I think this is an excellent article, but would substitute the term "Skyhook" for "Mard". Skyhook is a brand, whereas the article is about the benefits of a Mard/RSL.

I live at the intersection of Edgerton Rd and K10, and I know that this dropzone was within ±2miles of my home. I would be really interested if someone could googlemap and show the spot. =P

Interesting article! I agree and disagree with point #2 - seems to me that there are some very good up and coming gear manufacturers that have been in a niche market and are now breaking out. Peregrine Manufacturing, Basik Air Concepts, Innovative Parachute Technology are a few examples of newer guys in the market that are providing great components for the value. I guess I would rather have someone with an offbrand container + AAD than name brand container + no AAD.

Interesting! They went with a full F-111, not hybrid? I would be interested to hear the specifics that compare this to perhaps other comparable canopies (Triathlon, PD-7 and 9 cell F-111 mains, Falcons, etc).

Excellent article! I think #9 is a good point, because it addresses both the safety and training aspect as well as how it merges with the Dropzone culture.
My last malfuction was on a classic accuracy training jump with a Parafoil 282 - and the chorus from the peanut gallery clouded my decisions such that I had to physically take a step back and walk the scenario through step-by-step to take away anything meaningful. Every malfunction should result in a safety improvement, whether it be in gear, training, modifying your decision tree, or some other action that makes you safer in the sky. Gathering the facts and separating the opinions in key in that. Thank you for addressing this!
