MEGA Exciting news. My band Big Pretty and The Red Rockets was chosen to be 1 of 5 bands to compete in 96rocks' Battle Of The Bands competition this Friday June 24th at Lincoln Theater in Raleigh. So here's the deal. If we win we open up for Dave Matthew's Band next wednesday at Alltel Pavillion!!!! YEAH this is HUGE news to us. SO the way the contest works is that each person at the show on friday get's a vote. Now the winner is chosen by 50% crowd vote and 50% Alltel Pavillion panel of judges. So that means this... BRING EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!! We need all the security we can get to get Big Pretty and The Red Rockets on the map and this would be a great starting place. That's... Friday June 24th at the Lincoln Theater in downtown Raleigh. Doors open at 8pm...show starts at 9PM. Cover is $3 and all ages are welcome to come. Who's coming?? Any out of towners?? If you need a place to crash of course there are the bunk houses but I'll offer up my basement as well or couch space whichever you'd rather take. I live with a couple jumpers so we'll be headed out there every day the boogie is going on. Good way to stay in an air conditioned environment and save us some gas money as well AND have a DD at the end of the night. Hope to see everyone there. If you want big pretty and the red rockets to play someone needs to take control of the fund raising for it. Talk to Sheri and who ever needs to be involved to get it worked out. Right now we're thinking Saturday night during the boogie would be the best weekend. I've decided not to get paid for this show to take a 100 bucks off the total price of the band to make it a bit more feasible. Good luck. :) That's cool though. Hey so for those of you who weren't at the DZ today...Cynthia and Dave....there is a new rating. So everyone knows I have my asphault number and you can pull a "Joey" so today I wanted a labeling system. Marion came up with the criterion. To pull a "Joe" is to have two girls in bed talking about a threesome and not, as cynthia puts it best, "Sealing the deal." From now on this ism is a Joe - ISM. :) I had a great time today. Well I have a lot of food already here I think. But things I don't have are....Non-alcoholic drinks. Tortilla Chips. Regular Chips. Alcohol in copious amounts. More food. Tortillas. I have 4 lbs of FLank steaks marinated right now and dave and cynthia are providing chicken. If someone could bring desert and maybe some tomatoes and lettuce for the burgers. SOOOOO...it looks like thursday night drinks are becoming a staple at the Kwon residence. Last night Dave, My roomate and miss Dawn went out on the town with some of my other friends and proceeded to get absolutely HAMMIED!!! No if ands or buts about this one. All of us kept taking shots till it made dawn sick. :) Good times. The best part is she was hiding in an elevator at the end of the night and we couldn't find her to save our lives. Just riding the thing up and down and up and down until some peeps tried to get her to stand straight and got her out of the elevator at which point my DD roomate found her and she so coherently said "I'm gonna puke now" Oh lord. Where were you all to see all of this. Oh! The other best part is at 730 this morning she just jumps out of daves bed and says..."I want lucky charms." And no dave didn't get lucky he's just a nice guy who slept on the futon down stairs so dawn could puke in HIS bed!!! Alas I'm not so lucky to have Dawn puking in dave's bed because that would have made for a greart story. Ta ta for now...the never ending saga of the Kwon residence will continue Tuesday when we have a cook out FOR THE SECOND TIME!! Everyone able to come should definitely try to make it out. Oh yeah. List of things needed. I have about 6-7 large chicken breasts marinating and a 2 lb flank steak going as well. Hamburger meat is good to bring, hot dogs are good, chips, flour tortillas are good to grill, lettuce for the burgers, burger buns, hot dog buns, whatever. I figure there won't be THAT many people showing up. Just a few of my Chapel Hill friends and the FFF friends. This is kinda a mixer of my friends.
