Just so everyone knows, it appears there is some sort of event going on the weekend of the CPC (2/24) and hotel rooms, even at the Green Gables (which also raised there rates) are booked. I had to suck it up and book at the Super8 right up the road from the dz, which last time I was there wasn't so great but I just need a shower and place to crash. I will have space, if anyone comes and wants to share costs for a hot shower I have the room Friday and Saturday. So who is coming to play on the SE CPC this year? I'm not sure how to take the "getting spanked by girls" comment.....hmmm.....maybe I'll train a little harder to spank more of the boys this year - so the ordeal will be a little more threatening down the road. But Ian has a hottie who I'm sure spanks him whenever his little heart desires...........oh to be so lucky I can't wait for the first CPC meet - hope to see lots of people in Lake Wales Feb. 24th......come on girls - come help me show our true colors! So we had 30 competitors register for the event. Unfortunately on the practice round Thursday morning there was a cut-away and therefore 1 guy had to drop out ...and despite the lovely Sebastian winds smacking us in the face (averaging about 10 - 15) we got thru al 6 rounds with no injuries. It was a GREAT event. Here is how it ended...... Woman's Intermediate: 1st - Jessica Edgeington 2nd - Kate Hoffsetter 3rd - Denise Chervenak Overall Intermediate: 1st - Brian Buechler 2nd - Graham Harding 3rd - Troy Church Today winds did not cooperate for the Pro Guys so tomorrow (Saturday) is going to be a BUZ-ZEE day and man oh man is exciting, just seeing half of one round........if you can make it to Sebastian you have GOT to come watch. Just wondering who might be around and/or who wants to head that way to play with the pond a little? Well I just found a reason to stay home for New Years! Now I have to sort out how to tell the family visiting from NJ for Christmas that I am working while they are here so I can take the following week off Let the girls list begin...... Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Hey Kate...........I think it would be a COOL idea to put something together for just girls, even if it just opens some more female eyes to the competition side of things. I wouldn't want to split the CPC meets just because competition is competition and as I grow, I want to be viewed as part of the "entire pack" but for the ladies currently standing on the side watching - I promise, it is a great way to learn and it is NOT as scary as you might think. The SE region boys have accepted me with open arms and have been a great source of learning. Even at the Regional level, at the CPC Championships, the support for the girls who participated was great all around. Let me know how it turns out. The new season is just around the corner. oi! wish there was more notice. so now that so many of our boys KICKED BUTT in CO and got pro cards - any word in the rumor mill about who will still come play with the "new kids on the block"? Looking forward to next year more than you can imageine Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

The Southeast boys were representing for sure...... I made a showing too . There comp was good despite the occasional weather hold, no one got hurt although we had a couple awesome blade strikes and one round of distance was interesting when each pass had different wind conditions (started 4 mph downwind, switched to 7mph HEADwind then switched to 3 -5 cross wind, all on one round. CRAZY I TELL YA! Think there were 9 of us from the SE region but ALL the competitors were looking AWESOME. Have to make a special shout out to Jess from CO (formerly ASC) who freakin ROCKED her canopy flying skills as did "Lew". Good job to everyone for a fun and safe comp. WOW - Unfortunately and fortunately all that the same time, I just met Mariann in May 2006 when I was lucky enough to be invited to train with her in Colorado. She was coming back to swooping and as I am a newbie this year, I was investing in some coaching......We flew in and met Jim for a week of swoop training and from the minute I hugged her at the airport, I knew she would make a lasting impression on my life - and my growth in swooping. Her contagious energy on each and every ride up not only helped me relax but reminded me that this was something I LOVED and it was FUN, as well as a challenge. We spent a great week with Jim and cemented an awesome friendship. Lots of text messages back and forth and before long, I saw her again a month later at the PST event where I watched her make her mark back into the PST. She gave it her heart and soul - that is for sure - and always had a smile and much thanks for anything anyone wanted to share with her. Before the weekend was over, we talked about our next training weekend together......and I felt excited to not only have made such a great new friend but to also have such a great person as a role model....she was always supportive even when I wanted to beat myself up and never let me cloud the progress I continued to make. My heart aches as I think of the loss but I feel truly blessed to have had her touch my life. May the sparkles be plentiful Mariann and the sunshine endless on the flight you now take.... Never in a million years would I have thought that when it is 95+ degrees on the ground that a little cloud would produce such massive amounts of ICE at altitude. Holy crap - was glad we didn't have winds to deal with but the Farm has yet again, left an "impression" on me......... Was great to see everyone as usual. Big hugs until next time
