  1. Connected device security is close to my heart. There are a lot of guides online that take an extremely high level approach to how to secure your connected devices, practical things that most consumer can do: https://www.cisecurity.org/newsletter/10-tips-to-securely-configure-your-new-devices/ If you have a home with many connected devices, you should absolutely implement those measures as a safeguard. In terms of general information security for the average person, there are some table stakes actions you can take there as well: enable 2 factor auth for EVERYTHING you do, use a password manager, take a free online phishing awareness course, learn about sketchy domains, etc.. We live in a time where the gallantry of the internet that many of us are familiar with is an antiquated model that fails to address many of the risks that we encounter using the internet for even an hour at a time, and we now spend most of our lives using the internet in some way shape or form. Be paranoid, don't click things you don't trust, don't buy connected devices whose manufactures skimped on basic security. The issue of "stalkerware", another malicious niche of software specifically designed to enable stalking and domestic abuse, is one that is being tackled some of the brightest names in security, notably Eva Galperin, Cybersecurity director at the EFF. If personal privacy issues are something you care about, I urge you to support the EFF, it's one of the strongest and most transparent organizations on the planet that's trying to protect us from exactly that.
  2. Understood, I work in cybersecurity and if you're paranoid like myself Zoom is a bit of a self induced stab wound every time you have to login...all of that to say, Im not that turtle dude, I dont appreciate being called someones sockpuppet, and am more than willing to prove it if your work day is also over and you're looking for something to do. blue skies
  3. Hey Jake if it would make you feel better...I have no idea who this turtle guy is, but I'm free from work for a bit if the two of you want to jump on a zoom call and share nudes or something? Seriously this is such an absurd accusation that I'm offering to the both of you to have a group video call, as Im bored, it seems you two must be also, and I really dont like being accused of being a sockpuppet account...
  4. Nope just a new jumper who made an account here a while ago and doesn't spend much time on it...but okay man if you think that im an alternate account of some other clown you've been arguing with, I think you need to step outside of this site for a few hours.... You've got 19K posts, how many of those are accusing people of being fake accounts of people you disagree with? seriously
  5. I spent about an hour today browsing these forums while taking a break from work, and at no point did I come across a post of yours, or a reply, that gives the image of a real discussion or debate. Just a bunch of emotional children. I'm not sure what I expected diving into a political sub-forum on a skydiving website. I know you might think your one sentence replies to other similarly animated intellectuals give the impression of discussion, but at this point, having read some of your replies, I think you're smarter than that, and are really just wasting both of our time. Quarantine activities right?
  6. sigh....if somehow that's what you interpreted from my post, and you're that desperate for an internet argument, I will give you the grace to interpret it however you'd like. I'm going back to work, have away at it kids
  7. Hi Jerry that's good to hear, I find watching mainstream news outlets (regardless of their orientation) leads only to a severe poverty of facts and an abundance of emotions.
  8. Good bait(s) but no thanks. There is no "discussion" being had here, if there was I wouldn't have made my original post, and if this is what you would constitute as discussion I see the my point is going to fall flat regardless :) have a good one Jake blue skies
  9. You are delusional and watching too much CNN if you think Biden's slowly deteriorating brain has even a half chance against Trump on the debate stage, let alone when it comes to actual election night. Burying your head in the sand and failing to acknowledge the increasing odds of another Trump presidency is exactly how we ended up here in the first place. Sad to see the same mindset being perpetuated a second time around.
  10. Take a breath and relax
  11. Christ do people ever get tired of obsessing over every single thing Trump does? You think you'd be over it after 4 years, no? Is it ever mentally taxing? Have you experienced significant decline in day to day happiness? Not a single mental health professional in the world would tell you that it's healthy to obsess over something that you have zero effect over. Someone can post a single sentence with the word "Trump" in it, and without a doubt, someone will jump in with multiple paragraph replies pointing out the inaccuracies in their rhetoric and style in which they present it....and then it rolls into this endless cycle of bickering that clearly serves no purpose other than to get riled up, you're obviously not going to change anyone's mind...... I just imagine it to be exhausting. I thought this website would have clearer heads and more restraint on their call to their keyboard arms than my facebook feed, but that looks to be mistaken. I understand level-headed political debate, but c'mon people the style or arguing that I'm seeing in this thread reads like something off of a Twitter thread.
