  1. This is good news for those who witnessed the shit that happened last year. I'm much more enthusiastic about attending this year.
  2. Honestly? I don't think a 12 year old anyone should make a skydive. They don't have the maturity or wisdom to make an informed decision regarding risk/reward. The person could die. Tandems have gone in before and will do so again. Nobody should be putting their life on the line until they are old enough to really understand that they could die. For once, we agree on something. This is just foolish to push a 12 year old into a sport like this. Isn't there anyone older you can encourage? Talk about growing up too fast.
  3. Skyride annoys me with their tacky over zealous promotional tactics, but I’ve come to the realization that it is not about ME. It is an issue that needs to be worked out between the DZO’s & Skyride. If you were running a company and an outside agent offered to send you customers while offering payment to you on the customer’s behalf, you would be grateful and wouldn’t ask a ton of questions about it. That is what Skyride offers dropzones. Pre-paid customers that have already been sold a set of services. The dropzone simply acts as the end service provider while avoiding the hassles & sales pitches that are normally associated with booking students. While I am not privy to the financial situation at Perris, I know that their overhead is many times that of a typical dropzone. They have offered skydivers one of the best facilities on the planet in a sport that is generally unprofitable. As I have become more acquainted with the sport over the last few years, I’ve come to appreciate Perris more for their generosity to the skydive community.
  4. It appears to be an ad that someone placed. I had to refresh my screen several times to see it. Kinda lame that Perris is getting slammed. There are a lot of dropzones in SoCal that accept these certificates. I suggest skydivers stick to the community concerns and leave the business concerns to those who have invested millions in their facilities.
  5. If you really want to be involved in the sport, you have to make the time for it. There are these things called weekends. Why not spend the weekend at your favorite DZ. Get back in the air this weekend, just throw your shit in your car and go.
  6. You know, I have read countless complaints from people about skyride but the fact is, they survive because of lazy 1 time tandem customers who don't seem to know how to use bbb.com before handing over their credit card to a business 1000's of miles away. Buyer beware.
  7. I don’t mean to sound harsh but I doubt you are going to find a huge cash-flow in a sport such as skydiving. A sport that is currently dealing with it’s own shrinking economy. Sites like YouTube & Putfile as well as many others are totally free. The days of paying top dollar for video streaming is over and has been for several years.
  8. Well, how much did you end up paying for it? The DOM doesn't necessarily mean it was sold to a customer right off the assembly line. It could have sat in a box for six months before it was sold. Remember, Vigil's do not have a lifetime limit, so there is not a critical demand for customers to get the newest units. Cypres2 is a different story. Since you only get 4 years per cycle, people demand fresh units before shelling out $1,200
  9. Hi Joe, I’m a fan of your work. My best advice however may sound negative. I think you should bail on the whole “promotional video” idea. If you decide to go ahead, make sure to ask for a lot of money up front because you will never recoup your expenses on the back end. Here’s why. The skydiving industry is struggling because of greed and laziness among the DZ owners and equipment vendors. You know the reasons, I know the reasons but I refuse to get into another flame war on dz.com over it. Sniveling, tear jerking testimonials are not the answer. Promotion is. We have the skills, we have the planes and we have the passion for the sport. We need young blood and the only way to keep the sport alive is to make it affordable.
  10. I would get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion before having major brain surgery. This is not something that heals like a broken leg. You could end up a vegetable. You have my sympathy, but what in God’s name are you doing to yourself to have so much head trama? Maybe a $20 helmet is the answer?
  11. It's good that they have a smaller plane for when they can't fill the twin-otter. How many people does it hold? Is it brand new? Is it faster than the super otters?
  12. You really should think about that statement. You are making a major joint financial investment without being legally joined to each other. Get a wedding ring before you buy the house.
