. So I think I know about where you are. Although I find that I go through phases where the first jump is really almost scary, but the 2nd one feels better and better as the day goes. Maybe that is just because I'm only a weekend jumper? take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  22. Kevin I'll do the paypall thing, if I can't figure it out a check will go out first thing tomorrow morning. I definately like the "Rock Star" idea. Everything Holly was going to do was going to be done like a Rock Star if it was to be done by her. Ap
