  1. Totally worth doing a tandem for your first jump! Get to relax and not worry about any responsibility and see what freefall is all about! Tandem is a great way to be introduced to the sport!
  2. I totally agree. I had a Hornet 135 and weigh 175. The Hornet didn't like that at all! Now I am flying a Sabre2 120 and it flys and performs like a dream and surfs very well! I guess that is the difference between the Sabre2 and Hornet.
  3. Well, yes I let the brake lines out and yes I am educated on canopies. I am not sure why "out diving" the Sabre2 is a plus or why colored packing tabs are better, (unless you are using it as a training tool, and of course it packs smaller- it has about half the stitching! The person who started this post wanted opinions on the Hornet and I told my experience. You may want to watch who you are calling a "snob" and take advice, good and bad, from people who have been around and experienced other things. It's great that you have had a good experience with your Hornet, but I didnt like mine at all and I love my Sabre2! Don't throw too many jabs at people you don't know in the sport.
  4. I had a Hornet for about 50 jumps thinking it was going to be the same as a Sabre2. No comparison! Put side by side you could actually SEE the difference in quality and feel. The openings were terrible on the Hornet and it didn't surf well at all! It buffeted badly in the front riser turns and I hated it. Then I got the Sabre2! What a dream canopy! Perfect openings, awesome quality, great performance, great front riser inputs, and very respectable surfs! I had a Sabre for over 1000 jumps when I switched to the Hornet thinking i would save some $$. Bad call! I will never sacrafice quality like PD to save a few buck again!
  5. Hey, I just noticed where you are from. I was born in Tunkhannock, PA. I now live just over the border in NY and jump in Ovid,NY. Stop up and see us sometime if you get a chance!
  6. Without a doubt- Jen Key of the Sugar Gliderz!
  7. Have FUN!!!! Don't work yourself up so much that you forget what it is all about. To have fun! Just do what you have been taught to have a safe skydive and enjoy yourself! Hope to meet you in the sky someday!
  8. looks great! nice choice on the sabre2!!
  9. Fly with your feet! Try not to rely totally on your arms to hold you in a sit. Push your feet down against the wind and get your knees and feet slightly more than shoulder width apart. I see many people learning to sit and their feet are too close together and they are leaning back relying on their arms to hold them up. Really concentrate on your feet and feel them pressing down. It will take a few jumps but once you get it, you will progress quickly!
  10. Take my word for it- the CD is awesome and a must have for anyone learning to pack or looking for new techniques!
  11. Oh yeah, I know that position! It's what I go to when the fun is over!
  12. I had a Sabre and experienced alot of hard openings. Didn't seem to matter how I packed it. But I absolutely loved the way it flew and landed! So when I went to a new canopy and was recommended a Sabre2, I was hesitant even though I was assured that the opening problems were fixed. Much to my delight, I have over 150 jumps on this new Sabre2 and I don't have a single complaint. The openings are perfect. Soft, but not too long, and on heading! And the new Sabre2 flies like a dream and has a pretty respectable surf. If you like the characteristics of the Sabre, then I definitely would recommend a Sabre2!

  17. Hi there! My name is Chris Cowden and I was a good friend of Rob Tompkins. I jump at one of the DZs that he learned at and was lucky enough to have shared some great times with him. I held his pilotchute on his 4th BASE (300 ft.!!) Did I mention it was his 4th?! That wouldn't surprise anyone who knew him. I even have video! Just looking for old friends of Rob's to say hello to. I have met some great people thru Rob! -Chris www.badfishfreefly.com

Hey TequilaGirl! I just looked at your site. Nice! The best I can offer right now are small shirts, but I am looking into babydolls for next order. I am also in the process of putting up a page on our site for submitted pics of people sporting our shirts. We are now collecting pics and offer shirts at $12 if you agree to email us a pic for the site. Blue ones!
  19. Man, it took me 5 years and 4 steps down in canopy size to get to the point where you want to get now. I would say a Sabre2 is a good next step of the same size as the Spectre.