  13. Bro! That is life. People move on when you are not around. I’m actually a pretty nice guy in person. I’ve helped many people at the dropzone to jumpstart their cars, change tires and whatnot, but I honestly would have to decline if someone asked me to drop everything and get in my car to drive you 20 miles to your destination. That’s 40 miles roundtrip and would eat over an hour of my time. That’s something only a best friend would do. You weren’t dying, so what was the emergency? Now ask yourself, are you being a true friend, by asking for such a big favor? The friendships you make at dropzones are contingent on your activity in the sport. You can’t expect loyalty based on a sport.
  14. There have been many posts by men in similar situations. As the man of the house, you must exert yourself by informing your spouse that she will not dictate your choice of lifestyle. List all the things that make you an adult. 1) You pay the bills 2) Work a job 3) Raise your kids 4) Own a house If she continues to bitch, tell her that she has 2 children that she can mother all she wants. In the meantime, grow a set of balls and don’t get pushed around by someone who’s taken a vow to respect and obey your wishes.
  15. Every time I swear off this website I find some bullshit to draw me back! I just watched this video and Britney looks hot. Her face in the beginning looks soo good! When she turns to the side, you can see a little tummy, but I find it kinda sexy. She’s not 15 anymore, she has the body of a woman. There is not a guy on this website or the entire world that would not pay money to have sex with her looking like that. She doesn’t have to perform. Her presence is enough to make any man happy.
  16. Here is some funny shit..... It appears that Eddie is so fucked up in the head, he is actually trying to re-write history by inserting his son on all the classic Van Halen album covers! http://www.vanhalen.com/
  17. Tuck it, veil it, and hide it away. That’s my motto. At least those husbands have a handle on their women, as opposed to foolish Americans who let their women roam the beaches 90% naked. If you hide your treasure, it is less likely another man will try to steal it. Logic wins every time.
  18. The only thing creepy was the last string of photos. It's amazing the way time ravages beauty. They say a picture is worth 1000 words, and in a few short seconds, you can see her entire lifespan. I liked that each photo represented an era in time.
  19. Did any of them make any effort whatsoever to investigate the facts through the internet or by simply calling the dropzone to discuss the circumstances behind these incidents? Again, serious people look for answers. They don’t make excuses.
  20. I don’t think he went out of his way to make the sport look bad. The media were the ones who sensationalized it. This guy just didn’t have the experience or intelligence to accurately describe the incident. It was the exact same scenario with Shayna Richardson. I’ve constantly tried explaining to people that these videos actually help to promote the sport. Every soccer mom with too much time on her hands coupled by every dad that is stuck supporting an ungrateful family, while going through their mid-life crisis will eat this shit up. They watch these videos and become aroused by the perceived danger and excitement of the sport. Show me one person that was excited about learning to skydiving but then cancelled their plans after seeing a bad video. If you find someone, I can assure you that they are lying and simply trying to weasel out because they were never serious to begin with. In short, unless you’re a DZO with a struggling student program, don’t bother worrying about these incidents.
  21. Hello McBeth, I know you from Hollister and met you last year at the doomed Christmas boogie at Eloy. I didn't read this whole thread but I'm sure a lot of people have seconded the quote above. I’m guessing some guy dissed you and I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately people are sometimes only as loyal as their options. If you are that angry, I would suggest looking at what this fuckstain did that hurt you so badly and deal with it more constructively. Anger is really just a reaction to fear & hurt. Remeber that. Keep your head up. Scott
  22. I would. Buying a unit that goes to airtec for its maintenence cycle first guarantees you a unit that is flight worthy and good to go for ~4 years. I wouldn't want to pay till it checks out, but I'm sure you can arrange to have it returned to your rigger from Airtec and then pay before installation. That is a very technical answer but from a salesmanship perspective, how are you going to sell a car with a broken engine? It’s the added hassle on the buyers end that makes it hard to sell an expired Cypres. You know, buying a recently updated Cypres also guarantees 4 years
  23. You know, it's a good lesson to not leave valuable things lying around. If this guy actually took your PSP, you think he'd be playing with it out in the open? Seems a bit foolish. I find the best way to avoid theft is to not give people the opportunity in the first place.
  24. It's the Christmas boogie and I hope they enforce a 90 degree rule this year.
