  1. I can see how taking massive amounts of time off due to injuring yourself doing your weekend activities (I'm assuming that you hurt yourself on a BASE jump), but I'm not really sure they can tell you that you can't BASE anymore because they don't like it, I mean - a stretch of course- but a golfer could get ping'd with a golf ball, and then what? I've been very lucky with injuries (knock on wood) and the only thing I had was a damaged iliosacral ligament in my lower back from a canopy collapse at about 20+ feet, but I showed up at work w/ crutches only a couple days later (didn't actually have to miss work), so they haven't seen skydiving really hindering my ability to do my job. My current boss tells me that I'm not allowed to let anything happen to me period because she doesn't want anyone else doing my job. She is really quite cool.
  2. I just bought a motorcycle and I was going to do NOTHZ but my boyfriend didn't think that was very funny, so I figured that I'd do GEIL (in german means horny, or cool).. I should put my license plate frame on there that says, 'if you can beat me, you can eat me' But I'll behave.... take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  3. I'm on my way over to the hospital now, so I'll print these out and take them over to him. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  4. Wow, the spider plants I have are in AZ and outside no less and they are totally thriving. But the ground that they are in stays pretty moist. My mom used to re-root them in water just like the other plants you can do that with that I can't remember the name of right now... Maybe I'll just send you some of mine since they seem to just take off, they must have gotten acclimated to the weather outside, and they even handled a transplant from shade all day long to sun until around 1pm. Sorry, I guess I didn't give you any really good advice.. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  5. Just sent him an email. Hope he has a big inbox. He'll have it come back to bite him in the ass. Not that it helps you out right now... Sorry, that really sucks. Oh, and if you are going to buy new, stay away from Broadway Photo, nothing but problems and scams. Personal experience. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  6. My boyfriend and I also did the life insurance policy thingy for eachother. He has two children in Germany w/ his ex and we figured that if anything ever happened to him then we could basically take care of anyone w/ financial obligations w/ him. But we had to disclose how many jumps per year, etc.. It was more expensive for him than for me ($130 for me $180 for him - per month), but ours is also a type of savings account as well. Keep in mind though that they ask you how many jumps you do per year, and the more you tell them, the more of a risk they think you are, they don't see it as, you jump more you are more current, they would rather you only jumped 5-6 times a year. But it is more than a normal "non-skydiving" persons insurance by far. Most of the policies that we checked for any significant amount wouldn't cover you if they found out you did a sport on their questionaire, and if they are a big name company (that you think you won't have problems getting paid out from if something happens to the other person - which I pray I'll never have to find out how to receive funds from them) then skydiving and scuba diving are on their questionaires (which we do both, so that might have affected us as well). Long to short, we went with Allstate who is basically a middle man for the company that they go through. Good luck take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  7. I've been able to do about 10 jumps so far w/ my camera helmet. I have a very nice opening canopy and for the most part don't have any problems, except one major one.... I think that I'm head high (as I was told by about every experienced camera flyer at Eloy) without overdoing my arch, but then when I actually think about, ok look up, don't get stiff, don't look up too much, it seems it does more damage to my neck. I haven't had anyone video my openings, but there was a friend of mine who told me I should see more of the horizon in my video and when I took that advice I managed to knock out my atlas and axis.. Which really sucked 2 days later and a quick trip to the chiropractor fixed it, but is there any tips that anyone can give me for this? I enjoy doing the video for fun, but I don't want to break myself over it. Here is some information on my helmet. Bonehead optik top mounted (I was worried about snaging lines on a side mount because I have narrow shoulders so my risers are pretty much right there when I open). Sony PC105... any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  8. Not that it is right, but my friends payment to Cox was MIA and they turned off his cable and internet, so as he said, he did what any desperate geek would do and drove around until he found an unsecure network, paid his bill from there and drove home. But he isn't one to worry about, he did it to save his own ass and didn't do any harm to the person on the other end. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  9. Eric~ Sending healing thoughts your way.. Hang in there, you were strong from the beginning of this whole ordeal and you'll make it through this, it might just take a while. April take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  10. Yep, I had it as well. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  11. 2nd solo. Level 2 AFF. Pulled the ripcord, nothing happened, looked to make sure I really had the whole ripcord in my hand, I did, so I went to silver. My instructor kind of hung around to make sure things were ok, and was tapping the side of the rig as the reserve came out. Got it on video too... take the time to appreciate the people around you.

  17. I haven't owned my own for a while.. But when I did I had a ZX6, and then rode a 900RR (way too big for me), GSXR750 (older one).. I want a 748 next time!!!!! My pics are at work, so I'll have to upload it later..
  18. I lived in Korea for about a year and my mom shipped a box over, needless to say, it took 4 or 5 months before it arrived. Something about she didn't write "Airmail" and it took a boat. Although I'd think that the sender would talk to the Post office person to make sure it was there in an acceptable time frame.. Good luck, hope it makes it there. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  19. Well I live in Phoenix... (Also the middle of a desert), but I have a kick ass DZ.. Just meant w/ the comment that hopefully they won't be wasting the water that should be back in the lake. Geez..... take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  20. Funny, Some states are in severe droughts and others have so much to waste it on stuff like this. What do they do when it melts or starts to? Put it back in the lake so it can be where it should? Sorry, my parents are in Vegas and they can't wash their cars, or water their lawns because of not having enough water. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  21. I didn't think I'd want to post on this thread about anything, but what the hell...I definitely won't go into any specific details. One of my parents was both verbally and physically abusive, and I think that is part of my reasoning for deciding to not have children. I don't want to even have the slightest chance that I'd do that. I know how I felt growing up and I wouldn't want a child to feel the same way. Granted I know that if you don't want to do something you wont, but if anyone was verbally abusive to a child (especially my own), I would just not handle it well. I just don't quite understand. I know parents lose their tempers, but kids to me are just little people, looking to their parents for guidance and love. Someone once told me that "you don't hit your friends or your animals, so what would make your kids any different". Dont those people who have had any sort of abuse wish their parents knew that? I haven't really gotten any sort of apology from my parental figure, but then again I don't expect one. But we have a somewhat normal parent daughter relationship now. It finally stopped when I was 17 and they raised a closed fist to me and I grabbed them and told them not to touch me ever again. I guess it worked. I always used to care what my parents thought and would hide tattoos, etc.. Now I figue, WTF, it is my body and I can do with it what I want. So it took me quite a while to figure out that I was my own person. Although I didn't love me then, and now I do, I think that is a major step. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  22. That is pretty bad.. Although I embarrased myself just a couple days ago when I went to lunch w/ a higher up from my work and when I was helping him put his sun shade in the window of the car I was like "dang you have a massive one" (meaning his sun shade was too big for the car). He just looked at me and smiled and when I realized what I said it was a little late.. Oops. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  23. Yep, been busy... But it has been so much fun and I have met a ton of people... Very cool people. I even bought a new canopy.. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
  24. Well I've managed to find everyone so far!!! I'll be on the way to pick up Kevin922 and Skreamer shortly, unfortunately I didn't get Skreamers flight info. Crap... So if he calls any of you guys freaking out, or anyone knows his info call my mobile please!!! There are 4 terminals here so I could find him, but it might take a while. Thanks to all... Nevermind... found the info on the internet...
