  1. Come to DeLand. On any given day, you could probably fill an otter load with people who all have more than 10,000 jumps. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  2. Thanks Oren! It was a great event and lots of fun! I'll definitely be there again next year. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  3. That was a fun jump! Thanks for landing out with me. Damn belly flyers screwing our spot... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  4. I disagree. There are some things you can do with booties that you cannot do without booties. To the OP - as has been suggested, your best bet is to get to a wind tunnel and/or talk to an experienced RW flyer. I've attached a picture of a right turn. The left leg is down and slightly out to the left, the right leg is up. It's not the best angle for the picture, but should hopefully clear some things up. 5. Very suitable for 4-way vrw and static head-down. Faster than AZ, not quite as fast as Paraclete. I haven't been to NH, but I believe they are the same. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

    cost

Each tunnel has its own pricing structure. Call the tunnel closest to you and ask them if they have skydiver rates. Also ask around at your local dropzone as there may be people who organize tunnel trips. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

    Freefly suit

LiquidSky's customer service is the best I've dealt with. They make sure you love your suit and everything is perfect. I don't know about average wait time, but you will have it within the time period you are told. Both times I received my suit much faster than expected. Freefly suit

I have a LiquidSky freefly suit and LS swoop shorts and absolutely love them both. The suits are the highest quality and look and fly fantastic. Great customer service as well. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  13. Of the blocks you listed, I've never done 18 or 21 in a 12 foot tunnel, but have done 10 and 12 (with the front piece doing a 180 and back piece staying in place just to have another slot switcher). I don't like doing 3 (usually point just does a 180), 11 (you can't translate the pieces), 15 (too tight, not a realistic shape) and 16 (again, pieces can't translate). The blocks I have found to work well in a 12 foot tunnel are 5, 6, 7, 9, 14, 17. The ones that work but aren't great are 3, 10, 11, 15, 16. This is all my personal preference based on flying in Orlando. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

  16. The idea sounds interesting, but I'd be curious how practical it would work. Most of the time I'm flying, I'm too preoccupied with what I'm doing to focus on adjusting the wind speed myself. I also use my hands for taking grips and wouldn't want to accidently hit the device. The only times I could see myself using something like that is when I'm coaching, but then I'll just tell the controller and instructor so we're all on the same page. There's also the issue of who would use it. Tunnel instructors wouldn't want most people using them. I've seen people do so many scary things in tunnels because they just don't know any better. Imagine these people being able to control their own wind speed? It would be an instructor's nightmare! Right now someone can ask for more wind and the instructor simply won't give it to them. I can see it being fun to use something like this for very few people who get the ok from the tunnel and the instructor. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  17. A tunnel specific rig with no pilot chute and no way to open is a much better option. A tunnel will be more likely to let you use this then a real rig with a cover. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

  20. Just want to clarify one thing - I am not a skydiving 'instructor' as I do not have tandem or AFF ratings, but I am a skydiving coach and do a lot of RW and freefly coaching in both the tunnel and the sky. I am a Skydive U coach as well. All of the coaches mentioned above are great. Feel free to PM me if you want any information. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  21. I've never done a pylon race (not sure exactly what the rules are) but if Selwyn and Mick are in then count me in too! Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  22. I strongly disagree with this. Before I did any coaching at ParacleteXP, I thought that the speed and size would only be a benefit after the basics were learned. Since then I have coached everything from first time tunnel flyers going through their AFF to advanced head down students in there and everyone learns so much more quickly there than in the other tunnels. I was amazed at how much faster the AFF students in particular learned since I wasn't expecting it. There is a huge advantage to having the extra space. When students drift, there is enough time for them to correct themselves before needing to be spotted. Therefore they are learning how to do it all themselves from the start instead of having an instructor do these corrections for them. They also are spending more time in the air flying (since they are not learning anything when an instructor catches them and brings them back to the center of the tunnel.) ParacleteXP is more expensive than the smaller tunnels, but it is absolutely worth the price difference. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  23. I am an active tunnel coach. When I coach an hour of tunnel time, I spend waaay more than an hour of my time. Is the the total amount of my time that I am charging for, not just the time spent in the tunnel. It takes time to get to and from the tunnel. It generally takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes to brief depending on how many people are flying and what skills are being worked on. The debrief usually lasts at least as long as the tunnel session since we watch the video, pause it at points, talk about things, rewind, etc. When I coach a 15 minute block of tunnel time, it usually takes up about 2.5 hours of my time and live only live 4 miles from the tunnel. Coaches who live an hour away need 4.5 hours to coach a 15 minute block. You should. If you are paying for coaching then this should be expected. You may have to bring your own DVD or buy one from the tunnel. Depends on the engineer. I work doing computer programming during the day and know a lot of engineers who also sit at a computer working. I consider tunnel coaching much harder and more demanding than sitting at my computer. I absolutely love doing it, but it can be a lot of work. My computer doesn't kick me in the face or land on top of me. As for the topic of the thread - if I am charging for coaching I never expect a tip. I love getting tips and am extremely grateful when I do. I've been tipped anywhere from $5 to $100 for a single session and I appreciate all of it. To me, a tip says that my student got more than expected out of the session and felt that I went above and beyond. That's a nice feeling. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
  24. I switched from the Z1 to the Factory Diver about a year ago and love it. If you're flying head up with a Z1 that is the tiniest bit loose and it gets hit in the side, it can come right off. I've never had a problem with the Factory Diver. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
