  1. I saw video of a sabre opening that resembled a bomb going off: look...reach...pitch.*BAM* FallRate
  2. At 6'2" and 278 lbs, the only special challenge I faced during AFF was landing. But I had serious difficulty with coach dives as even the big boys had trouble flying with me while I was still giving each jump a "good hard arch". It took me extra time to learn how to fly flat before I was able to concentrate on other skills. FallRate
  3. Just to make you decision a little more difficult, check out the Wings container.
  4. Create a positive rapport: Sleep with it! At least it shouldn't hurt, as long as you are not a bed wetter. FallRate
  5. I can't really say which is more comfortable for freeflying, but if you are interested in the Voodoo you need to be comfortable with a 150 main or smaller. The Odyssey will accomodate larger canopies. FallRate
  6. This may be the same thing, but Aerodrome's lists one review and I can't access it. FallRate

  8. I thought that the purpose of the tubes is to provide a housing for the cutaway cables which would help prevent hard cutaways when the line twist goes all the way down the risers. Of course, if the tubes are there to prevent the risers from twisting when the lines are, then you don't have to worry about the cutaway cables being "held" by a twist. I know that Relative Workshop was looking into cable housings above the three ring and that they ruled out metal housings as these can be crimped and cause the cables to lock up, but I haven't heard anything else about RW's plans for this. Ok, I've babbled enough. FallRate
  9. Exactly! I was a bit surprised that an airline pilot would make that error. FallRate
  10. Whether or not the Cypress had been "disabled" by "qualified personnel" prior to the flight was another concern of the pilot. But for the sake of this we can assume the Cypress was ON and functioning properly. Obviously, the problem with the pilot's complaint has to do with him believing that sudden depressurization might have caused the Cypress to fire. But again his thought on the subject was "exactly" wrong (hint). You don't have to worry about thinking of speeds and altitudes. There is a basic principle the pilot was confused about. FallRate
  11. You're on the right track. But I'm looking for specifics. It just struck me that the pilot was 'exactly' wrong. FallRate
  12. Working for FedEx, I recently found a post on the Flight Safety Bulletin board. A pilot had complained that a jumpseater (an employee hopping a ride on one of the cargo planes) had brought along a skydiving rig which "was equipped with a pyrotechnic device that could have gone off if the cabin had suddenly depressurized (cypress)." (If you have ever dealt with airline pilots you probably know that next to flying, their favorite activities are whining and bitching.) Anyway, the complaint he made was flawed for one reason and that is the riddle: What is the flaw? FallRate (sorry, I'm bored)
  13. Actually, Megadeth did a cover of "Anarchy in the UK" under the same title, but replaced UK with USA on the 'So Far, So Good...So What' album. You might like it. FallRate

Actually, it would make you quite valuable, and much appreciated, as a designated driver on those evenings when we choose to go into town to eat instead of cooking out at the DZ. FallRate
