  1. Funny, I was told that it's the folks on the ground who are supposed to get out of your way. But that was in reference to a straight in, regular pattern.. And before anyone freaks out let's assume that we all take reasonable precaution to NOT hit anyone who has already landed... So which one is it? If I'm getting my stuff together and hear a canopy coming in, and can't see the pilot until a second or two before impact, what should I do - duck and cover or jump? If you are going to move, drop straight to the deck. I dislike the idea of jumpers throwing big turns a truly swooping in a crowded pattern where this should really matter. Any talented canopy pilot should not be buzzing others on the ground during a full plane landing. Keep your head on a swivel. Running side to side is VERY counterproductive and will probably put you in more danger. Honestly, if you are 1-2 seconds from impact, you are probably going to get hit anyways.
  2. Also, take care with the PS4 as I think they took out a lot of streaming support for home media / music / DLNA in the launch version. The entire community flipped the fuck out so they are adding it back in a patch is my understanding. However I won't be buying one until they do.
  3. Fify - not a packers responsibility. Surely a packer is expected to ensure that as far as possible everything is 'right'? Yes its nice when the client stows brakes and tidies up. Wrong. You lay it down the way you want it packed. Excess stowed? Stow it yourself. There are many places that you get extra and better service from a packer, but certainly not expected. I have 1-2 packers that I trust with my setup. Still I'll hook the RDS back up, stow my excess brakes line and cock my pilot chute. Not that they can't or won't, but I make it easier on them and I know the critical portions are done by me. I strongly disagree. I pack most weekends to supplement my jump budget. It is the responsibility of a packer to ensure that they only close a rig in a safe and jumpable state - blaming the jumper is completely unacceptable. It IS acceptable to not take on a pack job or charge extra because it is a mess, rush or whatever. I've helped students learn how to lay down their gear neatly, with brakes stowed, pilot chute cocked because the more prepared it is the more packers are likely to put their pack job at the front of the queue. Packing mains is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly, I know of an incident recently where someone was very nearly killed due to a packing error on a main - in fact the person has multiple broken bones and a very long road to recovery. Not every screwup is covered by 'don't worry they have a reserve' I am not saying that you are wrong. I am just saying what you should expect when you toss your shit down on a packing mat at a boogie with packers you don't know. If you are going to trust complete strangers to pack for you at least take care of the critical components yourself. Set your brakes, stow excess if you want it stowed Uncollapse your slider Cock your pilot chute All the packers I know at my home DZ will certainly grab you if you hand them something unsafe to pack. They are a quality group, but don't tell them I said so. The packers I use for training / comps I would trust completely to hand a pile of shit and get it back perfectly. I however respect them too much to do that. If you aren't going to pack that thing yourself give it to the packer knowing you've taken care of the stuff that can really hurt you if they forget it.

  5. I would probably be waiting for you on the ground when you landed to have a discussion about my displeasure.
  6. Ahhhh, the always effective pitching with your back to the relative wind...
  7. You just happened to be the last post. Global "get your panties out of a wad" to anyone crying about this,
  8. they are from the UK not NYC, so it probably is not nearly as sensitive a subject as it us to us. the costume was in poor taste for sure but so what. i wouldnt wear it but understand they are young and from the UK so not really bothered by it at all. i dont know these the girls so am not even remotely bothered by their behavior. life is way to short for me to be concerned about the Halloween costumes of strangers. Wah. Sack up babies.
  9. I thought the whole idea of space was nothingness where sound could not be heard because there isn't anything to carry the sound waves. If I remember from the article the other day, this puppy is is really low earth orbit, and technically still in the atmosphere, but the ion drive keeps it moving fast enough to not come out of orbit.
  10. If this is the case you may have Raynaud's Syndrome. You can replicate it by holding a glass of ice water in the freezer for 30 seconds and then bringing it back into a warm room. Its vascular spasm and not dangerous Otherwise, there is not much bad you can do even if you get some "frostnip" but I would recommend warm packs to the hands to improve blood flow and keeping them flexing and they will loosen up. If the fingers look normal at this point, you're ok :) Oh, and ibuprofen or naproxen for the pain actually has been shown in studies to be helpful. GO get some gloves ;) I didn't feel like typing it all out if the answer was no.
  11. Do you normally have issues with your hands in cold weather? This can be anything from a color change to mild discomfort in a cold room or outside in the cold?
  12. In all seriousness though...fuck wingsuits.
  13. You must be such a wonderful person to be around.
  14. Yeah, no more of that shit. Especially your dance moves in the mexican restaurant.
  15. Funny how not having much experience limits you for a job in which you are expected to be very proficient. Why were you expecting?
  16. Not really a thing here, I guess.
  17. Before you finish that - pedophile jokes will get you banned pretty quickly around here.
  18. duct tape welding on a stainless steel mount. Clearly.
  19. Ron - this will get me banned from SC for a while - but you are truly a sick fuck.
