  1. Thanks Lori ..... good advice....... most of the jumpers I fix cameras for can only afford beer! …… great point camera fliers …… pay the extra beans for insurance……course if you have coverage ….it will never break … lol

  2. The “blotch” is trapped liquid in the glass that covers the LCD element. It’s like a sandwich with very little tolerance between surfaces. Remove the cover on the back of the LCD screen with the battery removed (there are two screws … see attached) rinse the screen assembly again with 90% isopropyl. It has to be H2O trapped because alcohol would have evaporated by now. But do it soon so you don't get a hard water stain.

If you’re up to it you can remove the screws that hold down the LCD assembly, but make sure you don’t touch the circuit board unless you are well grounded (ie no static electricity) (see attached as well)

Most pond swooper’s cameras that I fix end with the same issue as well as some trapped grit.

If the LCD is hosed, the LCD assembly for the 109 is pretty cheap …. And easy to replace ...

If you get wet again ……. Only rinse a camera in water immediately after immersed in salt water and with the battery removed … otherwise always use 90% isopropyl and have a beer and cross your fingers while it dries

    Cheers,

    Jim

  3. That’s a tough one. Sony does not sell this as a complete assembly. Look at the attached exploded view and see if can figure out what got yanked. Then match the numbers of each part with their part numbers in the second attachment. I think you need #254 and #256 but that’s a guess not having the camera in hand.

If so your looking at 50 bucks vs. 300+ (see cost attachment)

Look up the part numbers at https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx for a price.

You can order them there as well.

I’ve got the complete service manual and have fixed a couple of 330’s for skydiving buddies. Very simple camera to disassemble.

The manual is a 6meg file so PM me an email and I’ll send it your way.

OK I've too much time on my hands....lol

    Cheers,

    Jim

  4. The video port is part of a mounted circuit board called BJ-1 in the service manual. The part number is A-7074-459-A and costs $120.32.

I have replaced this several times on different Sony cameras and the problem was fixed. That being said, it could be something entirely different. On most of the cameras I have seen the plug wears because we do so many dubs, etc.

You can order the part from Sony at:

    https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/default.aspx

It's not difficult to replace if you have the Manual, a small screwdriver set and a good pair of tweezers. Also make sure you are grounded so you don’t cook any components from static electricity. I can send you the Manual but it's a 20meg file.

Send me an email address if you want me to send it.

    Cheers,

    Jim

  5. Inside joke ...... sorry ..... was referring to always losing my drink in a red plastic cup ..... a tradition Keith came up with ..... the “nondescript red cup brigade” ….. this is why you should never drink and post …………….. darn where is my red cup ……

  6. Hey skipper good to see you over the weekend …………

C:31:22 is a “T reel fault. Press reset button with battery installed and load the tape again.” is what the book says.

I’ve seen this on a couple of 100’s and sometimes they don’t quite load the tape correctly. Push reset until you can remove the tape, then reset while empty, then wiggle the tape mechanism as it loads. But if you keep getting error call me ….. Might be able to fixit with tape mechanism from Salcone’s spare 100 or could check price new from Sony.

  7. Thanks Doug ........ would love to see pics ........ I'm doubling up on cameras for Nationals so upgrading to HC7’s...... also do you have a preference on which box is a better fit etc.? I currently jump a BoneHead w/ an HC85 but was impressed with the Cookie at the PIA

  8. Anyone know how to or the best software needed to copy a movie DVD. My Dell can write to a double-layer 8.5 meg DVD+R DL so I don't need compression and all that ........ just the ability to make a copy.

    Cheers

  9. Skybytch poured her heart and effort into this awesome weekend of old/new friends, fun stories and general mayhem that did not just go well but turned out to be an intimate gathering ………….. the fact we had a Cessna and a few very good and well trained partiers made this boogie …………. And again the thanks to the well trained partiers ………… you all are now FUN current for 90 days with fees paid (PARTY- AFF- OBAN28129)…….sooooooo when is our next recurrences’ training…… special thanks to all who were there ……….. how about a StarFarms06 attendees/supporters reunion ……. And uuuummmmm soooon

  10. I had the weirdest dream last night that there was this boogie with all these really cool new people I had finally got to meet in person ……… then the dream got wet …… then there was this donkey …. And I woke feeling I wish the dream had lasted a little longer ……. Not sure how to interpret the symbolism of the donkey in the dream …….

Really miss you ALL ……… Lisa you rock and I owe you huge for a much needed weekend …. Can’t wait to see and jump with all of you again
